INFs Everth Cabrera and Alexi Amarista will be recalled from Triple-A Tucson. The Padres will owe Hudson his $5.5 million for this year plus a $2 million buyout if he isn't claimed by another team.

He has a pretrial conference scheduled for Thursday, May 17. "We're looking at our options to see where we can improve our roster," general manager Josh Byrnes said. "As it pertains to Everth, we want to be aware of his legal issues. We just have to be aware of it and act accordingly."

Blanks' shoulder is still sore, and manager Bud Black said there "is some kind of an impingement." There is no timetable on Blanks. If he opens the year on the DL, both SS Everth Cabrera and OF Andrew Parrino are expected to make the roster. OF Jeremy Hermida is also in consideration.

SS Everth Cabrera (shoulder) and OF Kyle Blanks (knee) are both expected to return to action soon.
