NFL | Ray Rice wants to retire the right way

Tue, 04 Aug 2015 17:00:34 -0700

Free-agent RB Ray Rice (Ravens) told ESPN's Jemele Hill in an interview that aired Tuesday, Aug. 4, he wants a chance to retire after playing. "I have a lot of hope and faith that I'll be able to hang 'em up the right way. That's what's keeping me going. That's what's keeping me working. My wife and my kid believe in me. They're pushing me harder sometimes than I can push myself. I just want to give it all," Rice said.

Fantasy Tip: Rice is 28 years old and nearing the expiration date for running backs, which is likely more of an issue for NFL teams than the domestic violence charge that led to Rice's suspension and release from the Ravens last season. Rice's yards per carry had plummeted to a woeful 3.1 in 2013, and it's difficult to have belief in a bounce back year.

Cowboys | Dallas still not interested in veterans

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 17:50:51 -0700

The Dallas Cowboys are still not interested in veteran RBs Chris Johnson and Ray Rice, following the release of RB Ryan Williams Tuesday, July 28. The Cowboys remain confident in RBs Joseph Randle, Darren McFadden and Lance Dunbar.

Fantasy Tip: While Randle and McFadden are thought to have separated themselves from Dunbar, neither one has an upper hand over the other at this point. This will be one of the most closely watched position battles all preseason.

NFL | Teams interested in Ray Rice

Fri, 24 Jul 2015 14:23:00 -0700

Updating a previous report, free-agent RB Ray Rice (Ravens) has drawn interest from NFL teams, but those teams are supposedly reluctant to sign him, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: It's to be understood that teams would hesitate to sign Rice after his off-field domestic violence issue last season. Interest in Rice could gain steam as training camps begin and the start of the season approaches. Stay tuned.

NFL | Ray Rice working hard to join league again

Fri, 24 Jul 2015 11:42:14 -0700

Free-agent RB Ray Rice (Ravens) has been working out daily to get in shape in case a NFL team becomes interested. Rice and his supporters have been contacting teams to try to get him another opportunity.

Fantasy Tip: It will be hard for teams to gain enough interest in Rice to sign him. Teams are staying away from Rice because of his off-field situation last year and because he is relatively old for a running back.

NFL | Ray Rice not hearing from teams

Mon, 06 Jul 2015 10:08:56 -0700

Free-agent RB Ray Rice (Ravens) has not received interest from teams this offseason.

Fantasy Tip: Rice has not played since he was suspended last year. Rice did not put up great numbers during his last full season in the league, which likely is another factor as to why he has not received interest. Rice could be an option if a team loses a running back during the preseason, but he likely will not have much fantasy value.

Bills | BUF not interested in Ray Rice

Sun, 31 May 2015 11:26:40 -0700

Free-agent RB Ray Rice (Ravens) is not a player the Buffalo Bills are interested in signing, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Rice is finding it hard to sign with a team because of his off-field incident as well as his declining stats over the past few seasons. Rice could sign with a team before training camp but should not be a fantasy option at this point.

Cowboys | Dallas unlikely to add Ray Rice

Fri, 22 May 2015 08:31:10 -0700

Free-agent RB Ray Rice (Ravens) could be a consideration for the Dallas Cowboys in free agency, speculates The Dallas Morning News' Jon Machota. He cites Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones' willingness to give players a second chance and Dallas' continued search for running back depth. However, Machota notes the chance of Dallas pursuing Rice is unlikely due to Rice's time away from the game, drastic on-field decline in 2013, and Jones having to eventually draw a line in the sand with forgiving off-field incidents.

Fantasy Tip: Rice is free to sign wherever he pleases, but it remains a long shot, at best, for any team to take on the media circus and backlash that would follow. Avoid him in all leagues if you were considering him as a speculative addition.

NFL | Ray Rice's record cleared

Thu, 21 May 2015 07:55:28 -0700

Free-agent RB Ray Rice (Ravens) had his legal record cleared of the domestic violence charge after finishing a pretrial diversion program as part of the conditions of his sentencing for the 2014 legal matter.

Fantasy Tip: Rice hasn't worked out for any teams since being cut by the Ravens and is probably done in the NFL due to the toxicity of his situation.

NFL | Ray Rice hasn't had workouts

Tue, 24 Mar 2015 14:39:55 -0700

Free-agent RB Ray Rice (Ravens) hasn't had a workout with a team since he was released by the Baltimore Ravens after his domestic violence case.

Fantasy Tip: It seems unlikely that he'll be signed to play anywhere again since he hasn't had any looks at this point. You can count Rice out for fantasy football purposes in 2015, as of now.
