The Associated Press reports Washington Redskins head coach Jim Zorn insisted QB Andre' Woodson was not only signed for this week so that he can help reveal information about the New York Giants, Washington's Week 1 opponent. "Oh, yeah. Yeah," Zorn said. "And that's something that I would be frustrated with, too, and I do understand that, that it makes it look like we're jumping on that, but that wasn't the major issue with the find." Zorn said the Redskins scouted Woodson coming out of college and decided to take a chance on him after the Giants released him.

The Associated Press reports New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin said it was obvious the Washington Redskins signed QB Andre' Woodson to their practice squad in order to gain information on the Giants' playbook. Woodson was recently released by the Giants. "I have been a part of it," Coughlin said Monday, Sept. 7. "I have seen it done. A guy doesn't get in the door two seconds, and he is in a classroom being grilled."

The Associated Press reports New York Giants QB Andre' Woodson and QB Rhett Bomar, both competing for the No. 3 quarterback job, each struggled during the team's final preseason game Thursday, Sept. 3. Woodson finished the game 6-for-19 for 98 yards with an interception while Bomar was 2-for-7 for 40 yards with an interception.

Mike Garafolo, of The Star-Ledger, reports New York Giants general manager Jerry Reese defended the pick of QB Rhett Bomar in the NFL Draft by saying Bomar or QB Andre' Woodson could serve as an insurance policy for a potential departure of QB David Carr down the road. "We drafted Woodson last year. We still like Woodson," Reese said before he could even be asked about what Bomar's arrival means for Woodson. "I know people will start to write him off right away, but that's not true. Who knows how long David Carr will be here?" Head coach Tom Coughlin added Bomar represented good value for the team. "The scouts had very good grades on Bomar," Coughlin said. "There were a lot of people in the room who, when Bomar was picked, stood up and talked about the value of that individual at that time."

Mark Story, of the Lexington Herald-Leader, reports the New York Giants coach have changed QB Andre' Woodson's throwing motion he had during his college career. "In my old motion, my elbow would come up first, then the football would come up," Woodson said. "They got rid of the elbow coming up; now I just bring the football up. It's just a much faster motion getting rid of the ball."

He ran the 40-yard dash in 4.86 seconds and 4.88 seconds, the short shuttle in 4.33 seconds and the three-cone drill in 7.28 seconds. He measured a 27 1/2-inch vertical jump and a 9-foot-1 broad jump.
