Tue, 14 May 2013 16:29:41 -0700 Baltimore Ravens RB Ray Rice, who has caught 311 passes for 2,713 yards in the last five years, wants to increase his role in the team's passing game this year. Rice caught 61 passes for 478 yards and one touchdown last season. Rice leads all running backs in the last five years with 91 catches and 863 yards on third downs. He set a franchise record for a running back with 78 receptions for 702 yards and a touchdown in 2009. Rice said that run-game coordinator Juan Castillo will make slight changes to the running game this season. Fantasy Tip: Rice remains a No. 1 running back, especially in point-per-reception leagues because of his involvement in the passing game. However, he has tons of mileage on his wheels, and at this point in his career, you have to expect some decline in production. He might wind up producing more in line with a No. 2 in regular formats this year.

"I picked a specific area where this year, I actually ended the season and realized I was about 213, which I usually play at 212," said Rice. "I try to work on different things." Rice worked out on his own in the 2012 offseason.
Mon, 13 May 2013 16:59:42 -0700 Baltimore Ravens RB Ray Rice wants to become a bigger receiving threat out of the backfield in 2013. "Now that guys know that I'm a threat out of the backfield, I got to use my hands a little more," Rice said. "I get pushed a lot coming out of the backfield, and that's a sign of respect, but if I can get my hands and get out on pass routes and continue to get open for Joe Flacco." Fantasy Tip: Rice, one of the premier running backs in the NFL, caught 61 passes for 478 yards and one touchdown in 2012. If he can improve on those numbers, his fantasy football value will continue to increase, especially in PPR leagues.
Wed, 13 Feb 2013 08:53:54 -0800 Baltimore Ravens RB Ray Rice said the firing of former offensive coordinator Cam Cameron served as a wake-up call for players. "We all felt like, you know what, Cam was the playcaller, but we had to go out there and make the plays," Rice said. "It was an attention grabber. But coach (Jim) Caldwell, what he did for us, he kept things simple. He just preached one thing, 'Let's do what we do, but let's do it really well.'"
