Bears | Matt Forte sits

Wed, 08 Oct 2014 11:48:56 -0700

Chicago Bears RB Matt Forte did not participate in practice Wednesday, Oct. 8, due to a coaches decision.

Fantasy Tip: This is probably nothing more than a day off for rest, but check back on Thursday to make sure Forte is back on the practice field before committing to him in FantasyScore.

Bears | Offensive line hurts Matt Forte

Mon, 06 Oct 2014 19:49:09 -0700

Chicago Bears RB Matt Forte averaged 3.6 yards per carry on 17 carries in Week 5, and head coach Marc Trestman said missed assignments and poor technique on the part of the offensive line led to Forte's inefficiency.

Fantasy Tip: While poor offensive line play is never good news for a running back's value, Forte did show his versatility in the game by catching 12 passes, including a touchdown, and finishing with 167 total yards. His ability to contribute in multiple ways makes him one of the safer plays at the position. With a juicy matchup against a terrible Atlanta defense on tap in Week 6, Forte could make a nice piece to build a lineup around at FantasyScore.

Bears | Big games ahead for Matt Forte?

Sat, 04 Oct 2014 20:06:41 -0700

Chicago Bears RB Matt Forte managed just 136 rushing yards through the first three games of the season, but those three games came against teams with the league's top three run defenses heading into Week 5.

Fantasy Tip: Forte looked back up to speed in Week 4 against the Packers so there is every reason to believe his slow start was a result of the competition and not the result of any type of decline on his part. He will take up 15.2% of the cap ($7,600) at FantasyScore in Week 5, and he could make a solid top back as the Bears face a Carolina defense that currently ranks 27th against the run.

Bears | Matt Forte finally shows up

Sun, 28 Sep 2014 17:30:41 -0700

Chicago Bears RB Matt Forte carried 23 times for a season-high 122 yards and no touchdowns in the Week 4 game against the Green Bay Packers, and he added 49 yards on five receptions. Forte went over 10,000 career total yards from scrimmage in the loss.

Fantasy Tip: Forte still failed to find the end zone, but the 100-yard rushing game was his first of the season, and his 49 receiving yards were the most since Week 1. He has managed at least five receptions in each of his four games. He remains a must-start in all fantasy leagues despite his slow start and lack of scores.

Bears | Matt Forte still a receiving threat

Sat, 27 Sep 2014 12:53:28 -0700

Chicago Bears RB Matt Forte recently voiced his displeasure with the Bears' running game. Though Forte has struggled running the ball this year, he still leads all running backs in receptions (19) and is third among running backs in receiving yards (145).

Fantasy Tip: Forte has still provided consistency in the passing game despite his lack of production in the running game. He'll look for a bounce-back outing against a Green Bay Packers defense that has allowed five total touchdowns to running backs through three games.

Bears | Matt Forte headed for big week?

Fri, 26 Sep 2014 18:04:49 -0700

Chicago Bears RB Matt Forte has struggled this season, posting just 136 rushing yards on 42 carries through three games, for a career-worst 3.2 yards per carry, and he has yet to visit the end zone on the ground or through the air. However, that could change in Week 4 against the Green Bay Packers, a team which ranks 30th in the NFL against the rush, allowing 156.3 yards per game. In two games against the Packers last season, Forte had at least 110 rushing yards in each game, and he averaged 5.1 yards per carry while posting 235 rushing yards and three touchdowns while also hauling in a touchdown reception.

Fantasy Tip: Forte's weekly fantasy owners have to be losing patience, and hope this is the week. FantasyScore owners might want to take a leap of faith at $8300 (or 16.6 percent of the salary cap) on Forte this weekend given the favorable matchup.

Bears | Matt Forte frustrated with ground game

Fri, 26 Sep 2014 09:17:34 -0700

Chicago Bears RB Matt Forte is frustrated his performance early this season. He currently has a 3.2 yards per carry average and has 54 rushing yards on 25 carries in the last two weeks. "It is frustrating, especially during the game because it's not because we are not calling runs," Forte said. "We are calling runs."

Fantasy Tip: To be fair, the Bears' offensive line isn't at top strength, and Chicago has faced some formidable run-stopping defensive fronts in the last two weeks. Against the Green Bay Packers this week, Forte should have much more real estate to work with on the ground. He's a smart buy at FantasyScore for $8,300 (16.6% of cap).

Bears | Matt Forte OK with workhorse role

Wed, 29 Jan 2014 12:55:34 -0800

Chicago Bears RB Matt Forte is OK with the workhorse role and said that is what he expects. "That's what I expect," Forte said. "It wasn't like I was worn out at the end of the season or anything. I only averaged 18 or 19 catches a game but with the catches you get more touches that way."
