Jets | Full practice for Matt Forte

Thu, 08 Dec 2016 15:16:50 -0800

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee, foot) participated fully in practice Thursday, Dec. 8.

Fantasy Tip: Forte may have the best matchup of any running back this week against the San Francisco 49ers, although, the 49ers may focus on him defensively with Bryce Petty at quarterback. Even so, Forte is a low-end RB1 to high-end RB2 option.

Jets | Matt Forte listed as limited

Wed, 07 Dec 2016 15:00:43 -0800

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (foot, knee) was limited during practice Wednesday, Dec. 7.

Fantasy Tip: Forte probably will receive a bigger role on offense with Bryce Petty as the starting quarterback. He had been held to 52 yards and zero touchdowns over the last two games and probably will see more defenders in the box moving forward. He should be considered a No. 2 running back or a flex option in leagues.

Jets | Matt Forte doesn't do much

Mon, 05 Dec 2016 21:40:10 -0800

New York Jets RB Matt Forte rushed nine times for just 25 yards in the Week 13 game against the Indianapolis Colts Monday, Dec. 5, and he managed three catches for 54 yards on four targets.

Fantasy Tip: The Jets got away from the run in a blowout loss, but Forte did salvage the stat line with one 40-yard reception. It wasn't a huge stat line, but likely just enough for some fantasy owners. He'll look to rebound in Week 14 against the San Francisco 49ers, the league's worst rushing defense.

Fri, 25 Nov 2016 14:08:26 -0800

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) fully participated in practice Friday, Nov. 25, and is not on the injury report for Week 12.

Fantasy Tip: Forte has posted great numbers over the last month and should continue to be a big part of the offense. He will be facing a solid New England Patriots defense but should still be seen as a No. 1 or No. 2 running back in all fantasy leagues.

Jets | Matt Forte full go

Thu, 24 Nov 2016 14:42:32 -0800

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) put in a full practice Thursday, Nov. 24.

Fantasy Tip: Forte is an every-week fantasy starter as long as he's healthy. Despite big workloads throughout his career, he's turned in a quality season in his first year with the Jets. Forte has RB1 upside but is safer as an RB2 this week against the New England Patriots.

New York Jets RB Matt Forte ran 20 times for 98 yards and hauled in two passes for 11 yards against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 10.

Jets | Matt Forte is ready to roll in Week 10

Fri, 11 Nov 2016 14:49:53 -0800

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) was listed as a full participant in practice Friday, Nov. 11, and he is expected to start in Week 10 against the Los Angeles Rams.

Fantasy Tip: The good news is that Forte is healthy. The bad news is he faces the league's 11th-ranked rush defense, as the Rams give up just 98.6 yards per game with six touchdowns through eight games. It's a tough matchup, but Forte remains an RB2 in all fantasy leagues.

Jets | Matt Forte has full practice

Thu, 10 Nov 2016 15:35:03 -0800

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) was a full participant in practice Thursday, Nov. 10.

Fantasy Tip: Forte has found the endzone five times in the Jets' last three outings, including once through the air. His matchup is tougher than average versus the Los Angeles Rams, but Forte's volume and knack for scoring this year automatically make him an RB1 option.

Wed, 02 Nov 2016 15:19:46 -0700

Fantasy Tip: Forte has had a re-awakening the last two weeks, scoring three times to go with 182 rushing yards. His knee will need to be monitored before making any lineup decisions, but he should be able to play as long as he's practicing. View him as a low-end RB1 for Week 9.

He has back-to-back games with two total touchdowns, and he now has seven scores in the past seven games. He remains a solid fantasy option in all leagues heading into Week 9 game against the Miami Dolphins.

Jets | Two key Jets players upgraded to full

Fri, 28 Oct 2016 13:04:57 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) and WR Brandon Marshall (foot) each practiced in full Friday, Oct. 28. Forte did not participate in practice the previous day, though he did manage to get in a limited session Wednesday, Oct. 26. Marshall sat out the first practice of the week before practicing on a limited basis Thursday, Oct. 27.

Fantasy Tip: This should take away any concern and put them both on track to play in Sunday's favorable matchup with the Cleveland Browns. Forte logged his first 100-yard rushing effort since Week 2 last weekend, while also adding a receiving touchdown, so he'll be entering this affair with a lot of momentum. Meanwhile, Marshall put up an undesirable line in that game, but with Ryan Fitzpatrick back under center for the Jets, the 32-year-old should be able to sustain his WR1 value. Marshall caught a career-high 14 touchdown passes last season from Fitz, remember.

Jets | No practice for Matt Forte

Thu, 27 Oct 2016 14:59:36 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) did not practice Thursday, Oct. 27.

Fantasy Tip: It's certainly discouraging that Forte went from being limited yesterday to not practicing today. If he misses practice again tomorrow then there is cause for real concern. If he does play he has one of the better matchups of the week against a Cleveland Browns defense that is surrendering over 100 yards and one touchdown per game to running backs.

Jets | Matt Forte in line for bounce back

Wed, 26 Oct 2016 21:32:38 -0700

In Week 8, New York Jets RB Matt Forte will face a Cleveland Browns rush defense that ranks 31st in the NFL. The Browns have allowed 139.9 yards per game with seven rushing touchdowns. The Browns are also 29th in the league in pass defense, giving up 285.7 yards per game with 18 touchdowns.

Fantasy Tip: Forte could be ready for his biggest performance since finding the end zone three times against the Buffalo Bills in mid-September. He is a must-start in all fantasy formats this weekend despite some shaky games recently.

Jets | Another full practice for Matt Forte

Fri, 21 Oct 2016 12:22:31 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) was able to get in another full practice for the second straight day Friday, Oct. 21.

Fantasy Tip: This basically ensures he'll be able to suit up on Sunday. However, with the Jets offense currently being a mess, and now leaning on Geno Smith at quarterback, owners can't expect Forte to provide his usual production, especially against a stingy Ravens defense. He'll be a low-ceiling RB2 option.

Jets | Matt Forte practices in full

Thu, 20 Oct 2016 12:37:47 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) fully participated in practice Thursday, Oct. 20.

Fantasy Tip: Forte should continue to be the starting running back but has been losing snaps to Bilal Powell. Forte has rushed for less than 30 yards in two of the last three games and should only be considered as a flex option at this point.

Jets | Matt Forte a limited participant

Wed, 19 Oct 2016 14:57:01 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) was limited in practice Wednesday, Oct. 19.

Fantasy Tip: Forte has really disappointed the last few weeks after a hot start to the season. Bilal Powell's usage has increased while Forte may be showing the impact of heavy workloads throughout his career. Even if he's healthy, the Baltimore Ravens have been stellar against the run this year. Forte can't be considered as more than a low-end RB2 to high-end RB3.

Jets | Matt Forte doesn't play the bulk

Tue, 18 Oct 2016 07:27:45 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte played 21 snaps in Week 6 for 39 percent of the offense.

Fantasy Tip: He's averaging a career-low 3.5 yards per carry and has just 14 catches for 93 yards in six games. That three-touchdown performance looks like an aberration, and he's trending toward the RB3 area.

Jets | Matt Forte does next to nothing

Mon, 17 Oct 2016 21:24:32 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte rushed nine times for just 19 yards in the Week 6 game against the Arizona Cardinals Monday, Oct. 17, and he posted just one catch for three yards on three targets.

Fantasy Tip: Forte exploded for 100 rushing yards and three touchdowns back in Week 2, but it's been all downhill since then. He has 64 total yards from scrimmage or less in each of his past four games, and he hasn't visited the end zone since Buffalo. He is still worth using as a RB2 in all fantasy leagues heading into Week 7 against Baltimore, but he needs to get untracked in a hurry.

Sat, 15 Oct 2016 14:13:45 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) fully participated in practice Saturday, Oct. 15, and is not on the injury report for Week 6.

Jets | Matt Forte full go Thursday

Thu, 13 Oct 2016 15:24:09 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) put in a full practice Thursday, Oct. 13.

Fantasy Tip: Forte has lost some touches to counterpart Bilal Powell in recent weeks, but he's still the Jets' main back. That being said, the Arizona Cardinals are fierce foe. Forte falls into the low-end RB2 category for Week 6.

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee, ribs) participated fully in practice Thursday, Oct. 6.

Fantasy Tip: Some of Forte's touches have been siphoned by Bilal Powell in recent weeks, but he's still a viable option this week. The Pittsburgh Steelers have allowed the most passing yards to running backs this season (318) and five total touchdowns. Forte is a low-end RB1 to high-end RB2.

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (ribs, knee) said he underwent X-rays on his ribs after the team's Week 4 game and they came back negative.

Fantasy Tip: Forte suffered the injured ribs in the last game but likely will be able to play against the Pittsburgh Steelers this week. Forte will be facing one of the better run defenses in the NFL but should still be a solid No. 2 running back in leagues.

New York Jets RB Matt Forte rushed 14 times for 27 yards in the Week 4 game against the Seattle Seahawks and he added two receptions for 16 yards on three targets.

Fantasy Tip: Forte has been rather ordinary since his three-touchdown explosion in Week 2 on Thursday night against Buffalo. He remains a low-end RB1 in most fantasy leagues for his potential for a big game, but he has done very little over the past two outings.

Wed, 28 Sep 2016 16:27:00 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) was limited during practice Wednesday, Sept. 28.

Jets | Matt Forte crashes back to Earth

Sun, 25 Sep 2016 21:01:30 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte rushed 15 times for 65 yards in the Week 3 game against the Kansas City Chiefs, and he had two grabs for minus-1 yard. However, he was held out of the end zone after piling up three scores last week.

Fantasy Tip: The New York offense struggled, posting just three points, so Forte's overall stat line isn't terrible, all things considered. He remains a low-end RB1 in all fantasy leagues, especially PPR formats.

Jets | Matt Forte's early workload not a concern

Sat, 24 Sep 2016 09:32:23 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte is on pace for 472 touches this season, but head coach Todd Bowles is not among those worried about his 30-year-old holding up for the entire season. "I don't worry about who plays a lot and who doesn't play a lot. Whoever's got the hot hand plays. If we can ride somebody, we'll ride him, whether it be a receiver, quarterback or running back. It really doesn't matter," Bowles said.

Fantasy Tip: The Jets played last Thursday, affording Forte a few more days of rest than he would typically have following a 30-carry effort in Week 2. It should go without saying that Forte will not continue logging carries at this pace, but his contributions in the passing game should keep him in the RB1 discussion anyway. His owners should use this time to buy low on his handcuff, Bilal Powell.

Jets | Matt Forte practices in full Thursday

Thu, 22 Sep 2016 15:43:03 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) practiced in full Thursday, September 22.

Fantasy Tip: This is an upgrade over his showing on Wednesday, when he was just a limited participant. Owners have to be pleased with his usage in the Jets offense thus far, as he's received 52 carries, as well as seven receptions in the passing game, en route to scoring three touchdowns and registering 264 total yards. With his status looking positive for Sunday, Forte should continue to be a RB1 option.

Thu, 22 Sep 2016 10:21:23 -0700

New York Jets offensive coordinator Chan Gailey said it is too early in the season for the team to start monitoring RB Matt Forte's touches.

Fantasy Tip: Forte has rushed the ball 52 times in the first two games and has caught seven passes during that span. He will continue to receive a majority of the work at running back and is a must-start option for owners.

Jets | Matt Forte limited in practice

Wed, 21 Sep 2016 12:27:38 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) was limited in practice Wednesday, Sept. 21, but there is no concern about his availability for the Week 3 game against the Kansas City Chiefs Sunday, Sept. 25.

Fantasy Tip: Forte has handled 52 of 57 rushing attempts out of the backfield through the first two games, and he's coming off a three-touchdown showing in Week 2 against the Buffalo Bills. However, with 2,087 career carries, the 31-year-old back will need to share the workload more going forward, or he'll risk breaking down. Forte is a potential sell-high candidate if you have the luxury of a deep running back corps.

Jets | Matt Forte still thriving

Tue, 20 Sep 2016 17:20:07 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte has shown no sign of old age or wear and tear yet in 2016. He is third in the NFL in rush attempts (52), second in rushing yards (196) and tied for first in rushing touchdowns (3). It was suspected that RB Bilal Powell would take away a good chunk of Forte's touches this season, but that has not been close to the case so far.

Fantasy Tip: Forte is a weekly RB1 in standard and PPR formats at this point. As for Powell, don't give up on him just yet, especially if you own both Forte and Powell. If anything were to happen to Forte then Powell would be the heir apparent in New York's backfield. Plus, the Jets may start considering that they're using Forte too much.

Sat, 17 Sep 2016 18:05:31 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte had 32 touches in Week 2 against the Buffalo Bills, and he is currently on pace for 472 touches this season.

Fantasy Tip: Forte isn't going to maintain his current usage rate, but it's clear the Jets want to have him heavily involved in the offense. He should be a strong RB2 in all formats as long as he is healthy.

New York Jets RB Matt Forte finished with 30 carries 100 yards and three touchdowns and two catches for nine yards in a 37-31 win over the Buffalo Bills Thursday, Sept. 15.
