Wed, 05 Jun 2013 09:51:29 -0700 Green Bay Packers TE Jermichael Finley is estimated to be much closer to his listed weight of 247 pounds after regaining some bulk this offseason. Finley had dropped to around 235 pounds sometime during or after 2010, when he was aiming to play lighter to be used more as a wide recivier. But Finley's assessment of his earlier seasons saw that he was playing well while also retaining strength in mass, so he decided to go back to that physique. "He's back to where I like to see him, the playing weight that he's playing with," head coach Mike McCarthy said. "He's stronger. He's playing with more confidence. ... I really like the offseason that Jermichael has put together so far." Fantasy Tip: Finley is considered a fringe TE1, which could make him a value pick in many leagues. With Greg Jennings gone, Finley should see more targets in a potential walk year.
Fri, 03 May 2013 10:48:23 -0700 The Green Bay Packers could have TE Jermichael Finley line up in the slot or at wide receiver this season since the team lost Minnesota Vikings WR Greg Jennings this offseason. Fantasy Tip: Finley could see some more targets this season since Jennings and Donald Driver have left. Finley could be considered a weak No. 1 tight end option leading up to drafts.
Mon, 25 Mar 2013 13:15:54 -0700 The Green Bay Packers have decided to pay TE Jermichael Finley the $3 million roster bonus he was due Monday, March 25, and will keep him on the team. Finely is scheduled to make $8.25 million in 2013. Fantasy Tip: Finley is one of many weapons the Packers have in their passing game. At this point, Finley should be seen as a strong No. 2 tight end or even a low-end No. 1 tight end in fantasy drafts next season.
Sun, 17 Mar 2013 18:02:22 -0700 Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy talked about his hopes for TE Jermichael Finley for 2013, eliminating some of the doubt that Finley will be in a Packers uniform this season. McCarthy praised Finley's second half, said expectations are high, but said his plans for Finley in 2013 will be different. McCarthy said Sunday, March 17, that he is leaning toward simplifying Finley's role and focusing more on the things he really does well, rather than moving him all around. Fantasy Tip: Finley sounds like he will be a vital part of the Green Bay offense, and with the team losing WR Greg Jennings in free agency, he could be the No. 3 option for QB Aaron Rodgers after WRs Randall Cobb and Jordy Nelson. He might re-emerge as a No. 1 fantasy TE in 2013 if he can stay healthy.
Thu, 07 Mar 2013 11:15:36 -0800 Blake Baratz, agent for Green Bay Packers TE Jermichael Finley, said he would be willing to listen if the Packers asked Finley to take a pay cut. "I would never just turn my nose up at anything," Baratz said. "I will listen and hear anybody about anything and withhold judgment until I do. I can't say today whether I would, whether I wouldn't, whether it's in Jermichael's best interest, his worst interest. There'd have to be a reason why he would have to take a pay cut. Maybe he would. Maybe he wouldn't. It's all hypothetical until the numbers are there. Is it a one-year deal like it is now? Are we adding years? Are we adding dollars? Are we moving dollars?"
Thu, 28 Feb 2013 04:53:05 -0800 Green Bay Packers TE Jermichael Finley said he is uncertain of his future with the team as they have not held discussions with him so far this offseason. "I haven't got a call. I haven't got a text asking me to take a pay cut or to restructure my deal at this point - not at all," Finley said. Finley reiterated he has no intention of taking a pay cut, and he does not appear open to restructuring as well.
Wed, 27 Feb 2013 23:05:07 -0800 Green Bay Packers TE Jermichael Finley said he isn't willing to take a pay cut to lower his salary cap number for 2013. He noted he may be willing to restructure his deal, but that would likely require the Packers to sign him to a contract extension beyond the 2013 season. Finley has the third-highest salary cap number on the team this year. Head coach Mike McCarthy appears in favor of figuring out something that would keep Finley with the Packers.
Wed, 27 Feb 2013 14:23:43 -0800 The Kansas City Chiefs could show interest in Green Bay Packers TE Jermichael Finley if he is released this offseason.

Mon, 25 Feb 2013 06:11:50 -0800 The Green Bay Packers are reportedly torn about the future of TE Jermichael Finley. According to sources, general manager Ted Thompson and the coaching staff appear to favor keeping Finley, while other people within the organization, including members of the personnel department, favor his release. Finley is entering the second year of a two-year, $14 million contract, and he is due a $3 million roster bonus March 27.
Fri, 08 Feb 2013 11:50:31 -0800 The Green Bay Packers could consider signing TE Jermichael Finley to a cap-friendly, multi-year contract extension that would give them cap flexibility to sign other players to contract extensions.
Fri, 08 Feb 2013 09:57:17 -0800 Green Bay Packers TE Jermichael Finley continues to work out to keep his body in good shape, and he said it's "50-50" as to whether he re-signs with the team. "I would love to stay there," Finley said, "but if Green Bay says otherwise, I play football for a living, so I'd have to switch gears and get ready for another chapter in my life." Finely could sign a more cap-friendly, multi-year deal to stick around. He said currently there has been no communication between himself and the team regarding his future.
Wed, 06 Feb 2013 05:33:03 -0800 Green Bay Packers TE Jermichael Finley is expected to be cut in the offseason, according to league sources. He'll make $4.4 million with a $3 million roster bonus in 2013.
Sat, 26 Jan 2013 13:03:23 -0800 Green Bay Packers TE Jermichael Finley could remain with the team after a strong showing in the second half of the season. His increased dedication and team-first attitude he showed could prevent the team from releasing him.

Wed, 16 Jan 2013 12:31:08 -0800 Updating a previous report, Green Bay Packers TE Jermichael Finley seems to have convinced the team to bring him back for an $8.25 million salary in 2013 based on the way he finished the season. Finley eliminated his dropped passes and caught 32 passes for 391 yards in the final seven regular season games. "As the season wore on you could see a more confident guy on the field," tight ends coach Jerry Fontenot said. "You could see a guy that once he got his hands on the ball he was running like a maniac, and his yards after the catch for the second half of the season were probably 40 percent more than early in the season."
Tue, 15 Jan 2013 14:14:48 -0800 Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy praised TE Jermichael Finley at his season-ending press conference. McCarthy said Finley was a different man after the Packers bye week, and that he was happy with the way Finley finished the season.
Fri, 11 Jan 2013 11:26:21 -0800 Green Bay Packers TE Jermichael Finley (hamstring) would have been a full participant if the team had practiced Friday, Jan. 11, and is probable for the team's playoff game.

Mon, 17 Dec 2012 11:17:23 -0800 The Green Bay Packers have plenty of tight ends returning next season, which will make TE Jermichael Finley expendable. TEs Brandon Bostick, Andrew Quarless, Tom Crabtree, Ryan Taylor and DJ Williams will all be back. Quarless and Williams are much more effective blockers than Finley, too, and head coach Mike McCarthy is hoping for a more formidable running game in 2013. Scouts say Finley still is impressive and is able to stretch the field, but he doesn't put fear in opposing defenses like he once did. "But I didn't see him like a couple years ago where you worried about him all the time," one personnel director said. "I don't see that mismatch ability like I used to. Drops. Inconsistent routes. Not disciplined." Other scouts note his inconsistency if he knows he's not being involved in the offense. Scouts see lack of flexibility with Finley, and one theory is that the stiffness in his hips and knees caused him to drop a large amount of passes. Finley has struggled to sink his hips and make sharp cuts to get open. "His routes aren't polished to that level," one scout said. "If you run a great route, you get open, but that doesn't seem to matter to him. He's playing more like he's on the playground."
Mon, 17 Dec 2012 07:31:11 -0800 Green Bay Packers TE Jermichael Finley said he would like to retire as a member of the team, responding to an earlier report that the Packers will release Finley in the offseason if they can't complete a trade. "I didn't check it out," Finley said of the report. "It's a business and I would love to be here my whole career. I'm comfortable here and I want to be a Packer for life. That's all I can say about that."
Sun, 16 Dec 2012 12:36:41 -0800 The Green Bay Packers are expected to part ways with TE Jermichael Finley this offseason. The Packers are prepared to release Finley if they are not able to trade him.
Thu, 13 Dec 2012 05:22:20 -0800 Updating a previous item, Green Bay Packers TE Jermichael Finley said via Twitter he meant no disrespect to Chicago Bears LB Brian Urlacher (hamstring) by saying the defense would be better without him. "Urlacher is a hall of fame player and person," Finley said. "I meant no disrespect to him in previous comments, I was simply trying to explain that his replacement in the lineup is a good player as well."
Thu, 13 Dec 2012 04:52:16 -0800 Green Bay Packers TE Jermichael Finley said Chicago Bears LB Brian Urlacher's (hamstring) absence from the lineup is not necessarily hurting their defense. Finley added Urlacher has lost a step. "Urlacher is at the end of his career right now; he's playing a little slow out there," Finley said. "I don't think they're losing too much if he's out. Putting another guy in might help them a little."
Wed, 28 Nov 2012 05:50:03 -0800 Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers said his relationship with TE Jermichael Finley is good, even though their relationship continues to draw scrutiny. The two have been meeting each Saturday night before games to go over the offensive game plan and discuss nuances of certain plays. "With Jermichael, I think it's been about getting on the same page and spending some time together," Rodgers said. "And I think the thing I appreciate about him over the last three or four weeks is just how he really has been a good teammate. I think he really has. He cares about his guys; he's been intentional about spending time with me and wanting to make sure we're on the same page. And I think it's helped. I really do think it's helped."
Wed, 21 Nov 2012 16:58:45 -0800 Green Bay Packers TE Jermichael Finley (shoulder) said the slightly dislocated AC joint in his shoulder will remain an issue for him for the rest of the season. Finley has been frustrated with his sporadic play this year and the fact that QB Aaron Rodgers seems to have lost trust in his tight end after he was plagued by 13 dropped passes last season.
Wed, 21 Nov 2012 04:38:41 -0800 Green Bay Packers TE Jermichael Finley believes WR Randall Cobb has overtaken him as far receiving targets are concerned. Finley feels QB Aaron Rodgers is looking in Cobb's direction more often. "I think (Randall) Cobb's taken my position from '09. I want to line up where Cobb's lining up because I know the ball's coming there," Finley said. The tight end believes he is simply not high on the team's pecking order in terms of targets. "I'd say about fourth," Finley said. "I don't really want to put a number on it, but I'd say four if I had to. I'm pretty disappointed in it. I'm pretty disappointed in the numbers side of it, but I ain't had the opportunities either." Finley did record three receptions for 66 yards and a touchdown in Week 11.
Sat, 03 Nov 2012 07:51:01 -0700 Green Bay Packers TE Jermichael Finley has said that he and QB Aaron Rodgers lack chemistry. Finley met with the quarterback Saturday, Oct. 27, for 45 minutes and plans to do so every Saturday in hopes of regaining his dominance of late 2009 and 2010. "It's (about) getting trust back from A-Rod," Finley said. "If I was the quarterback, I wouldn't throw it to the guy who's off-rhythm right now either. So I've got to get that trust back. The guy's touching the ball 100 percent of the time. You've got to have that trust. That 30 to 45-minute meeting, that shows a lot. And he just says, 'How do you want the ball?' I tell him, 'It ain't how I want it. You tell me what you want me to do.'"
Fri, 02 Nov 2012 14:13:50 -0700 Green Bay Packers TE Jermichael Finley (shoulder) fully participated in practice and is listed as probable for Week 9.
Fri, 02 Nov 2012 08:32:53 -0700 Green Bay Packers TE Jermichael Finley (shoulder) is expected to see an increased role in the offense in the second half of the season. Finley has been limited by a shoulder injury. He has only played in 65 percent of the snaps thus far, after playing in 83 percent of them at this time last season.
Thu, 01 Nov 2012 11:59:18 -0700 Green Bay Packers TE Jermichael Finley (shoulder) was limited in practice Thursday, Nov. 1.

Tue, 30 Oct 2012 11:44:53 -0700 Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers said TE Jermichael Finley has seen more double coverage this season.
Mon, 29 Oct 2012 09:25:43 -0700 Green Bay Packers TE Jermichael Finley was not particularly happy with the way the team played in Week 8, saying the Packers played down to their level of competition in the Jacksonville Jaguars. "We need to come out and put teams like this away. Of course it's disappointing," Finley said. "With the ability we got and with the guys we got on this team, it kills us. If the defense is looking at us, that's why they're mad at us if we go three-and-out, because they know what we can do. And we're pissed off at them when teams like Jacksonville drive the ball down the field."
Sun, 28 Oct 2012 15:49:40 -0700 Green Bay Packers TE Jermichael Finley posted two receptions for just 24 yards in Week 8 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Fri, 26 Oct 2012 13:02:05 -0700 Green Bay Packers TE Jermichael Finley (shoulder) was limited in practice Friday, Oct. 26, and is probable for the team's Week 8 game.
Thu, 25 Oct 2012 13:24:43 -0700 Green Bay Packers TE Jermichael Finley (shoulder) was limited in practice Thursday, Oct. 25.
Wed, 24 Oct 2012 14:03:42 -0700 Green Bay Packers TE Jermichael Finley (shoulder) was limited in practice Wednesday, Oct. 24.
Wed, 24 Oct 2012 06:35:29 -0700 Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers said he does not have chemistry issues with TE Jermichael Finley (shoulder), adding there are multiple reasons why Finley is not having a big statistical campaign. "The stats for him are obviously not exactly where you'd want them to be, but you have to understand that he's been playing with an injury and a lot of times he's been the guy that teams are trying to take away," Rodgers said. "There were a number of plays (in Week 7) where he's had two guys, one inside and one outside lined up on him, and just trying to take him away. It just lets other guys have the one-on-one opportunities and make the most of them. And I think he understands that if he's one-on-one that's usually where I'm going to look first but because of the respect of his talent teams usually pay a little more attention to him."
Fri, 19 Oct 2012 11:29:44 -0700 Green Bay Packers TE Jermichael Finley (shoulder) is probable for the team's Week 7 game.
