Raiders | Jordy Nelson, Oakland agree to terms

Thu, 15 Mar 2018 13:08:26 -0700

Free-agent WR Jordy Nelson (Raiders) agreed to terms on a two-year deal with the Oakland Raiders Thursday, March 15, worth $15 million. The deal includes $13 million in guaranteed money.

Fantasy Tip: Nelson should be one of the starting receivers for the Raiders in 2018 after they released Michael Crabtree. He is coming off a disappointing 2017 season but should still be a reliable fantasy receiver. Owners in most leagues should consider Nelson as a No. 2 or No. 3 receiver.

Raiders | Jordy Nelson not a sure thing for Raiders

Thu, 15 Mar 2018 11:20:34 -0700

Free-agent WR Jordy Nelson (Packers) is not a done deal for the Oakland Raiders. The New Orleans Saints are pushing hard for Nelson and the Seattle Seahawks also remain interested.

Fantasy Tip: Nelson is now one of the most popular names in free agency and is obviously in high demand. He has a lost a step or two with injury and age, but his size and speed make him a valuable asset in any offense. He'll be a solid fit in any of those offenses and can be drafted as a WR3 if he's healthy.

Raiders | Jordy Nelson wanted by Oakland

Thu, 15 Mar 2018 08:47:50 -0700

Free-agent WR Jordy Nelson (Packers) is being sought to sign by the Oakland Raiders after a positive visit. The team would release WR Michael Crabtree if a deal is done.

Fantasy Tip: Nelson doesn't have the WR1 clout anymore, but he can be a good WR2 in PPR formats.

Wed, 14 Mar 2018 09:27:05 -0700

Raiders | Jordy Nelson to visit Oakland

Tue, 13 Mar 2018 18:52:20 -0700

Updating a previous report, free-agent WR Jordy Nelson (Packers) will visit the Oakland Raiders on Wednesday, March 14, a source said.

Fantasy Tip: The Raiders already have Michael Crabtree and Amari Cooper, but Nelson would be a nice complementary receiver. He is no longer a No. 1 receiver at this juncture of his career, but he still could be a useful player. If he were to join Oakland, they would have quite the potent passing offense.

Patriots | Jordy Nelson eyeing New England?

Tue, 13 Mar 2018 18:51:23 -0700

Free-agent WR Jordy Nelson (Packers) was aware the Green Bay Packers intended to release him Tuesday, March 13, and has already targeted the New England Patriots as his next team, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Nelson is coming off a poor 2017 and will turn 33 in late May, but New England would be an interesting fit. It's hard to imagine he would be willing to be a fourth receiver for the Patriots and would likely push Chris Hogan for a starting job while also offering the team insurance against another Julian Edelman injury. His days of being a fantasy WR1 are probably over, but New England would give him a shot at WR3 value if he wins a starting job.

Tue, 13 Mar 2018 15:02:19 -0700

Free-agent WR Jordy Nelson (Packers) plans to continue his playing career after being released by the Green Bay Packers, according to a source.

Packers | Jordy Nelson cut

Tue, 13 Mar 2018 13:29:43 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson was released Tuesday, March 13, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Nelson is coming off a disappointing 2017 season when he posted only 482 receiving yards but did have six touchdowns. Nelson appears to be slowing down at bit but should receive interest from multiple teams this offseason. He could be a No. 3 receiver in fantasy leagues depending on his new team.

Packers | Jordy Nelson still in plans of team

Wed, 28 Feb 2018 16:43:21 -0800

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson remains in the team's plans, and both head coach Mike McCarthy and general manager Brian Gutekunst didn't appears to be making plans to cut him after a down season. The duo stressed it is important to examine all factors in Nelson's diminished output.

Fantasy Tip: Nelson had a down season, but he didn't really jell well with backup Brett Hundley while Davante Adams and Randall Cobb fared better. The return of Aaron Rodgers will give Nelson his starting quarterback, and the team will then be able to evaluate him during offseason workouts to determine his future better. It appears he'll be in Green Bay in 2018, at least for now, but it's clear his days as a No. 1 fantasy option are in the rear-view mirror.

Packers | Jordy Nelson's future uncertain?

Sat, 30 Dec 2017 19:00:59 -0800

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson could be in danger of having to take a pay cut or being released this offseason, according to Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com.

Fantasy Tip: The Packers have a lot of money tied up in the receiver position following Davante Adams' new deal, and Nelson is 32. As productive as he has been in recent years, his value would plummet if he is separated from Aaron Rodgers.

Fri, 29 Dec 2017 15:06:46 -0800

Green Bay Packers WR Davante Adams (concussion), OG Jahri Evans (knee), RB Aaron Jones (knee), WR Jordy Nelson (shoulder), LB Nick Perry (ankle, shoulder) and TE Richard Rodgers (shoulder) did not participate in practice Friday, Dec. 29, and have been ruled out for Week 17. OT Ulrick John (back) missed practice and is listed as questionable. WR Geronimo Allison (illness), LB Clay Matthews (hamstring) and CB Damarious Randall (knee) were limited during practice and are listed as questionable. LB Ahmad Brooks (back, shoulder), DT Mike Daniels (shoulder), DT Quinton Dial (knee) and CB Davon House (back, shoulder) were limited during practice but are not on the injury report. Packers | Green Bay rules out key playmakers

Fri, 29 Dec 2017 09:19:09 -0800

Green Bay Packers WRs Davante Adams (concussion) and Jordy Nelson (shoulder) as well as RB Aaron Jones (knee) and TE Richard Rodgers (shoulder) have all been ruled out for Week 17 versus the Detroit Lions.

Fantasy Tip: None of these absences are all that unexpected. Randall Cobb, Geronimo Allison and Michael Clark figure to see a heavy dose of the targets at receiver, while Jamaal Williams should see the majority of touches out of the backfield. Lance Kendricks should hog the snaps at tight end. Outside of Williams and maybe Cobb, it will be hard to trust any of the others in fantasy in Week 17.

Packers | Jordy Nelson, Davante Adams both held out

Thu, 28 Dec 2017 11:24:08 -0800

Green Bay Packers WRs Jordy Nelson (shoulder) and Davante Adams (concussion) were sidelined during practice Thursday, Dec. 28.

Fantasy Tip: It would be a surprise to see either Nelson or Adams play in the Packers' final game of the season. As far as next year is concerned, Nelson is lined up to be a nice value pick in fantasy drafts assuming he and Aaron Rodgers are both healthy. Adams, meanwhile, possesses low-end WR1to high-end WR2 potential.

Packers | Jordy Nelson unlikely to play Week 17

Wed, 27 Dec 2017 10:27:15 -0800

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson (shoulder) will not practice Wednesday, Dec. 27, and head coach Mike McCarthy admitted it will be "tough" for Nelson to play in Week 17 against the Detroit Lions.

Fantasy Tip: Nelson's season went into the tank at the same time Aaron Rodgers was injured in Week 6, as backup quarterback Brett Hundley only seemed to have eyes for Davante Adams. It seems likely Nelson's stock will take a big hit in fantasy drafts next summer as owners will likely shy away from him due to his dismal second half and age (he will turn 33 in May). Nevertheless, few receivers in recent memory have shown a better knack for the end zone than Nelson when he gets to play with Rodgers.

Packers | Jordy Nelson still being evaluated

Mon, 25 Dec 2017 19:42:24 -0800

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson (shoulder) suffered a shoulder injury in the Week 16 game against the Minnesota Vikings, and head coach Mike McCarthy said Monday, Dec. 25, that the receiver is still being evaluated.

Fantasy Tip: Nelson has had a disappointing season, and he hasn't jelled very well with Brett Hundley when the two have worked together. Even if he can play he should be treated more as a WR4 or flex fantasy option as he finishes up a mediocre campaign.

Packers | Jordy Nelson ruled out

Sat, 23 Dec 2017 19:24:26 -0800

Updating a previous report, Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson (arm) won't return against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 16 after suffering an arm injury.

Fantasy Tip: Feel free to keep an eye on Nelson's status for the season finale, but given his complete lack of production with Brett Hundley under center, you shouldn't plan on using him in any fantasy format.

Packers | Jordy Nelson injures arm

Sat, 23 Dec 2017 19:03:53 -0800

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson (arm) suffered a left arm injury while attempting a diving catch against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 16.

Fantasy Tip: Nelson has been useless when Brett Hundley has been the quarterback, so even if he is able to return, he won't be helping fantasy owners until next season anyway.

Packers | Jordy Nelson continues to struggle

Sun, 17 Dec 2017 15:31:07 -0800

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson finished with three receptions and 28 yards on six targets in Week 15 against the Carolina Panthers.

Fantasy Tip: Nelson had Aaron Rodgers (collarbone) back under center and Davante Adams (concussion) left early due to injury, but he was still missing in action. Nelson's disappearance has been a huge disappointment for fantasy owners, and he faces a tough matchup in Week 16 against the visiting Vikings on Saturday.

Packers | Jordy Nelson struggles again

Sun, 10 Dec 2017 16:33:29 -0800

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson posted four receptions for just 33 yards on five targets in Week 14 against the Cleveland Browns.

Fantasy Tip: Nelson has struggled to get on the same page with Brett Hundley, as Davante Adams has blown past him for the No. 1 receiver job. The good news for Nelson and his nervous fantasy owners is that an Aaron Rodgers return is just around the corner. Still, Nelson can't be trusted as anything more than a WR3 or flex option right now.

Packers | Jordy Nelson limited to 17 yards

Sun, 03 Dec 2017 16:13:39 -0800

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson posted five receptions for just 17 yards on eight targets in Week 13 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Fantasy Tip: Nelson and Brett Hundley have had zero rapport together, so fantasy owners have to be counting down the days until Aaron Rodgers (collarbone) is able to return. Hundley did try to get it to Nelson more than any other receiver, but the yardage total was awful.

Packers | Jordy Nelson not involved

Sun, 26 Nov 2017 21:07:20 -0800

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson caught three passes on five targets for 11 yards in a 31-28 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 12.

Fantasy Tip: It's become an unfortunate theme since Aaron Rodgers went down, and Nelson's fantasy owners just have to hope Rodgers is able to return during the fantasy playoffs. In the meantime, Nelson needs to be benched.

Packers | Jordy Nelson held in check

Sun, 19 Nov 2017 14:02:38 -0800

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson caught two passes for 24 yards against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 11.

Fantasy Tip: Nelson has been a disappointing fantasy option for owners over the last month. He has recorded at least 50 yards in only one of his last six games. Owners should consider keeping Nelson on the bench until he has a productive game.

Packers | Jordy Nelson quiet in Week 10

Sun, 12 Nov 2017 19:02:19 -0800

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson finished with just three receptions for 20 yards on four targets in Week 10 against the Chicago Bears.

Fantasy Tip: Nelson had definitely not developed a rapport with Brett Hundley, totaling 128 yards over his past four outings with no trips to the end zone. He is an obvious WR1 when Aaron Rodgers is healthy, but he has suffered the most from a fantasy perspective with No. 12 going down. At this rate Nelson should be treated as more of a WR3.

Packers | Jordy Nelson kept in check Monday night

Mon, 06 Nov 2017 22:33:22 -0800

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson managed just four catches on seven targets for 35 yards in the team's Week 9 loss Monday, Nov. 6, against the Detroit Lions.

Fantasy Tip: Unfortunately, it appears Nelson has negatively been affected the most by Aaron Rodgers' injury, as Nelson now has just five catches for a grand total of 48 yards in Brett Hundley's two starts under center. Furthermore, he also has zero touchdowns over the last three weeks -- after scoring at least one in each of the first four contests. It's a shame, as Nelson is regularly a top-10 receiver when healthy, but with Hundley at quarterback, he's falling into WR2 territory.

Packers | One catch for Jordy Nelson

Sun, 22 Oct 2017 15:11:37 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson caught one pass for 13 yards against the New Orleans Saints in Week 7.

Fantasy Tip: Nelson will not be as valuable for fantasy owners because of the change at quarterback but he could improve his stats in the upcoming weeks. He should be considered a No. 3 receiver at this point.

Packers | Jordy Nelson posts six receptions

Sun, 15 Oct 2017 15:58:31 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson hauled in six receptions for 60 yards on 10 targets in Week 6 against the Minnesota Vikings.

Fantasy Tip: Nelson's fantasy owners can't be happy with the fact Aaron Rodgers was forced out of the game early due to an apparent broken collarbone. That will hurt the fantasy appeal of Nelson going into Week 7 and beyond.

Fri, 13 Oct 2017 14:48:32 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson (back) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 13, and is not on the injury report for Week 6.

Fantasy Tip: Nelson has been targeted at least seven times in three games this season and has five touchdowns in the last three games. He will be facing a solid Minnesota Vikings secondary but should still be a No. 1 or No. 2 fantasy receiver for fantasy owners.

Thu, 12 Oct 2017 15:27:28 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson (back) fully participated in practice Thursday, Oct. 12.

Fantasy Tip: Nelson should receive his normal workload in Week 6 and will look to improve on the 24 yards he recorded last week. He has caught five touchdowns in the last three games and should be considered a No. 1 or No. 2 receiver in all leagues.

Wed, 11 Oct 2017 14:20:57 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson (back) was listed as a full participant in practice Wednesday, Oct. 11.

Fantasy Tip: Nelson is on the right path to return for the Week 6 game in Minnesota after leaving last week's game due to injury. If he is active he'll be facing the league's 20th-ranked passing defense, so he could have a big day for fantasy owners.

Packers | Jordy Nelson scores twice on TNF

Thu, 28 Sep 2017 22:44:08 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson caught four passes for 75 yards and a pair of touchdowns against the Chicago Bears in Week 4.

Fantasy Tip: Nelson has now scored four touchdowns in five days. Not bad. A drop along the sidelines cost him a 100-yard game, but as long as he's healthy he's Aaron Rodgers' go-to guy and a weekly WR1 in all formats.

Sun, 24 Sep 2017 19:29:26 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson racked up six receptions for 52 yards and a pair of scores in Week 3 against the Cincinnati Bengals. He was targeted nine times.

Fantasy Tip: Nelson left the Week 2 game against the Atlanta Falcons with a quadriceps injury, but he didn't appear to be hampered by the issue in this one. He'll look to keep up his scoring ways on Thursday Night Football in Week 4 against the visiting Chicago Bears.

Sun, 24 Sep 2017 05:26:54 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson (quadriceps) is expected to play in Week 3's game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Fantasy Tip: Nelson was a full participant in practice throughout the week but was listed as questionable on the injury report due to a strained quadriceps. He should be viewed as a WR1 in all formats, given a favorable matchup against Cincinnati and the likelihood that Randall Cobb (chest) will be held out of action this afternoon.

Fri, 22 Sep 2017 13:40:34 -0700

Updating a previous report, Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson (quadriceps) fully practiced Friday, Sept. 22, and is officially listed as questionable.

Fantasy Tip: Nelson is expected to give it a whirl, but injuries of this nature are notorious for being aggravated. Consider him a moderate risk with his usual reward offerings as a WR1. Nelson could see more with with Randall Cobb listed as doubtful, too.

Packers | Jordy Nelson good to go

Fri, 22 Sep 2017 08:16:24 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson (quadriceps) made it through the week OK, and he's good to go for Week 3, barring a setback, according to head coach Mike McCarthy.

Fantasy Tip: Nelson only has a 7-79-1 line on the year. He's a risky WR2 play this week, and Davante Adams could be poised for a big week against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Packers | Jordy Nelson full go Thursday

Thu, 21 Sep 2017 13:20:16 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson (quadriceps) participated fully in practice Thursday, Sept. 21.

Fantasy Tip: Nelson looks good to go for Week 3 after leaving early in Week 2. Randall Cobb's status if iffy right now, which make Nelson an even more attractive play. That being said, Nelson faces a Cincinnati Bengals defense that has been stingy against the pass so far in 2017. You don't want to sit Nelson, just lower expectations somewhat.

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson (quad) said his "expectations are to play" in the team's Week 3 game Sunday, Sept. 24, against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Fantasy Tip: As long as he is able to suit up, Nelson should have a delicious matchup on tap and be able to deliver his usual WR1 value opposite the reeling 0-2 Bengals. While Cincinnati has only yielded a combined 33 points in their first two games, Aaron Rodgers is typically at his best at Lambeau Field, and Nelson figures to be one of the usual beneficiaries of that performance.

Packers | Jordy Nelson practices in full

Wed, 20 Sep 2017 15:58:06 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson (quadriceps) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Sept. 20.

Fantasy Tip: Nelson appears to be on track to play in Week 3 as long as he does not suffer a setback over the next few days. He is one of the better receivers in the NFL when he is healthy and can be a No. 1 or No. 2 receiver in all leagues.

Packers | Jordy Nelson 50-50 for Week 3

Tue, 19 Sep 2017 05:16:04 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson (quadriceps) is "50-50" to play in Week 3, according to a source, but his quadriceps strain isn't considered serious.

Fantasy Tip: The Packers face the 0-2 Cincinnati Bengals this week, and if Nelson goes, he could be on a snap count. Randall Cobb (shoulder), who was also nicked up, is day to day. Nelson would be a WR2 candidate if he suits up. Cobb could graduate to WR2 status if he were to play and Nelson didn't.

Packers | Jordy Nelson wants to play a few more years

Sat, 26 Aug 2017 12:16:19 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson said he is looking to play two to four more years before he decides to retire. Nelson has two years left on his current contract and said he would see how he feels at the end of that contact.

Fantasy Tip: Nelson has dealt with injuries during his career but is ready to be the No. 1 receiver for the Packers this season. He has recorded at least 1,250 yards in each of his last three seasons and has 27 touchdowns over his last two seasons. He should be considered a No. 1 receiver in all leagues.

Packers | Jordy Nelson evolved into slot receiver

Wed, 19 Jul 2017 07:33:42 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson ran nearly half of his routes from the slot and the perimeter in the final 10 games last season. In 181 routes run from the slot, according to Pro Football Focus, Nelson led the NFL with 2.75 yards per route.

Fantasy Tip: Nelson dipped to 13.0 yards per reception last season, but he still produced a 97-1,257-14 year. He's 32 now, and this role in the slot could be his norm. It might be tough for him to return to the 1,500-yard plateau, but with good health, he could eclipse the 100-catch mark for the first time in his career. He doesn't have much upside at this stage, but he's still a low-end WR1 candidate.

Packers | Jordy Nelson busy inside red zone

Tue, 11 Jul 2017 17:10:08 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson recorded a league-high 29 targets inside the red zone last year, including an NFL-best 15 inside the 10.

Fantasy Tip: In each of his last three healthy seasons (2013, 2014 and 2016), Nelson has seen at least 22 targets inside the red zone and 11 inside the 10. Last year, his 11 touchdowns inside the 20 and nine scores inside the 10 were each the best marks in the league by three. The arrival of Martellus Bennett is probably going to bring those totals down a bit, but there's no question the 32-year-old will remain Aaron Rodgers' go-to guy. Nelson remains a solid WR1 in all leagues.
