Packers | Jordy Nelson practices in full

Mon, 29 Aug 2016 15:53:49 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson (knee) fully participated in practice Monday, Aug. 29. Nelson said he does not expect to play in the final preseason game.

Fantasy Tip: Nelson should be ready for the start of the regular season and will be a main part of the team's passing game. He can be a No. 1 wide receiver in all fantasy leagues and likely will be selected in the first two or three rounds of drafts.

Packers | Jordy Nelson remains on limited duty

Tue, 23 Aug 2016 18:57:41 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson worked with QB Aaron Rodgers in practice Tuesday, Aug. 23, but Nelson was once again held out of competitive, 11-on-11 periods. He might not play in any preseason games, and he and Rodgers might only have a handful of practices together before the Week 1 opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars. However, Rodgers believes it will be enough. "Because I know exactly where he's going to be," Rodgers said. "That's the beauty of us playing together for a long time."

Fantasy Tip: Nelson is being held out to preserve him and not test his injury too much before the games count for real. He is expected to be 100 percent for the regular season and fantasy owners can depend upon him as a WR1 in most formats. However, with a player coming off a major injury it's a good idea to load up with plenty of depth at the position in case there are setbacks.

Packers | No brace for Jordy Nelson

Mon, 22 Aug 2016 15:27:49 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson (knee) was not wearing a brace on his surgically repaired knee during practice Monday, Aug. 22.

Fantasy Tip: Nelson appears to be on track for the start of the regular season and likely will be a big part of the passing game in 2016. Owners in most leagues should consider Nelson as a low-end No. 1 receiver that likely will selected in one of the first few rounds of drafts.

Packers | Jordy Nelson to do drills

Mon, 22 Aug 2016 09:35:32 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson (knee) will do individual drills Monday, Aug. 22.

Fantasy Tip: The question about Nelson is he's 31 and coming off a torn anterior cruciate ligament. He's a low-end WR1 in fantasy that could return to fantasy dominance despite his age.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers, Jordy Nelson to do work

Sat, 20 Aug 2016 11:24:32 -0700

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers and WR Jordy Nelson (knee) will work one-on-one as much as they can in practice Monday, Aug. 22, according to head coach Mike McCarthy. It will be Nelson's first practice of the offseason and he will be limited to individual drills. It is still unclear whether or not Nelson will play this preseason.

Fantasy Tip: Finally, Nelson is practicing. He has some catching up to do, but he's already familiar with the offense and should be focused on getting to full health before Week 1. Even coming off a serious injury, Nelson is a fringe WR1 with optimal value in standard formats.

Packers | Jordy Nelson does warm-ups in full pads

Thu, 18 Aug 2016 17:39:20 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson (knee) went through pregame warm-ups in full pads prior to the team's preseason contest Thursday, August 18, versus the Oakland Raiders. He participated in individual position drills, even receiving passes against defensive backs. It was his first time wearing pads on a football field since tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during the second preseason game last year.

Fantasy Tip: This is very encouraging news for the star receiver, as it should ensure that he's ready to go for Week 1. As long as that's the case, Nelson can be drafted early on as a WR1, with potential to do big things in 2016. In his last season two years ago, the 31-year-old hauled in career highs of 98 receptions for 1,519 yards to go with 13 touchdowns.

Packers | Jordy Nelson won't play Thursday

Wed, 17 Aug 2016 19:15:12 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson (knee) will be held out of the preseason game Thursday, Aug. 18, against the Oakland Raiders.

Fantasy Tip: Nelson is expected to be ready for the regular season and he will be a bona fide WR1 in all fantasy formats if he can return to his pre-injury form. So far there is no reason to believe he won't be 100 percent by Week 1.

Packers | Jordy Nelson cleared to practice

Wed, 17 Aug 2016 15:10:37 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson (knee) passed his physical and was activated from the Physically Unable to Perform list Wednesday, Aug. 17, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Nelson probably will be eased back into practice but appears to be on track for the start of the regular season. He will be one of the main targets in the passing game this season for the Packers and should be a No. 1 wide receiver for most owners.

Packers | Jordy Nelson might return soon

Sun, 07 Aug 2016 18:40:24 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson (knee) might return from the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list next week, QB Aaron Rodgers said Sunday, Aug. 7. Previously there had been no confirmation from the team's management on a timetable for Nelson's return.

Fantasy Tip: If Nelson is 100 percent healthy for the regular season opener he is a top-notch WR1 in all fantasy leagues, and his inclusion in the lineup also helps inch up the value of Aaron Rodgers as the gunslinger will benefit from a full arsenal.

Packers | Jordy Nelson tweaked other knee

Tue, 26 Jul 2016 10:28:51 -0700

Updating a previous report, Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson (knee) said he was placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list because he tweaked his other knee, and not his knee that required season-ending surgery last year. Nelson added Week 1 is not in jeopardy, but he does not know when he will be ready to practice during training camp.

Fantasy Tip: On the surface, this sounds like a positive, but if Nelson is limited during training camp because both knees aren't 100%, it's a concern. Over the long haul, Nelson projects to finish as a No. 1 fantasy wide receiver, but he might not be the safest option in the first two rounds of drafts, either. The upside and floor are both there, but it's likely ill-advised to expect a 2014 output from the 31-year-old veteran. This is a situation to monitor over the coming weeks.

Packers | Jordy Nelson on PUP

Tue, 26 Jul 2016 08:39:53 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson (knee) was placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list Tuesday, July 26. Head coach Mike McCarthy said there are no long-term concerns with Nelson, and he's likely to be activated at some point in training camp.

Fantasy Tip: Now 31, questions linger if he can return to the 98-1,519-13 monster he was in 2014. He's still in the WR1 category, but there are a few players with more upside and stability.

Packers | Some Packers may not practice

Mon, 25 Jul 2016 11:19:27 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson (knee) and TE Jared Cook (foot) and others may initially be held out of training camp practices.

Fantasy Tip: It would behoove the Packers to take it easy with Nelson, who is coming off a torn anterior cruciate ligament. If Nelson doesn't suffer any setbacks, though, he's primed for another WR1 season. Meanwhile, it's still unclear if Cook will be starting at tight end for Green Bay. Richard Rodgers could take that spot, but neither should be pursued as a fantasy starter.

Packers | Jordy Nelson ahead of schedule

Thu, 21 Jul 2016 20:41:20 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson (knee) appears to be ahead of the curve in his rehabilitation, and Nelson said he would have been able to play in the Super Bowl last year had the Packers qualified.

Fantasy Tip: Any player coming off a major knee injury carries some risk, but Nelson has too much upside as Aaron Rodgers' go-to weapon to slip past the second round.

Packers | Jordy Nelson unclear for start of camp

Wed, 13 Jul 2016 20:21:43 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson (knee) said in June that he was ready, but it remains to be seen whether head coach Mike McCarthy and team doctors will give Nelson the green light when training camp opens July 26.

Fantasy Tip: Nelson is on the other side of 30 and making his way back from a major injury, so there is a lot of uncertainty surrounding Nelson. Pre-injury he was a Top 10 fantasy option, and his Average Draft Position (ADP) has been in the middle of the second round in most formats. But there is a lot of risk, so plan to have plenty of depth on hand.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers, others excused

Tue, 14 Jun 2016 09:23:25 -0700

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers and other select veterans have been excused from mandatory minicamp this week by head coach Mike McCarthy. WRs Randall Cobb and Jordy Nelson were also included in that group. "The approach is different than the past," McCarthy said. "So, it's obviously tailored toward the younger players." QB Brett Hundley will get most of the work with what is left of the No. 1 offense.

Fantasy Tip: The Packers are playing in the Hall of Fame Game this preseason, so their training camp will begin a week earlier in July than it did a year ago. McCarthy wants to make sure his veterans are well rested. Rodgers remains an elite fantasy QB worth taking in the early rounds, especially since he'll have a healthy Nelson to throw to in 2016.

Packers | Jordy Nelson ready for games

Thu, 02 Jun 2016 13:50:30 -0700

Updating a previous report, Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson (knee) said if there was a game Sunday, June 5, then he would be playing in it. Nelson will not participate in any 11-on-11 drills until training camp just to be safe while he recovers from a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

Fantasy Tip: Green Bay doesn't want to risk another serious loss before the season even starts. Nelson should be brought along cautiously through the rest of the offseason and the preseason. If he can avoid any setbacks, he's worth consideration as a low-end WR1.

Packers | Jordy Nelson runs route on sideline

Thu, 02 Jun 2016 10:13:51 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson (knee) did not participate in practice during organized team activities Thursday, June 2, but he did run a route on the sideline for QB Aaron Rodgers.

Fantasy Tip: Nelson is expected to be ready for training camp and checks out as a low-end No. 1 receiver. While it is worth monitoring his progress leading into the season after missing all of 2015, grabbing tosses from Rodgers as the big-play threat in a high-end offense significantly lessens concerns.

Packers | Jordy Nelson taking things slow

Fri, 27 May 2016 12:44:16 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson (knee) said his surgically repaired knee is fine, but he understands why the team is limiting his work during organized team activities. Nelson has been allowed to run, lift and perform all of the drills the trainers ask him to do. Nelson has been running routes on a side field during practices. He said he will need to regain his chemistry with QB Aaron Rodgers once he is cleared to practice again.

Fantasy Tip: Nelson appears to be on track for the start of training camp and should be one of the main targets for Rodgers in 2016. He should be considered a No. 1 or No.2 wide receiver for owners in most leagues.

Packers | Jordy Nelson is on schedule

Tue, 24 May 2016 15:48:38 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson (knee) is right on schedule in his recovery from a torn anterior cruciate ligament, according to head coach Mike McCarthy. It's still unclear if Nelson will participate in organized team activities.

Fantasy Tip: Nelson's timetable isn't crystal clear at this point, but it seems likely that he'll be ready to go by the time the 2016 season starts. He's the Packers' biggest deep threat and still worth drafting as a WR1.

Mon, 18 Apr 2016 10:38:44 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson (knee) fully participated in offseason workouts Monday, April 18, and said that his next step will be running routes. It is not known if Nelson will be able to participate in organized team activities.

Fantasy Tip: Nelson is working his way back from a torn anterior cruciate ligament and should be ready for the start of training camp. Nelson will see plenty of targets in 2016 and could be selected in one of the first few rounds of drafts.

Packers | Jordy Nelson ahead of schedule

Wed, 23 Mar 2016 09:12:56 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson (knee) is doing well in his rehab from a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his knee, and head coach Mike McCarthy said Nelson has been running.

Fantasy Tip: The Packers offense struggled mightily all year in the absence of Nelson last year. With him returning, they should improve, and Nelson should return to WR1 status for fantasy owners if he's completely healthy.

Packers | Jordy Nelson running routes soon?

Thu, 17 Mar 2016 20:15:09 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson (knee) said he has had no setbacks in his rehabilitation from knee surgery, and he will find out in the next couple of weeks when he can begin running routes.

Fantasy Tip: As long as Nelson remains on track to be ready for the start of the 2016 season, he is worth drafting as a WR1.

Packers | Jordy Nelson ahead of schedule

Thu, 25 Feb 2016 09:15:47 -0800

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson (knee) is ahead of schedule in his recovery from a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his knee last year.

"I'm not worried about him getting back to where he was. He's way ahead of schedule. I've already talked to him, with this fifth preseason game, about how we play him in the preseason. He'll work some in the OTAs, but I don't see him having any limitations come training camp," head coach Mike McCarthy said.

Fantasy Tip: The loss of Nelson hurt the Packers offense all year, and they were never able to click. His return should do wonders for the passing game, and it should help Aaron Rodgers bounce back as an elite QB1. Nelson, if fully healthy, is a legitimate WR1, especially in PPR leagues.

Packers | Jordy Nelson has resumed running

Wed, 03 Feb 2016 22:00:15 -0800

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson (knee) started to run recently and he is hopeful of being a full participant when training camp begins this summer. "I think Jordy will come back better than ever," head coach Mike McCarthy said. "Just like you knew he would, he's so far ahead with the rehab, he looks great. There's no reason to think he won't be as good as new."

Fantasy Tip: Nelson will be 31 next season, and coming back from a torn anterior cruciate ligament, he is a risky fantasy pick at best. In past years he has gone in the early rounds, but let him be other people's risk that early. If he slips into the area of Round 6 through 8, he is worth a spot then if you have your less risky starters selected first.

Packers | Mike McCarthy talks Jordy Nelson absence

Tue, 19 Jan 2016 17:45:17 -0800

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson's absence throughout the season gave the Packers a lack of a big target down the field in 2015. Head coach Mike McCarthy lamented that disadvantage. "You look at the production of Jordy when he went inside… now you're dictating to the defense what coverage they can play to you," McCarthy said. "When you don't have that element or the element to complement that, you see what we saw this year."

Fantasy Tip: Nelson is an irreplaceable receiver who gives the Packers not only a big target, but a speedy downfield threat. Nelson is apparently ahead of schedule in his rehabilitation process, so he should be good to go for offseason activities and for next season as long as he doesn't suffer any setbacks. There's always risk in drafting a player coming off a serious injury, but Nelson should still be a low-end WR1 consideration.

Packers | Jordy Nelson ahead of schedule

Wed, 02 Dec 2015 10:08:10 -0800

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson (knee) is ahead of schedule in his recovery from surgery on his knee, and he said he should be ready for training camp next summer. Nelson is coming to practice every day to help the Packers receivers, including WR Davante Adams, who caught just two passes for 14 yards despite being thrown at 11 times in Week 12.

Fantasy Tip: Nelson should be good to go for the 2016 season, and he'll surely be a high fantasy draft pick despite missing all of the 2015 season. Adams ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) continues to be maddening for his fantasy owners, and he's impossible to predict on a week-to-week basis. He shouldn't be seen as anything more than a sizable gamble in a flex spot on FantasyScore right now.

Packers | Jordy Nelson placed on IR

Tue, 01 Sep 2015 14:39:33 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson (knee) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Tuesday, Sept. 1.

Fantasy Tip: Randall Cobb and Davante Adams are now Aaron Rodgers' go-to wide receivers. Adams should be considered a WR2 with Cobb still in WR1 territory. If you're in a keeper league, feel free to put Nelson in your IR slot as well.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers had great chemistry with Jordy Nelson

Mon, 24 Aug 2015 16:12:47 -0700

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers' passer rating when targeting WR Jordy Nelson in the last four seasons has been 150.2, 130.3, 111.6 and 128.2, according to Pro Football Focus.

Fantasy Tip: The Packers receiving corps is still pretty deep, but losing a receiver of Nelson's caliber for the year is a big blow, and it'll likely drop Rodgers behind Andrew Luck as the top-rated fantasy quarterback. Randall Cobb remains a WR1 and should benefit from more targets, while Davante Adams is now a legitimate WR3 for fantasy squads.

Mon, 24 Aug 2015 15:25:00 -0700

Updating a previous report, Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson (knee) has a torn anterior cruciate ligament, but the MRI revealed all of his other knee ligaments are fine.

Fantasy Tip: Devante Adams likely will step in for Nelson this season, which will boost his fantasy value. He could now be a middle-round option in most leagues this this season. Nelson should be ready for next season if he does not suffer any setbacks and should be a solid fantasy option in 2016.

Packers | Jordy Nelson out for year

Mon, 24 Aug 2015 14:19:00 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson (knee) is officially out for the season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

Fantasy Tip: This was to be expected, there had just been no official word yet. Davante Adams' fantasy value increases tremendously. He could put up WR2 production. Jeff Janis is a sleeper now.

Packers | Davante Adams next man up

Sun, 23 Aug 2015 21:30:50 -0700

If Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson (knee) misses the season, second-year WR Davante Adams will have an expanded role. He was already expected to have a larger role this year. "I like where I'm at but I want to keep improving every week. I feel like I'm in a good position, and I want to keep working and elevating my game regardless," Adams said.

Fantasy Tip: Adams should be considered a WR3 until he's able to prove he can take the next step on a consistent basis, but in the high-octane Green Bay offense he has plenty of upside. Look for him to soar up draft boards quickly and his $3,600 price for FantasyScore in Week 1 looks to be a bargain.

Packers | Ty Montgomery could see more work

Sun, 23 Aug 2015 19:50:42 -0700

Green Bay Packers rookie WR Ty Montgomery could play a larger role should the team be without WR Jordy Nelson (knee) this season. Montgomery has been a standout during training camp and will certainly see more snaps the remainder of this month.

Fantasy Tip: He's worth keeping a close eye on and should be considered as a WR4 or WR5 on draft day. There is potential here, even if he is just third option among the Green Bay receivers. At $2,000 in Week 1 on FantasyScore, he's worth sneaking into your lineup if you're looking for a low-cost option with upside.

Updating previous reports, Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson (knee) is believed to have suffered a torn ACL in his left knee during the team's second preseason game, according to a source. However, MRI results have not yet been confirmed.

Sun, 23 Aug 2015 11:53:07 -0700

Updating a previous report, Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson (knee) suffered a knee injury during the second preseason game Sunday, Aug. 23.

Packers | Jordy Nelson practices Wednesday

Wed, 10 Jun 2015 14:50:49 -0700

Nelson participated in individual drills during organized team activities. After practice, Nelson said he's right where he wants to be in the recovery process and that he'll be ready for training camp July 30.

Fantasy Tip: Nelson seems to be right on schedule and the fact that he is now practicing is encouraging. It would still be smart to monitor his status leading up to training camp, but it looks like he'll be good to go for the start of the season. He's a WR1 when he's at full health.

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson (hip) did not participate in organized team activities Thursday, May 28, as he continues to recover from offseason hip surgery. A timetable for his return has not been disclosed.

Fantasy Tip: There's no reason for Nelson to rush back from the surgery, especially when we're still in May and OTAs have just begun. Assuming he makes a full recovery from the surgery, Nelson should be considered a WR1 in 2015.

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson (hip) underwent hip surgery this offseason and is expected to be sidelined for six to eight weeks.

Fantasy Tip: Nelson probably will miss some offseason workouts but should be fine for training camp. Nelson ranked fourth in the league in receiving yards this past season with 1,519 yards and also recorded 13 touchdowns during the season. Nelson should be a No. 1 wide receiver for owners in drafts next season if the hip is not a factor.

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson finished with just two catches on five targets for 22 yards in a 26-21 win over the Dallas Cowboys in the divisional round of the playoffs Sunday, Jan. 11.

Fantasy Tip: The Cowboys seemed determined to prevent Nelson from beating them down the field, and as a result, Davante Adams and Randall Cobb were both targeted 11 times. Nelson remains a big-play threat, but he could be in for another tough outing next week with the Packers set to face the stingy secondary of the Seattle Seahawks.

Packers | GB struggled with physical play

Mon, 15 Dec 2014 14:54:08 -0800

The Green Bay Packers were beaten by the Buffalo Bills in Week 15, and the Bills excelled by playing physical with the Packers receivers and disrupting the routes of WRs Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb and Davante Adams. The Bills had just one sack on Packers QB Aaron Rodgers and three hits, but the lack of blitzing allowed Buffalo's corners to play more aggressively on the outside. "They were physical outside with our receivers and were able to get away with it all day," Rodgers said. "We had some chances, missed on them."

Fantasy Tip: Rodgers' dud likely cost many a chance at a fantasyfootball title. If you're playing at FantasyScore, though, he has an excellent chance to bounce back and get you a win in Week 16 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and their poor defense.

Packers | Jordy Nelson had only two catches

Fri, 03 Oct 2014 10:13:50 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson entered the Week 5 game leading the NFL in catches and receiving yards, but he had only two catches (one for a 66-yard touchdown) against the Minnesota Vikings Thursday, Oct. 2.

Fantasy Tip: The Packers weren't forced to throw much after building a big lead early against the Vikings. Despite the relatively quiet night for Nelson, he should continue to be a strong play on a weekly basis, especially in PPR leagues like FantasyScore.

Packers | Jordy Nelson piling up targets

Sat, 27 Sep 2014 20:56:38 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson's 12.3 targets per game are the most in the NFL after three weeks, and WR Randall Cobb ranks second on the team with 7.0 targets per game.

Fantasy Tip: Cobb has padded his point total this season by catching three touchdowns, but Nelson is clearly Aaron Rodgers' go-to weapon right now. Cobb will cost $7,4000 (14.8% of cap) at FantasyScore in Week 4 and Nelson will cost $8,300 (16.6% of cap), but Nelson could be worth the extra cost because of the hefty amount of targets he has been seeing.

Packers | Jordy Nelson looks to stay hot

Fri, 26 Sep 2014 18:09:58 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson will be facing the Chicago Bears in Week 4. In last season's regular season finale against Chicago, Nelson went for 10 receptions and 161 yards, and he has at least four receptions and 67 yards in the past four meetings with the Bears.

Fantasy Tip: One thing that stands out for fantasy owners, Nelson has found the end zone just twice in nine meetings with the Bears, and that happened in the same game in Week 16 of the 2011 season. Due to his lack of career touchdowns against Chicago, he might be considered a little overpriced at $8300 in FantasyScore (or 16.6 percent of the salary cap).
