Giants | Everth Cabrera signs with Giants

Thu, 16 Jul 2015 14:23:37 -0700

Free-agent 2B Everth Cabrera (Orioles) signed a minor league deal with the San Francisco Giants Thursday, July 16.

Fantasy Tip: There's no guarantee that Cabrera will even reach the majors with the Giants, but he's always intriguing for fantasy owners because of his speed. However, he's blocked in the infield by Brandon Crawford and Joe Panik, and Cabrera is likely to be a utility infielder, at best, for the Giants. Keep an eye on him in NL-only leagues.

Giants | SF interested in Everth Cabrera

Fri, 10 Jul 2015 18:56:21 -0700

The San Francisco Giants are among several teams that have expressed interest in free-agent SS Everth Cabrera (Orioles).

Fantasy Tip: Cabrera is being pursued to strengthen the Giants' middle infield depth. He hit .208 with four RBIs and two stolen bases in 29 games for Baltimore earlier this season.

Mets | NYM unlikely to pursue Everth Cabrera

Fri, 19 Jun 2015 17:51:25 -0700

The New York Mets are not expected to pursue SS Everth Cabrera, who was recently designated for assignment by the Baltimore Orioles, according to a team official. The Mets had expressed interest in Cabrera last offseason as a free agent but they are pleased with the production of SS Wilmer Flores, 2B Dilson Herrera and INF Ruben Tejada.

Fantasy Tip: Cabrera hit .208 with four RBIs and two steals in 29 games for the O's before being let go. It wouldn't be surprising to see another team pick him up but he is unlikely to be a viable fantasy option again this season.

Orioles | Everth Cabrera designated

Sat, 13 Jun 2015 15:57:07 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SS Everth Cabrera has been designated for assignment Saturday, June 13, the move created roster room for C Matt Wieters.

Fantasy Tip: Cabrera was hitting just .208 with zero home runs and two stolen bases. Another team will likely give Cabrera a chance, but he's unlikely to become a fantasy option again in 2015.

Orioles | J.J. Hardy out again

Thu, 04 Jun 2015 10:29:51 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SS J.J. Hardy (oblique) is out of the lineup again Thursday, June 4. 2B Everth Cabrera is starting at the 6 and hitting ninth in the batting order against Houston Astros SP Dallas Keuchel.

Fantasy Tip: Hardy is improving and is expected to return to the lineup tomorrow night. Cabrera ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) will have the benefit of hitting right-handed against the southpaw, but he still remains a low-end second base option on FantasyScore against one of the best pitchers in the American League this season.

Orioles | Everth Cabrera starting at shortstop

Mon, 01 Jun 2015 14:52:17 -0700

Baltimore Orioles 2B Everth Cabrera is batting ninth and playing shortstop against the Houston Astros Monday, June 1.

Fantasy Tip: Cabrera ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) has only received 10 plate appearances since returning form a foot injury Sunday, May 24. And for the season, he is sporting an uninspiring a .209/.245/.231 slash line. He is nothing more than a desperation source of cap relief for daily players, and you should aim higher.

Orioles | Steve Pearce at 2B Tuesday

Tue, 26 May 2015 13:27:23 -0700

Baltimore Orioles OF Steve Pearce is starting at second base and hitting fifth in the batting order against Houston Astros SP Scott Feldman Tuesday, May 26. 2B Everth Cabrera is starting on the bench.

Fantasy Tip: Pearce ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) is hitting just .188 (9-for-48) with three home runs and 10 RBI in May, but righties have an .883 OPS against Feldman in 2015. After Pearce went deep last night, he might be worth it as a sleeper pick at FantasyScore tonight.

Orioles | Everth Cabrera starting at 2B

Mon, 25 May 2015 08:34:22 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SS Everth Cabrera will be the starting second baseman for the team Monday, May 25.

Fantasy Tip: Cabrera ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) recently returned from the disabled list and is back in the starting lineup. Cabrera could be a risky option on FantasyScore since he is still coming back from his injury and is batting only .212 so far this season.

Orioles | Everth Cabrera in for J.J. Hardy

Sun, 24 May 2015 08:25:29 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SS Everth Cabrera will start at shortstop and bat sixth in the order Sunday, May 24, against the Miami Marlins. SS J.J. Hardy will go to the bench.

Fantasy Tip: Cabrera ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) is a switch-hitter who slightly favors right-handed pitchers. Cabrera shouldn't be highly owned against Marlins righty Tom Koehler, making him a deep flier in GPP tournaments.

Orioles | Everth Cabrera back from DL

Fri, 22 May 2015 14:59:16 -0700

Baltimore Orioles 2B Everth Cabrera (foot) was activated from the 15-day disabled list Friday, May 22, and the Orioles optioned 2B Rey Navarro to Class AAA Norfolk in a corresponding move. Cabrera had a slash line of .208/.240/.250 with a double, RBI and three runs in six games with Norfolk. Before going on the DL, Cabrera was hitless in his last 17 at-bats and was 5-for-37 in 11 games.

Fantasy Tip: Cabrera ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) could be in a platoon with Steve Pearce ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) at second base until Jonathan Schoop returns from the DL. Cabrera can also fill in at shortstop when J.J. Hardy needs a breather. Cabrera, however, is a low-end second base play until we see him break out of his offensive funk, and limited playing time doesn't help his cause.
