Jets | Extended absence for Matt Forte?

Fri, 10 Nov 2017 18:33:47 -0800

New York Jets RB Matt Forte's (knee) knee injury is creating concern that it could keep him sidelined beyond Week 10, according to Rich Cimini of ESPNNewYork.com.

Fantasy Tip: Forte has already been ruled out for Week 10, making Bilal Powell a RB2 candidate in PPR formats against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Jets | Matt Forte a no-go for Week 10

Fri, 10 Nov 2017 09:40:58 -0800

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) has been ruled out for Week 10 versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Fantasy Tip: Bilal Powell will get the start in a plus-matchup and should be considered a strong fantasy RB2, while Elijah McGuire makes for a potential flex option in a change-of-pace role. Considering Forte did not practice all this week, owners cannot assume he'll be ready for Week 11. Stay tuned.

Jets | Matt Forte out of practice Friday

Fri, 10 Nov 2017 08:14:55 -0800

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) is out of practice Friday, Nov. 10.

Fantasy Tip: Forte looks doubtful to go in Week 10. Bilal Powell would be an attractive RB2 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who are one of the worst teams against the position the last five weeks.

Jets | Matt Forte out of practice again

Thu, 09 Nov 2017 09:06:28 -0800

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) is out of practice Thursday, Nov. 9.

Fantasy Tip: He has swelling in his troublesome knee, and he might be in danger of missing Week 10 after a big week last week. Friday will be pivotal for the RB2 in fantasy.

Jets | Matt Forte has swelling in knee

Wed, 08 Nov 2017 23:16:56 -0800

Updating a previous report, New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) is dealing with swelling in his surgically repaired right knee. He did not practice Wednesday, Nov. 8.

Fantasy Tip: Forte has only missed one game this season, but when you hear the word "swelling" in conjunction with "surgically repaired" it's a concern -- especially when you consider the team hasn't done anything since last Thursday. Keep a close eye on the situation as the week progresses and be ready to deploy alternatives if Forte has to sit this Sunday.

Jets | Matt Forte unable to practice

Wed, 08 Nov 2017 12:34:56 -0800

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) did not practice Wednesday, Nov. 8.

Fantasy Tip: Forte has missed or been limited in practice plenty of times this season, but he has only missed one game. The veteran back has been steadily involved in the Jets' offense over the last few weeks and demands at least flex consideration with more value in PPR leagues.

Jets | Two scores for Matt Forte

Thu, 02 Nov 2017 20:56:19 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte rushed 14 times for 77 yards and two touchdowns and caught four passes for 19 yards in a 34-21 win over the Buffalo Bills in Week 9.

Fantasy Tip: It was Forte's best rushing performance of the year by a wide margin, and he found the end zone for the first time. This was probably the ceiling for the veteran, but with 29 catches on the year, he remains a viable flex option in PPR formats.

Jets | Matt Forte fully practices

Wed, 01 Nov 2017 12:09:18 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) was a full practice participant Wednesday, Nov. 1.

Fantasy Tip: Forte will be good to go tomorrow night, but he faces a top notch Buffalo Bills rush defense. He's mainly been involved in the passing game anyway and should only be started as a PPR flex.

Jets | Matt Forte limited Tuesday

Tue, 31 Oct 2017 15:44:19 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) was a limited participant in practice Tuesday, Oct. 31.

Fantasy Tip: Forte isn't going away after dealing with an injury earlier this season too. He has played an integral role in the Jets' passing game out of the backfield even with Bilal Powell healthy, but his rushing leaves something to be desired. Forte cannot be viewed as more than a flex in PPR leagues.

Jets | Matt Forte limited Monday

Mon, 30 Oct 2017 16:20:47 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) was limited during the team's walkthrough Monday, Oct. 30.

Fantasy Tip: Forte received 10 touches in Week 8 and has been involved in the passing game over the last several weeks. He will continue to share playing time with Bilal Powell but could be a flex option in point-per-reception leagues.

Jets | Matt Forte criticizes OC after loss

Sun, 29 Oct 2017 19:58:21 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte criticized the team's offensive coordinator publicly for abandoning the run during the Week 8 loss against the Atlanta Falcons. "I only had four carries this game, so I don't really think we ran the ball enough with the weather being the way it was," Forte said. He added, "It continued to rain the entire game. I think we only ran the ball 20 times. (There) should have been at least one person getting 20 carries - something like that - with the way the weather was. I thought we were going to grind them out on the ground like that, but it ended up not turning out that way."

Fantasy Tip: The Jets actually passed 37 times while running 21 times, which was surprising during a sloppy, rainy game. Forte's public criticism of the OC isn't likely to be popular with the brass, however, even if he was correct. He remains a fantasy reserve in most formats at this point of his career.

Jets | Matt Forte catches six passes

Sun, 29 Oct 2017 13:59:41 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte caught six passes for 45 yards against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 8. He also rushed for seven yards on four carries.

Fantasy Tip: Forte had a big role in the passing game over the last three weeks and has caught at least five passes in each of those games. He should be considered a flex option in point-per-reception leagues because of his role.

DE Muhammad Wilkerson (foot, shoulder) did not practice and is listed as questionable. WR Robby Anderson (ankle), OT Kelvin Beachum (knee), OG James Carpenter (shoulder), CB Morris Claiborne (ankle), DE Kony Ealy (shoulder), RB Matt Forte (knee), S Marcus Maye (back), QB Josh McCown (back), DT Steven McLendon (hamstring), DE Leonard Williams (wrist) and OG Brian Winters (abdomen) fully participated in practice and are not on the injury report.

Jets | Full practice for Matt Forte

Fri, 27 Oct 2017 12:12:58 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 27, and is not on the injury report for Week 8.

Fantasy Tip: Forte recorded 82 total yards last week and should receive a similar role against the Atlanta Falcons. Owners in deeper leagues can consider Forte as a flex option in Week 8.

Jets | Matt Forte downgraded

Thu, 26 Oct 2017 11:16:47 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) was limited in practice Thursday, Oct. 26.

Fantasy Tip: You never want to see a player take a step back in his practice participation. If Forte can get back to being full go on Friday then he can be considered as a flex, but his ceiling is greatly lowered when Bilal Powell is healthy.

Jets | Matt Forte fully practices

Wed, 25 Oct 2017 15:02:11 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) participated fully in practice Wednesday, Oct. 25.

Fantasy Tip: Forte has strung together back-to-back respectable performances, but he's just not doing enough to warrant starter consideration. His ceiling is much lower with Bilal Powell active, too, so don't start Forte unless you're desperate.

Jets | Matt Forte totals 82 scrimmage yards

Sun, 22 Oct 2017 18:29:26 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte rushed seven times for 41 yards in Week 7 against the Miami Dolphins while adding five receptions for a team-high 41 yards on five targets.

Fantasy Tip: Forte's toe didn't seem to bother him and he produced his most total scrimmage yardage since Week 2. Still, he hasn't found the end zone in his five games and he remains nothing more than an RB3 or flex fantasy play in leagues of 12 or more teams heading into Week 8 against Atlanta.

Jets | Matt Forte practices in full

Fri, 20 Oct 2017 12:32:59 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee, toe) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 20, and is not on the injury report for Week 7.

Fantasy Tip: Forte is coming off a solid Week 6 performance but probably will lose some touches with Bilal Powell back in the lineup. Forte may still have a role in the passing game this week and could be a flex option in deeper point-per-reception leagues.

Jets | Matt Forte fully practices

Thu, 19 Oct 2017 13:26:09 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee, toe) participated fully in practice Thursday, Oct. 19.

Fantasy Tip: Forte's fantasy value largely depends on Bilal Powell's status and Powell's status looks promising for Week 7. New York's backfield is somewhat of a crapshoot with Powell, Forte and Elijah McGuire, so start them at your own risk. Powell does possess the most upside.

Jets | Matt Forte limited in practice

Wed, 18 Oct 2017 15:09:44 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee, toe) was limited in practice Wednesday, Oct. 18.

Fantasy Tip: Forte rewarded owners who took a chance on him last week in their PPR matchups, catching 8 passes for 59 yards and gaining 22 yards on the ground. Forte's rushing effort left something to be desired, but he'll be a PPR flex candidate again if Bilal Powell misses another week.

Jets | Matt Forte has solid outing

Sun, 15 Oct 2017 14:03:13 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte rushed for 22 yards on nine carries against the New England Patriots in Week 6. He also caught eight passes for 59 yards during the game.

Fantasy Tip: Forte received most of the work at running back this week with Bilal Powell sidelined and could receive a similar role next week. He could be a flex option in leagues next week if he receives a similar workload.

Jets | Matt Forte not on injury report

Fri, 13 Oct 2017 15:36:15 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee, toe) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 13, and is not on the injury report for Week 6.

Fantasy Tip: It appears like Forte will be in uniform in Week 6 and likely will share work with Elijah McGuire. He should have a favorable matchup his week against the New England Patriots and could be a flex option in deeper leagues.

Jets | Matt Forte likely to go Week 6

Fri, 13 Oct 2017 10:16:37 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (toe) logged a full practice Friday, Oct. 13, and is expected to return from a two-game absence and play in Week 6 versus the New England Patriots.

Fantasy Tip: Forte was limited in practice Wednesday and Thursday, but he has apparently shown the coaches and trainers enough in practice to get the green light after dealing with turf toe. The fact he has been limited in practice this week suggests Elijah McGuire is the better play in fantasy, although it is entirely possible Forte sees a lot of work as a receiver in garbage if the Patriots race out to an early lead.

Jets | Matt Forte limited Thursday

Thu, 12 Oct 2017 11:15:06 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee, toe) was limited during practice Thursday, Oct. 12.

Wed, 11 Oct 2017 15:09:50 -0700

Updating a previous report, New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee, toe) was listed as a limited participant for practice Wednesday, Oct. 11.

Fantasy Tip: Forte has missed the past two games due to his ailment, but it appears he is progressing and getting closer to a return to game action. If both Forte and Bilal Powell are sidelined look for Elijah McGuire to get the starting nod in Week 6 against the New England Patriots.

Jets | Matt Forte, Bilal Powell unable to practice

Wed, 11 Oct 2017 10:56:49 -0700

New York Jets RBs Matt Forte (toe) and Bilal Powell (calf) did not practice Wednesday, Oct. 11, although Forte did warm up with the team.

Fantasy Tip: Forte has missed each of the last two games but appears much closer to playing than Powell, who was forced from the game early in Week 5. It's too early to say whether or not Forte will play in Week 6 versus the New England Patriots, and it's probably a good bet Elijah McGuire will draw the start even if Forte returns to full practice at some point this week. The case can be made for McGuire as a low-end flex this week, but it is mostly a situation to avoid in fantasy this week.

Jets | Matt Forte ruled out

Fri, 06 Oct 2017 09:59:12 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (toe) has been ruled out for Week 5 against the Cleveland Browns.

Fantasy Tip: Bilal Powell handled 25 touches against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 4 with Forte sidelined and it would seem he is in line to do so again, albeit against what has been a much better run defense in the Browns. He should be a solid RB2 this week at the very least. Elijah McGuire will once again be expected to change the pace and is worthy of flex consideration.

Jets | Matt Forte sits again

Thu, 05 Oct 2017 11:20:35 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (toe) did not participate in practice Thursday, Oct. 5.

Fantasy Tip: It appears that Forte will miss another game and that Bilal Powell and Elijah McGuire will share time at running back. Both players played well in Week 4 and likely will receive a similar workload against the Cleveland Browns. Powell should be considered a No. 2 running back in all leagues, while McGuire can be a flex option in deeper leagues.

Jets | Matt Forte missing practice Wednesday

Wed, 04 Oct 2017 10:57:38 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (toe) was sidelined at practice Wednesday, Oct. 4.

Fantasy Tip: Although this comes as good news for owners of Bilal Powell and Elijah McGuire, the Cleveland Browns - the Jets' Week 5 opponent - have done a fine job stuffing the run and keeping running backs in check for the most part. As such, Powell should probably be treated as a low-end RB2 and McGuire as a flex should Forte be unable to play this weekend.

Fri, 29 Sep 2017 18:23:14 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee, toe) did not practice Friday, Sept. 29, and has been ruled out for Week 4 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Fantasy Tip: With Forte sidelined, Bilal Powell and Elijah McGuire should both see more action. Jacksonville's defense has been solid to open the year, but Powell is worth starting as a flex option, especially in PPR formats.

Jets | Bilal Powell to shoulder the load?

Thu, 28 Sep 2017 18:43:07 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (toe) said he has "no idea" if he will play against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 4, and Rich Cimini of ESPNNewYork.com expects the Jets to "lean heavily" on RB Bilal Powell if Forte is out.

Fantasy Tip: Elijah McGuire will likely have a role in the offense, but if Forte does sit, Powell would at least be worth using as a flex option in PPR formats.

Jets | Matt Forte remains sidelined

Thu, 28 Sep 2017 14:46:10 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee, toe) did not participate in practice Thursday, Sept. 28.

Fantasy Tip: Forte is not expected to play in Week 4, so Bilal Powell and Elijah McGuire likely will share work at running back against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Powell could be at least a flex option in leagues since he will see a few more touches. Owners probably can avoid McGuire this week.

Jets | Matt Forte unable to practice

Wed, 27 Sep 2017 14:17:18 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) did not practice on Wednesday, Sept. 27.

Fantasy Tip: Forte is a little banged up, but he'll likely still be available to play. He is averaging just about 10 total touches per game so his fantasy appeal is rather limited as a long as Bilal Powell remains healthy.

Jets | Matt Forte likely out

Wed, 27 Sep 2017 07:36:57 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (toe) is considered week to week with a toe injury, and he's likely out for Week 4, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Bilal Powell should be in position to have all of the workload he can handle unless the team falls behind early. Powell is averaging just 2.6 yards per carry and only has five catches for 17 yards. The Jacksonville Jaguars have been decent against the position through the first three weeks, and Powell is a flex consideration.

Mon, 25 Sep 2017 13:09:59 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte's (toe) X-rays were negative on his injured toe, according to head coach Todd Bowles.

Fantasy Tip: The Jets' backfield is a crapshoot right now with Forte, Bilal Powell and Elijah McGuire all sharing playing time. Forte has yet to exceed 10 carries or 100 total yards in a game this year and has not found the end zone yet. He can stay on fantasy benches for the time being.

New York Jets RB Matt Forte ran eight times for 25 yards in a 20-6 win over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, Sept. 24.

Jets | Matt Forte out with injury

Sun, 24 Sep 2017 12:28:40 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (toe) suffered a toe injury in Week 3 and is considered questionable to return.

Fantasy Tip: Forte has been part of a committee at running back this season but entered Week 3 as the team's leading running back. Owners should look for an update on Forte's status in the next day or two but should be able to find better options to use most weeks.

Fri, 22 Sep 2017 13:17:03 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) was removed from the injury report after fully practicing Friday, Sept. 22.

Fantasy Tip: Forte saw an uptick in touches last week but remains part of what will be a weekly headache as a trident backfield -- one that figures to struggle more often than not, mind you. Avoid him in all situations where a clearer path to stable point production is available.
