The Minnesota Twins will recall SP Samuel Deduno and place him in the rotation Friday, May 24, passing up top prospect Kyle Gibson. Deduno will replace Pedro Hernandez.

Fantasy Tip: Deduno is best known for his success in this March's World Baseball Classic for the champion Dominican Republic squad. His control issues have held him back from taking a step forward in the bigs, though AL-only scroungers could find useful, roster-capping innings here, especially during home starts. Gibson, however, should be a factor for the Twins sometime this summer after his Super 2 status clears.

Minnesota Twins SPs Kyle Gibson, P.J. Walters and Samuel Deduno are all candidates to start Friday, May 24.

Fantasy Tip: Gibson easily has the most upside of this group, but the Twins may decide to be cautious with him since it's his first full season since returning from Tommy John surgery. Gibson is the only one of these three that warrants consideration in mixed leagues.

Minnesota Twins assistant general manager Rob Antony said SP Samuel Deduno (groin) is expected to be limited to 75-90 pitches in a rehab start for Triple-A Rochester Sunday, May 5.

The Minnesota Twins reassigned SP Samuel Deduno (groin) to minor league camp Tuesday, March 26. He has battled a groin injury and will begin the season with Triple-A Rochester. P P.J. Walters was also sent down to the minors.

Minnesota Twins SP Samuel Deduno (groin) has been shut down and will be unable to make his scheduled start Sunday, March 24, because of a groin injury suffered during the World Baseball Classic title game. SP P.J. Walters will start in his place.

Minnesota Twins manager Ron Gardenhire was impressed with how SP Samuel Deduno pitched in the World Baseball Classic, and he said he's firmly in the mix for a starting rotation spot.

Fantasy Tip: Deduno induces enough grounders and is dominant enough to be considered in AL leagues, and if he can improve his control, there could really be something here.

Minnesota Twins SP Liam Hendriks (elbow) has been throwing with no issues since late December after having a bone chip removed from his elbow in November of last year. He's on the same throwing program as the rest of pitchers in camp and will throw his second bullpen session Saturday, Feb. 16. Hendriks is working on the alignment in his delivery as he competes for the No. 5 spot in the rotation with SPs Kyle Gibson, Rich Harden, Samuel Deduno, P.J. Walters and Cole De Vries.
