The Washington Redskins have several tight ends on the roster, including TEs Chris Cooley, Fred Davis, Logan Paulsen and Richard Quinn. In addition, WR Niles Paul has begun the transition from receiver to tight end. Paul has gained 10 pounds since last season ended, according to head coach Mike Shanahan.

Washington Redskins general manager Bruce Allen said Saturday, March 10, that the team would like to get a long-term deal done with TE Fred Davis at some point. The team used the franchise tag on Davis to keep him from hitting the open market. "We franchised Fred because he was our most valuable free agent we couldn't get a deal done with," Allen said.
