Orioles | Everth Cabrera back from DL

Fri, 22 May 2015 14:59:16 -0700

Baltimore Orioles 2B Everth Cabrera (foot) was activated from the 15-day disabled list Friday, May 22, and the Orioles optioned 2B Rey Navarro to Class AAA Norfolk in a corresponding move. Cabrera had a slash line of .208/.240/.250 with a double, RBI and three runs in six games with Norfolk. Before going on the DL, Cabrera was hitless in his last 17 at-bats and was 5-for-37 in 11 games.

Fantasy Tip: Cabrera ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) could be in a platoon with Steve Pearce ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) at second base until Jonathan Schoop returns from the DL. Cabrera can also fill in at shortstop when J.J. Hardy needs a breather. Cabrera, however, is a low-end second base play until we see him break out of his offensive funk, and limited playing time doesn't help his cause.

Orioles | Everth Cabrera ready to return

Thu, 21 May 2015 08:36:04 -0700

Baltimore Orioles 2B Everth Cabrera (foot) is expected to return from his disabled list stint Friday, May 22, according to manager Buck Showalter.

Fantasy Tip: Cabrera ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) wasn't making a significant impact before the injury, especially where his biggest value lies in the stolen base department. He stands to see plenty of at-bats at second base, and he'll maintain fleeting value in AL-only and deep mixed leagues until Jonathan Shoop returns from his knee injury. FantasyScore players should view Cabrera as a desperation flier until he proves otherwise.

Orioles | Everth Cabrera to DL

Thu, 07 May 2015 16:12:07 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SS Everth Cabrera (foot) was put on the 15-day disabled list with a bruised left foot Thursday, May 7. SS J.J. Hardy (shoulder) was activated from the DL in a corresponding move.

Fantasy Tip: Hardy ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) will immediately return to the starting shortstop duties, and he won't be limited at all. You'll want to give him at least a few games to get back into the swing of things before clicking him at FantasyScore.

Orioles | Everth Cabrera having X-ray taken

Thu, 07 May 2015 14:57:48 -0700

Baltimore Orioles 2B/SS Everth Cabrera (foot) underwent an X-ray exam Thursday, May 7, after he was hit in the foot by a pitch during the game Wednesday, May 6.

Fantasy Tip: Cabrera ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) stands to be the odd man out now that J.J.Hardy is back in the mix. Cabrera has hit just .205 through 83 at-bats this season. Continue to check back for updates on the severity of his foot injury, but expecting significant fantasy returns going forward is ill-advised.

Orioles | Delmon Young facing lefty Tuesday

Tue, 21 Apr 2015 11:42:11 -0700

Baltimore Orioles OF Delmon Young is starting in left field and hitting fifth in the batting order against Toronto Blue Jays left-handed SP Mark Buehrle Tuesday, April 21. OF Alejandro De Aza is not in the lineup, while SS Everth Cabrera moves up to the leadoff spot.

Fantasy Tip: Young ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) will likely be a fixture in Baltimore's lineup when they face a lefty this year, and he has excellent history against Buehrle in his career. Young is 21-for-53 (.396) with four home runs and nine RBI off the veteran southpaw, making him a really nice FantasyScore play on the cheap Tuesday night.

Orioles | Everth Cabrera leading off Sunday

Sun, 19 Apr 2015 10:23:10 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SS Everth Cabrera is batting first in the starting lineup Sunday, April 19.

Fantasy Tip: Cabrera ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) has seen consistent playing time this season and is batting .273 in nine games. He also only has one stolen base in that span. Cabrera could be an option for owners on FantasyScore that are looking to save some money.

Orioles | Everth Cabrera expected to play Tuesday

Mon, 06 Apr 2015 11:58:40 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SS Everth Cabrera probably will be in the starting lineup Tuesday, April 7, according to manager Buck Showalter.

Fantasy Tip: Cabrera ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) likely will not be an everyday player for the Orioles this season but should receive some starts during the season. Cabrera is a cheaper option for owners on FantasyScore to consider since he has the potential to steal bases.

Orioles | Everth Cabrera, Ryan Flaherty options at SS

Mon, 30 Mar 2015 15:15:46 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SS Everth Cabrera and 2B Ryan Flaherty are options to play the 6 with SS J.J. Hardy (shoulder) expected to start the season on the disabled list. Hardy was diagnosed with a subscapularis strain, a muscle under the shoulder blade, and he won't do any baseball activities for 10 days. Hardy would be eligible to play April 11, but he won't be ready on that date.

Fantasy Tip: Hardy ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) should be ignored for much of the first month of the season at FantasyScore. Cabrera ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) is an intriguing stolen base asset for a cheap cost in daily games to open 2015. He should be owned in AL-only leagues if he's not already, and he could be worth a stab as a late-round flier in deep mixed leagues for some stolen bases out of the gates.

Orioles | Everth Cabrera to compete for utility role

Wed, 25 Feb 2015 09:00:43 -0800

Baltimore Orioles SS Everth Cabrera, who was signed to a one-year, $2.4 million deal with $600,000 in incentives, could compete for a utility infield role with 2Bs Ryan Flaherty and Jayson Nix.

Fantasy Tip: Cabrera is just a year removed from stealing 37 bases with the San Diego Padres, and the year before that he had 44 thefts. He's obviously best known for his speed, and he could make an impact on deep mixed rosters if he sees enough playing time. He's worth a late-round stab if you're looking to add some steals.

Orioles | BAL deal with Everth Cabrera finalized

Tue, 24 Feb 2015 13:21:17 -0800

Baltimore Orioles SS Everth Cabrera finalized his deal with the team and reported to spring camp.

Fantasy Tip: As previously mentioned in another tip, Cabrera could be a solid late-round option depending on how much playing time he gets. He will be a decent fantasy option at short if J.J. Hardy gets hurt, but otherwise his playing time could be limited.
