Mon, 17 Jun 2013 05:47:01 -0700 Baltimore Ravens RB Ray Rice said he's ready to step into a leadership role for the team. "A leadership role is something I definitely don't mind taking upon now, because I was mentored by one of the greatest leaders probably ever to play the game in Ray Lewis," Rice said. "A lot of his leading was by example, and when he spoke, everybody listened because they had that respect for him. So I think being a leader comes with how much respect people have for you. These guys look at the way I work and they understand that my actions are going to show on the field."
Tue, 14 May 2013 16:29:41 -0700 Baltimore Ravens RB Ray Rice, who has caught 311 passes for 2,713 yards in the last five years, wants to increase his role in the team's passing game this year. Rice caught 61 passes for 478 yards and one touchdown last season. Rice leads all running backs in the last five years with 91 catches and 863 yards on third downs. He set a franchise record for a running back with 78 receptions for 702 yards and a touchdown in 2009. Rice said that run-game coordinator Juan Castillo will make slight changes to the running game this season. Fantasy Tip: Rice remains a No. 1 running back, especially in point-per-reception leagues because of his involvement in the passing game. However, he has tons of mileage on his wheels, and at this point in his career, you have to expect some decline in production. He might wind up producing more in line with a No. 2 in regular formats this year.
Mon, 13 May 2013 17:24:53 -0700 Baltimore Ravens RB Ray Rice said that run-game coordinator Juan Castillo will be making slight adjustments to the running game in 2013. "I'm looking forward to executing a lot of different things that we've always talked about," Rice said, "and staying at a high level."
Mon, 13 May 2013 17:14:12 -0700 Baltimore Ravens RB Ray Rice is participating in the team's offseason conditioning program, and is in terrific shape. "I picked a specific area where this year, I actually ended the season and realized I was about 213, which I usually play at 212," said Rice. "I try to work on different things." Rice worked out on his own in the 2012 offseason.
Mon, 13 May 2013 16:59:42 -0700 Baltimore Ravens RB Ray Rice wants to become a bigger receiving threat out of the backfield in 2013. "Now that guys know that I'm a threat out of the backfield, I got to use my hands a little more," Rice said. "I get pushed a lot coming out of the backfield, and that's a sign of respect, but if I can get my hands and get out on pass routes and continue to get open for Joe Flacco." Fantasy Tip: Rice, one of the premier running backs in the NFL, caught 61 passes for 478 yards and one touchdown in 2012. If he can improve on those numbers, his fantasy football value will continue to increase, especially in PPR leagues.
Wed, 13 Feb 2013 08:53:54 -0800 Baltimore Ravens RB Ray Rice said the firing of former offensive coordinator Cam Cameron served as a wake-up call for players. "We all felt like, you know what, Cam was the playcaller, but we had to go out there and make the plays," Rice said. "It was an attention grabber. But coach (Jim) Caldwell, what he did for us, he kept things simple. He just preached one thing, 'Let's do what we do, but let's do it really well.'"
Mon, 04 Feb 2013 05:32:31 -0800 Baltimore Ravens RB Ray Rice has five fumbles lost in his postseason career, two more than any other active player.
Mon, 21 Jan 2013 08:03:22 -0800 Buffalo Bills RB C.J. Spiller will take the spot of Baltimore Ravens RB Ray Rice in the Pro Bowl.
Sun, 13 Jan 2013 14:23:27 -0800 Baltimore Ravens RB Ray Rice rushed for 94 yards and one touchdown between the tackles against the Denver Broncos in the Divisional Round playoff game, which was the most the Broncos have given up in that situation this season.

Thu, 10 Jan 2013 05:56:59 -0800 Baltimore Ravens RB Ray Rice has fumbled just seven times in five regular seasons in the NFL; however, in eight playoff games, he has fumbled five times, losing four of them. Rice is averaging one fumble every 30 touches in the postseason. Rice's playoff struggles extend beyond fumbles. He has rushed for more than 70 yards just once in eight games, and with opposing defenses keying on him, he has averaged less than four yards per carry in five games.

Sun, 30 Dec 2012 09:05:36 -0800 Baltimore Ravens RB Ray Rice is expected to see limited playing time, like for only a series or two, in his team's Week 17 game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Fantasy Tip: A change in Rice's outlook for fantasy owners still playing: Rice is much too risky to play this week, and Bernard Pierce looks like an attractive option for those still playing.
Thu, 27 Dec 2012 07:32:36 -0800 Baltimore Ravens RB Ray Rice has been named AFC Offensive Player of the Week for Week 16.
Sat, 22 Dec 2012 06:10:31 -0800 Baltimore Ravens RB Ray Rice is on pace to finish with his fewest rushing and receiving yards since his rookie season. Barring a dramatic workload increase over the final two games, Rice will have his fewest carries since 2009, his first year as a starter. Rice, however, feels his lack of involvement is tied to the overall struggles of the offense. "If we execute at a high level, we execute on third down, there's no doubt in my mind that I'm coming out of the game with 18 to 25 touches," Rice said when asked about how he is used and his number of carries. "When you're getting three-and-outs, three-and-outs, three-and-outs, and then the other team is scoring, there's no time to hand the ball off to Ray Rice. That's just being honest about your touches. My touches are going to come when we execute at a high level … I'm just trying to stay effective. Obviously, I know my role on the offense hasn't changed."
Mon, 17 Dec 2012 09:10:40 -0800 In Week 15, new Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Jim Caldwell ran some bunch formations and more stretch plays - plays that were a familiar part of the playbook with the Indianapolis Colts, Caldwell's former team; however, RB Ray Rice said the differences between Caldwell's game plan and former coordinator Cam Cameron's were minimal. "The plays were the same," Rice said. "The playbook was the same. Same play calls. We just didn't execute."
Mon, 17 Dec 2012 07:54:04 -0800 Baltimore Ravens RB Ray Rice had 15 touches for 41 yards in Week 15, his first game under new offensive coordinator Jim Caldwell. Rice posted season lows with 41 yards from scrimmage and a 2.7 yards per touch average. He was targeted on 18 plays (12 rushes, three receptions on five targets), none of which came on third down. The game marked the fourth time this season Rice did not touch the ball on third down.

Thu, 13 Dec 2012 05:06:15 -0800 Heading into their Week 15 matchup with the Baltimore Ravens, the Denver Broncos believe they will receive a heavy dose of RB Ray Rice, particularly after the team made a change at the offensive coordinator position. "Oh definitely I think they're going to look to use Ray Rice more," SS Jim Leonhard said. "He's a difficult matchup because of all the things he can do." Under former offensive coordinator Cam Cameron, Rice had four games with 13 or fewer carries.
Wed, 12 Dec 2012 14:00:16 -0800 Baltimore Ravens RB Ray Rice (hip) was limited during practice Wednesday, Dec. 12.
Mon, 10 Dec 2012 07:55:08 -0800 Updating previous reports, Baltimore Ravens RB Ray Rice's (hip) hip pointer is slight. He didn't appear to be in major discomfort after the Week 14 game.
Sun, 09 Dec 2012 17:02:35 -0800 Baltimore Ravens RB Ray Rice (hip) indicated after the Week 14 game against the Washington Redskins that he suffered a hip pointer. He still finished with 121 rushing yards and a touchdown on 20 carries, and he added 15 receiving yards on three grabs. It was his first 100-yard rushing performance since Week 5.
Thu, 06 Dec 2012 05:47:29 -0800 Baltimore Ravens RB Ray Rice is not frustrated over his lack of late-game touches in recent weeks. Rice is on pace to rush for 1,162 yards after gaining a career-high 1,364 yards last season. He ranks 13th in the NFL rushing attempts. "I think 13th right now is OK because we have been winning games," Rice said. "We will find a way to get the ball into our playmakers' hands. Obviously, I think I'm a playmaker for this team. The coaches, we'll find a way to get me the ball. One thing I don't like is being forced the ball ... Getting smart touches and getting touches that I can make a big play, that's something that I get excited about."
Mon, 03 Dec 2012 08:13:49 -0800 Baltimore Ravens RB Ray Rice didn't touch the ball in the fourth quarter of Week 13 after gaining 44 yards on his last two carries of the third quarter. Rice only had 13 touches. The Ravens are 32-10 when Rice gets 20 touches or more, a .761 winning percentage. They are 12-10 when he touches the ball fewer than 20 times, a .545 winning percentage.
Sun, 02 Dec 2012 20:05:06 -0800 Baltimore Ravens RB Ray Rice carried 12 times for 78 yards and a touchdown in the Week 13 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, and he added one reception for five yards. Fantasy Tip: Rice will face another difficult rushing defense in Week 14, as the Washington Redskins have allowed just 89.2 yards per game on the ground heading into Week 13. That ranks third in the NFL, even ahead of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Still, Rice should be considered a must-start in all fantasy leagues regardless of the opponent.
Fri, 30 Nov 2012 18:07:39 -0800 Baltimore Ravens RB Bernard Pierce is starting to provide more of a complementary role to RB Ray Rice, carrying the ball 28 times in the past four games with 94 rushing yards and a score. He had nine carries in Week 12 against the San Diego Chargers. "I'm starting to gain more trust with the coaches and the players," Pierce said Friday, Nov. 30. "Once I get a groove going, I feel comfortable. I can't wait to be able to learn more than I already know."
Wed, 28 Nov 2012 06:44:46 -0800 Baltimore Ravens RB Ray Rice has been named AFC Offensive Player of the Week for Week 12.
Sun, 25 Nov 2012 20:31:39 -0800 Baltimore Ravens RB Ray Rice had 22 carries for 97 yards in Week 12 against the San Diego Chargers, and he added eight receptions for 67 yards. Rice had a huge conversion on fourth down and 29 from their own 37-yard line with 1:37 left in regulation with his team trailing by three points.
Sun, 18 Nov 2012 22:36:59 -0800 Baltimore Ravens RB Ray Rice carried 20 times for 40 yards in Week 11 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, and he added five receptions for 53 yards. Fantasy Tip: Rice saw his two-game scoring streak come to an end against a strong Steelers defense. He remains a must-start fantasy option, even in the rematch against Pittsburgh in two weeks.

Sun, 11 Nov 2012 18:08:55 -0800 Baltimore Ravens RB Ray Rice was able to run for a touchdown in Week 10 against the Oakland Raiders, but he managed just 35 rushing yards on 13 carries. He added four receptions for 33 yards.
Sat, 10 Nov 2012 09:19:38 -0800 Baltimore Ravens RB Ray Rice said he is looking forward to having a big Week 10 performance against the Oakland Raiders after watching Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin run for 251 yards against the Raiders last week. "Obviously, you look at it and you start to get excited when you see it happening," Rice said. "Anybody goes over 200 yards, you have to figure there is a problem there ... The problem that I saw on film was tackling. I guess his height helped him out. I think his size helped him out a little bit, too."
Sun, 04 Nov 2012 13:43:49 -0800 Baltimore Ravens RB Ray Rice rushed for 98 yards and one touchdown on 25 carries against the Cleveland Browns in Week 9.
Thu, 01 Nov 2012 08:19:52 -0700 Baltimore Ravens RB Ray Rice said he is feeling fresh entering the second half of the season. And though he understands the offense is loaded with talent, he expects to have a bigger workload, roughly 20 to 25 touches per game. "I know where I am most effective. That 20-to-25 touch range is usually pretty good, but we know there's only one football to go around," Rice said. "With the talent that we have on our offense, the more and more we are capable of using everyone, the better we'll be. Obviously, this is the healthiest I've felt in a while - obviously, coming off the bye and doing the right things to take care of my body. I'm looking forward to a nice workload the second half of the season."
Thu, 01 Nov 2012 08:15:36 -0700 Baltimore Ravens RB Ray Rice has averaged 134.7 yards rushing and scored two touchdowns on the road in four career games against the Cleveland Browns. His last trip to Cleveland resulted in a career-best 204 yards rushing. Rice said the playing surface has helped his production. "I love playing on grass," Rice said. "It's a little different surface. Obviously, when you're cutting, you get better traction on the turf. Any running back will tell you on grass you can't over pursue as much, because the cutting is different on that grass, and obviously, on a wet field it's really a lot different. We just went out there and ran the ball really well last year, but that's last year." In four games in Cleveland, Rice also has never had fewer than 20 carries.
Thu, 25 Oct 2012 05:44:57 -0700 Baltimore Ravens RB Ray Rice has not been as involved offensively so far this season. He is averaging 15.1 carries and 4.1 receptions, in addition to being targeted 6.1 times per game. Last season, Rice averaged 18.2 carries per game and 4.8 receptions while being targeted 6.5 times per game. He had 11 games with at least 20 touches and eight with 25 or more. The team wants Rice to take less of a pounding this season; however, his workload could increase moving forward. Head coach John Harbaugh said he wants the ball in Rice's hands more often. "We want to get the ball in all of our playmakers' hands. We probably didn't do that like we wanted to," Harbaugh said.
Mon, 22 Oct 2012 06:58:36 -0700 Baltimore Ravens RB Ray Rice has averaged 19.3 rushes in the team's wins since the start of 2011, including postseason, but has averaged just 13.9 rushes in losses. As a result of not using Rice more, QB Joe Flacco's playaction passing suffers. In Week 7, Flacco was just 2-for-7 passing on playaction for 12 yards and an interception. Rice had just nine carries in the game.

Thu, 27 Sep 2012 09:35:14 -0700 Baltimore Ravens RB Ray Rice has made the most of his opportunities so far this season. He has not received more than 20 carries in the first three games but he still ranks seventh in the NFL in rushing. Offensive coordinator Cam Cameron said he has a feel on how to use Rice so that he stays fresh during the course of a season. "I think there's a sweet spot on how much you can use a three-down back in this business over a 20-game-plus season. We think we've found that sweet spot for him," Cameron said. "It will vary a little bit from week to week, but you can't find many backs in this league that can last 16, 20 games, much less (for) five seasons. So I think we've got a good feel for what is best for him and what is best for us."
Wed, 26 Sep 2012 19:01:03 -0700 Baltimore Ravens RB Ray Rice has posted 775 rushing yards against the Cleveland Browns, averaging 96.9 rushing yards in eight career games. Mon, 17 Sep 2012 08:42:54 -0700 Baltimore Ravens RB Ray Rice had just nine carries for 21 yards in the second half of Week 2 after recording 78 yards rushing on seven carries in the first half. The Ravens went with pass plays in what normally would be rush situations later in the game.
