Jets | Matt Forte totals 82 scrimmage yards

Sun, 22 Oct 2017 18:29:26 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte rushed seven times for 41 yards in Week 7 against the Miami Dolphins while adding five receptions for a team-high 41 yards on five targets.

Fantasy Tip: Forte's toe didn't seem to bother him and he produced his most total scrimmage yardage since Week 2. Still, he hasn't found the end zone in his five games and he remains nothing more than an RB3 or flex fantasy play in leagues of 12 or more teams heading into Week 8 against Atlanta.

Jets | Matt Forte practices in full

Fri, 20 Oct 2017 12:32:59 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee, toe) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 20, and is not on the injury report for Week 7.

Fantasy Tip: Forte is coming off a solid Week 6 performance but probably will lose some touches with Bilal Powell back in the lineup. Forte may still have a role in the passing game this week and could be a flex option in deeper point-per-reception leagues.

Jets | Matt Forte fully practices

Thu, 19 Oct 2017 13:26:09 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee, toe) participated fully in practice Thursday, Oct. 19.

Fantasy Tip: Forte's fantasy value largely depends on Bilal Powell's status and Powell's status looks promising for Week 7. New York's backfield is somewhat of a crapshoot with Powell, Forte and Elijah McGuire, so start them at your own risk. Powell does possess the most upside.

Jets | Matt Forte limited in practice

Wed, 18 Oct 2017 15:09:44 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee, toe) was limited in practice Wednesday, Oct. 18.

Fantasy Tip: Forte rewarded owners who took a chance on him last week in their PPR matchups, catching 8 passes for 59 yards and gaining 22 yards on the ground. Forte's rushing effort left something to be desired, but he'll be a PPR flex candidate again if Bilal Powell misses another week.

Jets | Matt Forte has solid outing

Sun, 15 Oct 2017 14:03:13 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte rushed for 22 yards on nine carries against the New England Patriots in Week 6. He also caught eight passes for 59 yards during the game.

Fantasy Tip: Forte received most of the work at running back this week with Bilal Powell sidelined and could receive a similar role next week. He could be a flex option in leagues next week if he receives a similar workload.

Fri, 13 Oct 2017 15:36:15 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee, toe) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 13, and is not on the injury report for Week 6.

Fantasy Tip: It appears like Forte will be in uniform in Week 6 and likely will share work with Elijah McGuire. He should have a favorable matchup his week against the New England Patriots and could be a flex option in deeper leagues.

Jets | Matt Forte likely to go Week 6

Fri, 13 Oct 2017 10:16:37 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (toe) logged a full practice Friday, Oct. 13, and is expected to return from a two-game absence and play in Week 6 versus the New England Patriots.

Fantasy Tip: Forte was limited in practice Wednesday and Thursday, but he has apparently shown the coaches and trainers enough in practice to get the green light after dealing with turf toe. The fact he has been limited in practice this week suggests Elijah McGuire is the better play in fantasy, although it is entirely possible Forte sees a lot of work as a receiver in garbage if the Patriots race out to an early lead.

Jets | Matt Forte limited Thursday

Thu, 12 Oct 2017 11:15:06 -0700

Jets | Matt Forte listed as limited participant

Wed, 11 Oct 2017 15:09:50 -0700

Updating a previous report, New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee, toe) was listed as a limited participant for practice Wednesday, Oct. 11.

Fantasy Tip: Forte has missed the past two games due to his ailment, but it appears he is progressing and getting closer to a return to game action. If both Forte and Bilal Powell are sidelined look for Elijah McGuire to get the starting nod in Week 6 against the New England Patriots.

Jets | Matt Forte, Bilal Powell unable to practice

Wed, 11 Oct 2017 10:56:49 -0700

New York Jets RBs Matt Forte (toe) and Bilal Powell (calf) did not practice Wednesday, Oct. 11, although Forte did warm up with the team.

Fantasy Tip: Forte has missed each of the last two games but appears much closer to playing than Powell, who was forced from the game early in Week 5. It's too early to say whether or not Forte will play in Week 6 versus the New England Patriots, and it's probably a good bet Elijah McGuire will draw the start even if Forte returns to full practice at some point this week. The case can be made for McGuire as a low-end flex this week, but it is mostly a situation to avoid in fantasy this week.

Jets | Matt Forte ruled out

Fri, 06 Oct 2017 09:59:12 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (toe) has been ruled out for Week 5 against the Cleveland Browns.

Fantasy Tip: Bilal Powell handled 25 touches against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 4 with Forte sidelined and it would seem he is in line to do so again, albeit against what has been a much better run defense in the Browns. He should be a solid RB2 this week at the very least. Elijah McGuire will once again be expected to change the pace and is worthy of flex consideration.

Jets | Matt Forte sits again

Thu, 05 Oct 2017 11:20:35 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (toe) did not participate in practice Thursday, Oct. 5.

Fantasy Tip: It appears that Forte will miss another game and that Bilal Powell and Elijah McGuire will share time at running back. Both players played well in Week 4 and likely will receive a similar workload against the Cleveland Browns. Powell should be considered a No. 2 running back in all leagues, while McGuire can be a flex option in deeper leagues.

Jets | Matt Forte missing practice Wednesday

Wed, 04 Oct 2017 10:57:38 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (toe) was sidelined at practice Wednesday, Oct. 4.

Fantasy Tip: Although this comes as good news for owners of Bilal Powell and Elijah McGuire, the Cleveland Browns - the Jets' Week 5 opponent - have done a fine job stuffing the run and keeping running backs in check for the most part. As such, Powell should probably be treated as a low-end RB2 and McGuire as a flex should Forte be unable to play this weekend.

Jets | Matt Forte won't play

Fri, 29 Sep 2017 18:23:14 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee, toe) did not practice Friday, Sept. 29, and has been ruled out for Week 4 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Fantasy Tip: With Forte sidelined, Bilal Powell and Elijah McGuire should both see more action. Jacksonville's defense has been solid to open the year, but Powell is worth starting as a flex option, especially in PPR formats.

Jets | Bilal Powell to shoulder the load?

Thu, 28 Sep 2017 18:43:07 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (toe) said he has "no idea" if he will play against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 4, and Rich Cimini of ESPNNewYork.com expects the Jets to "lean heavily" on RB Bilal Powell if Forte is out.

Fantasy Tip: Elijah McGuire will likely have a role in the offense, but if Forte does sit, Powell would at least be worth using as a flex option in PPR formats.

Jets | Matt Forte remains sidelined

Thu, 28 Sep 2017 14:46:10 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee, toe) did not participate in practice Thursday, Sept. 28.

Fantasy Tip: Forte is not expected to play in Week 4, so Bilal Powell and Elijah McGuire likely will share work at running back against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Powell could be at least a flex option in leagues since he will see a few more touches. Owners probably can avoid McGuire this week.

Jets | Matt Forte unable to practice

Wed, 27 Sep 2017 14:17:18 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) did not practice on Wednesday, Sept. 27.

Fantasy Tip: Forte is a little banged up, but he'll likely still be available to play. He is averaging just about 10 total touches per game so his fantasy appeal is rather limited as a long as Bilal Powell remains healthy.

Jets | Matt Forte likely out

Wed, 27 Sep 2017 07:36:57 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (toe) is considered week to week with a toe injury, and he's likely out for Week 4, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Bilal Powell should be in position to have all of the workload he can handle unless the team falls behind early. Powell is averaging just 2.6 yards per carry and only has five catches for 17 yards. The Jacksonville Jaguars have been decent against the position through the first three weeks, and Powell is a flex consideration.

Mon, 25 Sep 2017 13:09:59 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte's (toe) X-rays were negative on his injured toe, according to head coach Todd Bowles.

Fantasy Tip: The Jets' backfield is a crapshoot right now with Forte, Bilal Powell and Elijah McGuire all sharing playing time. Forte has yet to exceed 10 carries or 100 total yards in a game this year and has not found the end zone yet. He can stay on fantasy benches for the time being.

Sun, 24 Sep 2017 14:54:21 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte ran eight times for 25 yards in a 20-6 win over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, Sept. 24.

Fantasy Tip: Forte was gone for part of the game due to a toe injury, which depressed his stats. Still, you may want to find other options if Forte continues to struggle in a RB-by-committee setup.

Jets | Matt Forte out with injury

Sun, 24 Sep 2017 12:28:40 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (toe) suffered a toe injury in Week 3 and is considered questionable to return.

Fantasy Tip: Forte has been part of a committee at running back this season but entered Week 3 as the team's leading running back. Owners should look for an update on Forte's status in the next day or two but should be able to find better options to use most weeks.

Jets | Matt Forte removed from injury report

Fri, 22 Sep 2017 13:17:03 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) was removed from the injury report after fully practicing Friday, Sept. 22.

Fantasy Tip: Forte saw an uptick in touches last week but remains part of what will be a weekly headache as a trident backfield -- one that figures to struggle more often than not, mind you. Avoid him in all situations where a clearer path to stable point production is available.

Jets | Full practice for Matt Forte

Thu, 21 Sep 2017 13:14:31 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) fully participated in practice Thursday, Sept. 21.

Fantasy Tip: Forte will be part of a committee at running back this week, but he did receive most of the touches among the backs in Week 2. He will be facing a solid Miami Dolphins defense but could be a flex option in point-per-reception leagues since he could have a role in the passing game.

Jets | NYJ will use three running backs

Thu, 21 Sep 2017 11:16:42 -0700

New York Jets RBs Bilal Powell, Matt Forte and Elijah McGuire will all receive playing time against the Miami Dolphins in Week 3, according to offensive coordinator John Morton.

Fantasy Tip: Powell entered the season as the starting running back, but Forte leads the team in rushing yards with 69 yards. Powell and Forte can still be flex options in point-per-reception leagues because of their pass-catching abilities. Owners can avoid McGuire for the time being.

Jets | Matt Forte full go in practice

Wed, 20 Sep 2017 14:36:32 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) participated fully in practice Wednesday, Sept. 20.

Fantasy Tip: Forte and the Jets' running attack have been nearly non-existent over the season's first two games. We anticipated the Jets falling behind and having to throw a lot this season, though. Forte should remain on fantasy benches for now even when he's healthy.

New York Jets RB Matt Forte finished with nine carries for 53 yards and four catches for 38 yards in a 45-20 loss to the Oakland Raiders in Week 2.

Fantasy Tip: Forte has remained involved as both a runner and receiver so far this year, and if he can stay healthy, he looks like a potential RB3.

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (abdomen, knee) fully participated in practice Friday, Sept. 15, and is not on the injury report for Week 2.

Wed, 13 Sep 2017 17:01:24 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (abdomen, knee) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Sept. 13.

Fantasy Tip: Forte should be ready to play in Week 2 unless he suffers a setback during the week. He was limited to 30 total yards on nine touches and probably will see a similar amount of work this week. Owners should be able to find better options to use in their lineups and can avoid Forte.

Jets | Rushing game limited in Week 1

Sun, 10 Sep 2017 15:55:14 -0700

New York Jets RB Bilal Powell and RB Matt Forte combined for just 38 yards Sunday, Sept. 10, in a 21-12 loss to the Buffalo Bills.

Fantasy Tip: Buffalo was near the bottom with its run defense last year, averaging over 133 yards given up on the ground. The fact the Bills did this to New York is not a good sign for either back. Forte may still be a flex option for deeper leagues, but the Jets' QB issues means the running game may not get the respect.

Jets | Full practice for Matt Forte

Thu, 07 Sep 2017 15:25:45 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) fully participated in practice Thursday, Sept. 7.

Fantasy Tip: Forte should be in uniform in Week 1 against the Buffalo Bills and will share work with Bilal Powell. Forte could be a decent flex option for owners in deeper leagues because he will see a decent amount of touches.

Jets | Full practice for Matt Forte

Thu, 07 Sep 2017 13:00:07 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) participated fully in practice Thursday, Sept. 7.

Fantasy Tip: It will be interesting to see how involved Forte is this week. Bilal Powell is New York's No. 1 running back now, but Forte still has some gas in the tank. There is hesitation in deeming him a flex starter for Week 1, but you can do worse.

Jets | Matt Forte takes part in full practice

Wed, 06 Sep 2017 14:35:20 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) was able to take part in a full practice session on Wednesday, Sept. 6.

Fantasy Tip: That's the good news. The bad news is that Bilal Powell (ribs) was also a full participant, and he is expected to be the bigger contributor in the Gang Green backfield. Forte has devolved into an RB3 or flex option in most fantasy formats after years being a first-round selection in Chicago.

Jets | Matt Forte does not expect trade

Thu, 31 Aug 2017 19:51:44 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte said general manager Mike Maccagnan has assured him that he will not be traded.

Fantasy Tip: Forte will share playing time with Bilal Powell if he stays with the Jets but should see a decent amount of touches each game. Owners could consider him a No. 3 running back or a flex option in most leagues.

Jets | Matt Forte on the bubble?

Thu, 31 Aug 2017 14:44:36 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte is believed to be on the final roster bubble, in the opinion of ESPNNewYork.com's Rich Cimini. Cimini cites Forte's age and the presence of RB Bilal Powell and rookie RB Elijah McGuire as the main reasons for Forte's potential departure.

Fantasy Tip: It was recently reported that Forte was being shopped, so the fact that he may be cut shouldn't come as a huge surprise. This is Powell's backfield and McGuire has already shown he can be a promising backup. For now, view Forte as no more than a flex. He could still be picked up by another team if released.

Jets | Matt Forte on the block?

Tue, 29 Aug 2017 10:10:44 -0700

The New York Jets have reportedly "gauged" the trade market for RB Matt Forte, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: It's not a surprise considering the fire sale the Jets have been running the better part of the offseason, and partially explains why he saw so much time ahead of Bilal Powell in the team's dress rehearsal game last weekend against the New York Giants. Moving him will be difficult considering is $4 million guaranteed salary, so it is more likely he'll be spending the season working in tandem with Powell. He's a low-end, low-upside RB4 at best at the moment.

Jets | Matt Forte carries 10 times

Sat, 26 Aug 2017 19:47:41 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte carried a team-high 10 times for 43 yards and caught two passes for one yard in a 32-31 preseason loss to the New York Giants Saturday, Aug. 26.

Fantasy Tip: Bilal Powell is going to eat into his workload, especially on passing downs, but don't write off Forte completely. He is currently healthy and could see a lot of work on early downs. Forte could be a solid value as a RB4.

Wed, 23 Aug 2017 15:38:38 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (hamstring) said he hopes to play in the preseason game against the New York Giants Saturday, Aug. 26, but is not sure if he will be allowed to play. Forte is confident that he will be ready for Week 1.

Fantasy Tip: Forte would see limited touches if he plays against the Giants and should be on the field for Week 1 unless he suffers a setback. He may not be the starter but should see a solid amount of touches this season. Owners can consider Forte a No. 3 running back or flex option.

Jets | Matt Forte works with team Tuesday

Tue, 22 Aug 2017 12:29:41 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (hamstring) participated in team drills Tuesday, Aug. 22.

Fantasy Tip: Forte has been battling a nagging hamstring ailment for a few weeks now. It's not a good start to the season, but he could still be ready for the opener. That being said, Bilal Powell is the back to own on the Jets as an RB2 candidate. Forte merely has flex appeal.

Mon, 21 Aug 2017 12:22:13 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (hamstring) is not guaranteed to be healthy enough to play by Week 1, according to head coach Todd Bowles.

Fantasy Tip: Forte is starting this season off on the wrong foot. He will have handed the backfield baton off to Bilal Powell even if healthy, but the longer Forte remains absent, the better for Powell. Powell is a legitimate PPR RB2 with Forte more suitable as a flex.

Jets | Matt Forte won't play Saturday

Thu, 17 Aug 2017 12:03:08 -0700

New York Jets WRB Matt Forte (hamstring) will not practice Thursday, Aug. 17, and will not be playing in the Jets' second preseason game Saturday, Aug. 19.

Fantasy Tip: The nagging hamstring injury is becoming somewhat of a concern for the 31-year-old running back. It doesn't seem to be serious enough for him to miss regular season time, but it should be monitored. Bilal Powell is the running back to own on the Jets anyway. Forte is no more than a flex consideration at this point in his career.
