Thu, 06 Jun 2013 11:48:39 -0700 Washington Redskins TE Fred Davis (Achilles') will not participate in the team's mandatory minicamp as a precaution. "He might be able to go next week, but I'm going to keep him away even if he wants to go," Shanahan said. "I like what I see on a day-to-day basis. You can see the explosion. I just don't want him to push against anybody right now. I just don't want to take that chance when he has an extra month-and-a-half recovery time. And so we won't push it. But if we were playing next week, I think he might be able to go." Fantasy Tip: This sounds like more of a precaution than anything else, and Davis should be good to go for training camp, assuming there are no setbacks. If Davis can stay healthy, he should be a solid No. 2 fantasy tight end in 2013, if not better.
Thu, 30 May 2013 14:38:51 -0700 Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III (knee) has begun throwing, planting his feet, and taking seven-step drops. Griffin threw to WR Pierre Garcon, TE Fred Davis and RB Roy Helu. "Those are guys we'll lean heavily on in the season," Griffin said. "I'll build chemistry with them and get a feel for how Jordan and Chris play and continue to work with Fred and get back with Pierre. He's the guy… I want to make sure me and him are on the same page. He's a big-play receiver who can do a lot of things. It's good to see him back healthy and doing a lot of stuff." Fantasy Tip: The good news continues to roll in for Griffin as he continues to work his way back from the knee issue. While there is still a long way to go, the real test will come as training camp and preseason games approach. Continue to monitor his statues, but fantasy football players should be
Fri, 24 May 2013 11:10:41 -0700 Washington Redskins TE Fred Davis (Achilles') said he hopes to be able to participate in the team's mandatory minicamp in June. He said he definitely will be ready for training camp if he does not take part in the minicamp. Davis has been taking part in individual drills as well as running routes and catching passes on a side field during organized team activities.
Thu, 23 May 2013 18:39:20 -0700 Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan said TE Fred Davis (Achilles') is about 90 percent recovered from his Achilles' tendon injury and that he expects Davis to sit out until training camp. Fantasy Tip: It sounds like Davis will be ready for the start of training camp. If he can show that he is recovered from his injury, he should be seen as a No. 2 fantasy tight end that has upside.

Fri, 29 Mar 2013 05:48:09 -0700 The Washington Redskins have re-signed free-agent TE Fred Davis to a one-year deal. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Fantasy Tip: By only signing a one-year deal, Davis will look to have a big 2013 campaign and cash in next offseason. Davis is ahead of schedule in his recovery from a torn Achilles' tendon and should be ready for training camp. Consider him a solid No. 2 option with upside. He should be a primary target in the Redskins' passing game.
