Cleveland Browns WR Davone Bess has been in a medical treatment center following the season, according to a person with knowledge of the situation. "I was in a point of my life where there was a lot of betrayal and mistrust and I didn't know how to handle it," Bess said. "So I went and got some help. I went through the process and learned it's OK to express my feelings but I have to do it in a positive way."
Fantasy Tip: Bess isn't even guaranteed to be on the Browns' roster next season. Don't plan on drafting him, unless he lands in a very favorable situation, which is unlikely.

Updating an earlier report, Cleveland Browns WR Davone Bess appeared to be under the influence of an unknown narcotic at the time of his arrest. Police responded to passenger complaints of a black man at a TSA checkpoint "acting irrationally, dancing, singing with his pants repeatedly falling down." When cops arrived, Bess grabbed a cup of coffee that didn't belong to him off a nearby counter and squeezed it so hard it splashed all over the cop. He got into a fighting stance and was struck by the cop in the leg with a baton. The cop said the strike had no effect. Bess took his shirt off and got into a fighting stance again. He surrendered when backup arrived.

Cleveland Browns WR Davone Bess (personal) has missed practice time this week while dealing with a serious family issue. He's listed as questionable in Week 16 versus the New York Jets, as a result, and he's still in Cleveland. The issue has been ongoing and has taken a toll on Bess this season. WR Joshua Cooper will replace Bess in the starting lineup if he can't play. Bess leads the league with 14 dropped passes and has 28 or fewer yards in 11 of 14 games.
Fantasy Tip: Cooper and Greg Little can be ignored during championship weekend. The only receiver worthy of starting is Josh Gordon in Cleveland.

Sat, 26 Oct 2013 06:37:11 -0700
Cleveland Browns WR Davone Bess knows he has to eliminate dropped passes, and does not blame the team's quarterback situation for his pass catching issues. "That's the scapegoat, so to speak," said Bess. "That's the easy way to see that's why I'm dropping balls. But that's not the case at all. [It's] just a lack of concentration on my behalf. I know I'm better than that, and I'm going to fix it."
Fri, 04 Oct 2013 09:21:00 -0700
Updating a previous item, Cleveland Browns QB Brian Hoyer (knee) was diagnosed with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his knee, and he'll miss the rest of the season. QB Brandon Weeden is expected to become the starting quarterback as a result.
Fantasy Tip: Weeden gets a break and gets another shot to prove to the team brass that he belongs as the starting QB. If they aren't sold yet, do they go after Josh Freeman? We shall see. Josh Gordon remains the Browns' best aerial weapon. Davone Bess probably loses some fantasy luster as a result, though.

Wed, 18 Sep 2013 08:01:35 -0700
The Cleveland Browns have demoted WR Greg Little and will start WRs Josh Gordon and Davone Bess in Week 3.
Fantasy Tip: Little mostly had value only in PPR leagues, and this will further hurt his value. Little had several drops this season and will have to work his way back up the depth chart.
Mon, 16 Sep 2013 13:22:51 -0700
Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon returned to the team Monday, Sept. 16, following his two-game suspension for violating the league's substance and abuse policy.
Fantasy Tip: The values of Davone Bess and Greg Little will drop considerably. It remains to be seen if Gordon will be productive in Norv Turner's offense, but that'll mainly be decided by the play of Brandon Weeden and the offensive line.
Fri, 06 Sep 2013 10:34:37 -0700
Cleveland Browns WR Davone Bess (knee) was a full participant in practice Friday, Sept. 6, and he is considered probable for Week 1 against the Miami Dolphins.
Fantasy Tip: Bess is expected to see a healthy amount of targets working against his former team, especially with Josh Gordon (suspension) on the sidelines. Still, Bess is no more than a WR4 or flex option in fantasy leagues of 12 or more teams.

Cleveland Browns WR Davone Bess will start opposite WR Greg Little in the regular season opener Sunday, Sept. 8, against the Miami Dolphins. He claims it will just be another game when he faces the team that traded him away. "Things happen," Bess said. "We all know how this business is. When I got traded, it was in the best interest of the Miami Dolphins. I'm a Cleveland Brown now. No grudges at all. I'm thankful to be here."
Fantasy Tip: Even as starters, Bess and Little are only worth looks as WR4s or flex fantasy players in leagues of 12 or more teams.

Cleveland Browns WR Davone Bess could start while WR Josh Gordon serves his two-game suspension.
Tue, 04 Jun 2013 16:34:09 -0700
The Cleveland Browns won't always have WRs Josh Gordon and Greg Little line up on the outside with Davone Bess in the slot. In early workouts, they've been shifting spots to keep defenses guessing; all have run routes from the inside and outside. Gordon made some of his most dynamic plays last year from the slot. David Nelson (knee) will also be incorporated into this rotation once healthy.
Fantasy Tip: Gordon is an alluring fantasy WR3 in Norv Turner's offense under head coach Rob Chudzinski, but preseason hype will probably make the second-year snare a pricey middle-rounds commodity. He might meet expectations, though, thanks to his deep prowess and Turner's history with big-play wideouts. Little, Bess and Nelson might cap each others' ceiling for production, but they all could serve as solid fantasy depth.
Fri, 03 May 2013 20:24:31 -0700

Cleveland Browns WR Davone Bess not only wants to produce on the field, but wants to be a leader off the field. "Obviously, they have a bunch of young guys there who had pretty good seasons last year," Bess said. "[I'm ready] to come in and just share my knowledge and be able to help out a group not only from a physical, playmaking standpoint, but just more mental and just understanding the game of football from an Xs and Os standpoint. From what I heard, the guys are great, and I'm looking forward to meeting them all and jelling this team together."

Fri, 26 Apr 2013 16:06:02 -0700
The Cleveland Browns acquired WR Davone Bess from the Miami Dolphins Friday, April 26. The Browns and Dolphins have finalized the deal, but are working out the compensation.
Fantasy Tip: The Browns couldn't be pleased with Greg Little and all of his drops in the slot, so they add a veteran with capable hands who was expendable after the offseason additions of the Miami Dolphins. Bess can be depended on as a WR4 or flex play in fantasy leagues of 12 or more teams.

Mon, 18 Mar 2013 13:52:34 -0700
Miami Dolphins general manager Jeff Ireland said the team has no plans of getting rid of WR Davone Bess but did indicate the team sees him as a depth player.
Fantasy Tip: Bess likely is behind Mike Wallace, Brian Hartline, and Brandon Gibson on the depth chart and likely will be the No. 4 receiver at best entering training camp. He likely will not be a fantasy option in 2013 if he remains with the Dolphins. Bess could be a sleeper in point-per-reception leagues because he will be used as a slot receiver, but it is not known how much playing time he will lose to Gibson.
Sun, 17 Mar 2013 18:00:26 -0700
Updating a previous report, Miami Dolphins WR Davone Bess is not immediately in danger of being cut despite the team's adding of free-agent WRs Brandon Gibson and Mike Wallace, as well as the re-signing of WR Brian Hartline.
Fantasy Tip: Bess could stick around, but his fantasy value takes a huge hit with all of those talented receivers joining the fray. Bess has been arguing the No. 1 or 2 wideout in Miami for the past couple of years, but he is likely to see much less of the field as long as those others remain healthy. Heading into Draft Day, he is likely to go unpicked in a majority of leagues if his situation remains the same.
Sun, 17 Mar 2013 09:41:21 -0700
