The team would prefer to work out a long-term deal with the running back. Forte has hinted of holding out if the franchise tag is placed on him.

"I wouldn't say holdout, but people probably wouldn't know where I was," said Forte, who admitted there's a "pretty good chance" he'll be franchised. Forte added if he receives the franchise tag, it will hopefully be a sign that the Bears want to negotiate a long-term deal.

I'll probably have a physical next week heading into the Pro Bowl, so I'll be out there and I should be good to go."

Forte missed the final four regular season games, but wants to play in the Pro Bowl. He isn't worried about being injured in the Pro Bowl. "The risk because of injury? I mean, I could get injured walking out the door," Forte said. "The Pro Bowl, this is my first time making it, I want to go out there and be on the field. You can't worry about injuries all the time."
