The Baltimore Orioles have signed Ps Jake Arrieta, Mike Belfiore, Zach Britton, Zach Clark, Miguel Gonzalez, Steven Johnson, T.J. McFarland, Pedro Strop and Chris Tillman, INFs Ryan Flaherty, Manny Machado, Yamaico Navarro, Jonathan Schoop and Danny Valencia, OFs Xavier Avery and L.J. Hoes and C Luis Exposito to one-year contracts.

Baltimore Orioles general manager Dan Duquette has said he would be open to adding another relief pitcher, even though he has a full relief corps. The Orioles currently have CL Jim Johnson and RP's Pedro Strop, Darren O'Day, Luis Ayala and Troy Patton. RP Tommy Hunter is a likely candidate to return, as is RP Brian Matusz. "The bullpen was strong last year," Duquette said. "These guys are at the age where some of them should improve and a couple of them should be able to maintain and perform at the level they did this past year, but that wouldn't preclude us from adding some additional depth to our pitching staff."

Baltimore Orioles RP Pedro Strop is expected to pitch for the Dominican Republic in the World Baseball Classic next spring. RP Jim Johnson was asked to be a part of Team USA, but he's expected to pass it up. SP Wei-Yin Chen is not expected to pitch for Taiwan.

Baltimore Orioles RP Pedro Strop worked around two hits in a scoreless ninth inning Wednesday, April 25, against the Toronto Blue Jays for his second save in as many nights. He continues to fill in for RP Jim Johnson (illness), who remains hospitalized due to some sort of bacterial infection.
