Cardinals | David Johnson is an every-down back

Tue, 27 Sep 2016 20:13:58 -0700

Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson played 79 of a possible 82 snaps against the Buffalo Bills in Week 3. RBs Chris Johnson and Andre Ellington logged just three and one, respectively.

Fantasy Tip: There were some mild concerns after Chris Johnson (16 carries) got more work than David Johnson (12) in Week 2 that the former might have a larger role going forward, but Week 3 proves D. Johnson is among the few legit every-down backs in the NFL and a RB1 in all fantasy formats.

Cardinals | David Johnson will have help

Thu, 11 Aug 2016 13:29:38 -0700

Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson will not be run into the ground early on in the regular season because RBs Chris Johnson and Andre Ellington will be able to help, according to head coach Bruce Arians.

Fantasy Tip: That being said, David Johnson will be Arizona's go-to back as long as he's healthy. Johnson quickly became one of the most complete running backs in the NFL and should be taken in the first or second round of fantasy drafts with added value in PPR leagues.

Cardinals | Andre Ellington could play receiver

Mon, 18 Jul 2016 14:55:03 -0700

The majority of Arizona Cardinals RB Andre Ellington's playing time may come at wide receiver, as long as RBs David Johnson and Chris Johnson are healthy, according to azcardinals.com's Darren Urban.

Fantasy Tip: Ellington has had injury issues throughout his career, and he'll likely be the No. 3 running back in 2016, so his fantasy value is really limited right now. He still shouldn't be totally overlooked, though, and taking a deep flier on Ellington in later rounds isn't the worst strategy.

Cardinals | David Johnson will be featured

Mon, 18 Jul 2016 14:45:34 -0700

Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson is the unquestioned bellcow running back for the Cardinals this year, according to Darren Urban of azcardinals.com. RBs Chris Johnson and Andre Ellington will back up like they did for most of 2015.

Fantasy Tip: As long as David Johnson is healthy, he'll be the primary ball carrier in Arizona, and he deserves to be after a stellar rookie campaign. Draft Johnson as a top-five fantasy running back in all formats.

Cardinals | Cards could use two RBs at a time

Tue, 07 Jun 2016 19:11:17 -0700

Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson is expected to get a lion's share of the work, but RBs Chris Johnson and Andre Ellington each have skillsets which could help the offense. In fact, head coach Bruce Arians hinted Tuesday, June 7, that two backs could be on the field at the same time. "When I first came here, that's something B.A. told me he wanted to do," Chris Johnson said. "It started off with me getting here late (in training camp), then Andre getting hurt early and me getting hurt. It was hard to get two of us on the field at one time, but that's something we've really been working hard on."

Fantasy Tip: The Cardinals have three talented backs, but David Johnson is the one you'll want to pick first on draft day, with CJ2K as a pick for depth and Andre Ellington as a reserve in PPR formats.

Cardinals | Chris Johnson could start for Arizona

Tue, 31 May 2016 16:54:18 -0700

Arizona Cardinals RB Chris Johnson could claim the starting job in Arizona's backfield despite head coach Bruce Arians claiming that RB David Johnson is the bell cow back, in the opinion of ESPN.com's Josh Weinfuss.

Fantasy Tip: Make no mistake -- David Johnson is the running back to own in Arizona. He has top-five running back potential even with the other Johnson splitting touches with him. As for Chris Johnson, he has RB4 upside in PPR formats if he can stay healthy.

Cardinals | Chris Johnson likes RB tandem

Sat, 28 May 2016 07:04:49 -0700

Arizona Cardinals RB Chris Johnson said he believes he and RB David Johnson can be the best running back tandem in the NFL. David Johnson said Chris Johnson has helped him become a more patient running back.

Fantasy Tip: David Johnson probably will receive a majority of the work at running back, but Chris Johnson will also be involved in the running game. Both running backs should be owned in fantasy leagues, but David Johnson should be a weekly starting option.

Cardinals | Chris Johnson not worried about role

Sat, 02 Apr 2016 17:33:01 -0700

Arizona Cardinals RB Chris Johnson said he believes head coach Bruce Arians will know how to make sure both he and RB David Johnson receive touches. "Not sure how things are going to go, but I'm pretty sure we'll have a nice one-two punch," Chris Johnson said.

Fantasy Tip: David Johnson is expected to be the lead back, but Chris Johnson could still make a solid RB3 in PPR formats. At the very least, CJ2K is a must-own player in case David Johnson struggles or suffers an injury.

Dolphins | Miami eyeing Ezekiel Elliott?

Fri, 18 Mar 2016 18:16:41 -0700

Ohio State RB Ezekiel Elliott is being considered as an option for the 13th overall pick by the Miami Dolphins, who missed out on Arizona Cardinals RB Chris Johnson and Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson in free agency.

Fantasy Tip: Elliott has the all-around game to thrive in Adam Gase's offensive system, and he could provide RB2 value as a rookie. If Miami does use a first-round pick on Elliott, Jay Ajayi would no longer be a starting-caliber fantasy back.

Cardinals | Chris Johnson returns to Cards

Thu, 17 Mar 2016 12:39:02 -0700

Arizona Cardinals RB Chris Johnson re-signed a one-year deal with the Cardinals Thursday, March 17, according to a source. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Fantasy Tip: CJ2K was having a nice rebound season in Arizona before fracturing his tibia in Week 12. Timing is everything, though, and David Johnson took the primary backfield role and ran with it. Heading into 2016, the Cardinals will continue to use the versatile and explosive younger Johnson as their primary back, and Andre Ellington remains in the picture, as well. That means Chris Johnson will likely battle for touches as a third-down option with Ellington. He could be a useful RB3 in point-per-reception leagues, but that'll be his ceiling now that he's 30 and coming off a serious injury.

Dolphins | Chris Johnson likely to pick soon

Wed, 16 Mar 2016 18:58:15 -0700

Updating a previous report, free-agent RB Chris Johnson (Cardinals) visited with the Miami Dolphins, and he is expected to pick between the Arizona Cardinals and Miami Dolphins. Other teams have requested visits, but he is unlikely to make them at this point.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson would have a chance at major carries and yardage in Miami, as Lamar Miller is now on the Houston Texans and the team needs someone to shoulder the load. A return to Arizona would mean a timeshare, at best, with David Johnson, among others.

Cardinals | Arizona still in mix for CJ2K

Wed, 16 Mar 2016 18:57:40 -0700

Free-agent RB Chris Johnson (Cardinals) visited the Miami Dolphins this week, and he is expected to select between his old team, the Arizona Cardinals, and the Miami Dolphins soon. Other clubs have requested a meeting, but he is unlikely to make them at this point.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson resurrected his career in Glendale last season, but David Johnson emerged as a star once Johnson went down. At best, CJ2K would be in an even carries split with Johnson. He would likely have a better chance to shoulder more of the load in Miami, so it remains to be seen how his fantasy value will shake down until he makes a decision. He'll have more appeal in South Florida.

NFL | Two finalists for Chris Johnson

Wed, 16 Mar 2016 17:28:30 -0700

Free-agent RB Chris Johnson (Cardinals) is expected to sign with either the Arizona Cardinals or Miami Dolphins. Johnson has received interest from other teams but is not expected to make any more trips.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson probably will make a decision in the near future, but he probably will not be a starter with either team. Johnson could be a third-down back with whoever he signs with, which will give him some fantasy value. Owners could consider him a No. 3 running back in most leagues, but Johnson probably will not be a weekly starting option.

Dolphins | Chris Johnson visiting Miami

Wed, 16 Mar 2016 08:41:34 -0700

Free-agent RB Chris Johnson (Cardinals) is visiting with the Miami Dolphins Wednesday, March 16.

Fantasy Tip: Does CJ2k have another "prove them wrong" season left in him at 31? It's questionable. He'll be an RB3 consideration in fantasy most likely.

NFL | Chris Johnson could sign soon

Tue, 15 Mar 2016 11:31:41 -0700

Free-agent RB Chris Johnson (Cardinals) could sign with a team as early as this week, according to a source. Prospective teams were not disclosed.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson has voiced his desire to return to the Cardinals, but David Johnson proved last year that he is ready to be their featured running back. Johnson still has some gas left in the tank, though, and played well when he was healthy in Arizona. His fantasy value depends on which team he signs with, but he could still be in RB3 territory in PPR formats.

Cardinals | Chris Johnson wants to return

Tue, 23 Feb 2016 22:17:48 -0800

Arizona Cardinals impending free-agent RB Chris Johnson said Tuesday, Feb. 23, that he has spoken with head coach Bruce Arians and running backs coach Stump Mitchell about returning to the team in 2016. "They want me back and I want to be back, but you know how the business side is," Johnson said in a satellite radio interview.

Fantasy Tip: CJ2K bounced back with 814 yard and three touchdowns through 11 games before suffering a season-ending knee injury. The emergence of David Johnson means Chris Johnson would likely have to take a backseat, or at least share the carries, if he does return. Both would be low-end RB2 or flex fantasy options if that situation occurs.

Cardinals | Chris Johnson ready for Super Bowl

Tue, 19 Jan 2016 14:51:00 -0800

Arizona Cardinals RB Chris Johnson (leg) will be ready to play if the Cardinals make it to the Super Bowl. Johnson said he feels explosive and that he could have played last weekend, but he is not eligible to return from the short-term Injured Reserve until next week.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson's eligibility is moot if the Cardinals aren't victorious versus the Carolina Panthers this weekend. If Arizona comes out on top, it gives them yet another weapon for the Super Bowl in addition to David Johnson in the backfield.

Cardinals | Chris Johnson resumes practicing

Tue, 12 Jan 2016 14:34:58 -0800

Arizona Cardinals RB Chris Johnson (leg) returned to practice Tuesday, Jan. 12. He is still on the short-term Reserve/Injured list and is not eligible to play until the Super Bowl.

Fantasy Tip: David Johnson ($7,900, 15.8% of cap) will remain Arizona's featured running back this weekend. He has been on a tear since Chris Johnson and Andre Ellington ($3,800, 7.6%) went down with injuries. Ellington should receive some touches, too, but he's second fiddle to David Johnson right now.

Cardinals | Chris Johnson to practice some

Wed, 06 Jan 2016 05:47:58 -0800

Arizona Cardinals RB Chris Johnson (leg) will participate in some parts of practice this week. He's not eligible to return from Injured Reserve designated to return until the Super Bowl.

Fantasy Tip: David Johnson has been rolling and will be a high-end option on FantasyScore in the divisional round.

Cardinals | Chris Johnson put on IR

Tue, 01 Dec 2015 13:49:44 -0800

Arizona Cardinals RB Chris Johnson (leg) was placed on the short-term Reserve/Injured list Tuesday, Dec. 1, and promoted RB Kerwynn Williams from the practice squad to the active roster in a corresponding move. CB Robert Nelson was also released. Free-agent SS D.J. Swearinger (Buccaneers) was signed to the practice squad and TE Brandon Bostick was released.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson will be out at least six weeks. He'd be eligible to return if Arizona advanced to the Super Bowl. You can forget about him in all fantasy formats for the rest of this year. David Johnson is an immediate add off the waiver wire, and he could start in Week 13 against the St. Louis Rams if Andre Ellington is out of action with turf toe.

Cardinals | Chris Johnson close to incentives

Tue, 01 Dec 2015 08:11:58 -0800

Arizona Cardinals RB Chris Johnson (leg) is 36 rushing yards away from earning a $250,000 bonus for 850 yards, according to a league source. Johnson had $1.13 million in incentives in his contract and has earned $280,000 of those alongside his $870,000 base salary.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson could be out the rest of the regular season, pending tests to confirm a broken tibia. David Johnson ($6,300, 12.6% of cap) figures to be the lead back this week with Andre Ellington (toe) also banged up. Johnson doesn't have the best matchup, with the St. Louis Rams to contend with, but he's a low-end RB2 option on FantasyScore.

Cardinals | Chris Johnson could miss 6-8 weeks

Tue, 01 Dec 2015 06:37:13 -0800

Updating previous reports, Arizona Cardinals RB Chris Johnson (leg) could be out six to eight weeks with a broken tibia, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: David Johnson ($6,300, 12.6% of cap) figures to be the lead back this week with Andre Ellington (toe) also banged up. Johnson doesn't have the best matchup, with the St. Louis Rams to contend with, but he's a low-end RB2 option on FantasyScore.

Cardinals | Chris Johnson has fractured tibia

Mon, 30 Nov 2015 15:16:42 -0800

Arizona Cardinals RB Chris Johnson (leg) suffered a fractured tibia during the team's Week 12 game and will miss an extended period of time. The team is still waiting to receive a definite timetable for his return.

Fantasy Tip: David Johnson could become the starting running back if Johnson and Andre Ellington miss significant time. Owners should monitor the practice participation this week to see who will be available to play against the St. Louis Rams in Week 13. David Johnson could be a solid starting option in some leagues.

Arizona Cardinals RB Chris Johnson (knee) has a bone bruise in his knee, but the team is awaiting results of an MRI Monday, Nov. 30, according to general manager Steve Keim.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson's status for Week 13 against the St. Louis Rams will hinge to the results of the MRI. Stay tuned through the week.

Cardinals | Chris Johnson goes to locker room

Sun, 29 Nov 2015 15:42:45 -0800

Arizona Cardinals RB Chris Johnson (knee) went to the locker room during the Week 12 game against the San Francisco 49ers due to a left knee injury. He is questionable to return.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson is on the mend, and Andre Ellington checked out due to a foot issue, so rookie David Johnson will handle most of the touches down the stretch if neither can return.

Cardinals | Chris Johnson expected to play

Fri, 27 Nov 2015 15:41:29 -0800

Arizona Cardinals RB Chris Johnson (knee) practiced in full Friday, Nov. 27, and is probable against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 12.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson ($7,300, 14.6% of cap) had a big game against San Fran earlier this year, and you should look to get him in your lineup somehow once again. The Niners give up the fourth-most PPR fantasy points (29.9) to running backs per week this year.

Cardinals | Four Cardinals limited Thursday

Thu, 26 Nov 2015 13:25:29 -0800

Arizona Cardinals WRs John Brown (hamstring), Larry Fitzgerald (ankle) and Michael Floyd (hamstring) and RB Chris Johnson (knee) were limited in practice Thursday, Nov. 26.

Fantasy Tip: Brown ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) didn't practice yesterday, so his limited status is still encouraging. Floyd ($6,600, 13.2%) is probably the other bigger question mark, but don't be surprised if they all end up playing. The whole Arizona offense has a tremendous matchup against the 49ers, and Johnson ($7,300, 14.6%) and Fitzgerald ($7,900, 15.8%) in particular should be seriously considered on FantasyScore.

Cardinals | Chris Johnson to face San Fran

Wed, 25 Nov 2015 21:57:45 -0800

Arizona Cardinals RB Chris Johnson will meet the San Francisco 49ers in Week 12. The 49ers allowed 126.2 yards per game, 27th in the NFL. The 49ers have also given up 10 touchdowns on the ground through 10 games.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson ($7,300, 14.6% of cap) posted 110 rushing yards with two of his three rushing touchdowns in the first meeting with the 49ers in Week 3. He is a must-have in FantasyScore this weekend against a team he had his best success against this season.

Cardinals | Three Cardinals limited

Wed, 25 Nov 2015 16:38:29 -0800

Arizona Cardinals WRs Larry Fitzgerald (ankle), Michael Floyd (hamstring) and RB Chris Johnson (knee) were limited in practice Wednesday, Nov. 25.

Fantasy Tip: All three of Fitz ($7,900, 15.8% of cap), Floyd ($6,600, 13.2%) and Johnson ($7,300, 14.6%) have great matchups against a San Francisco 49ers defense that has struggled in every facet on that side of the ball. If they're able to play, all three are good starts on FantasyScore.

Cardinals | Chris Johnson totals 65 yards

Sun, 22 Nov 2015 22:29:54 -0800

Arizona Cardinals RB Chris Johnson ran 18 times for 63 yards in the Week 11 game against the Cincinnati Bengals, and he added one reception for two yards on two targets.

Fantasy Tip: It wasn't a great outing for Johnson, but the Cincinnati defense is a decent rush defense which does not allow many scores on the ground. CJ2K should rebound in Week 12 on the road against the San Francisco 49ers.

Cardinals | Chris Johnson struck in neutral

Sun, 15 Nov 2015 22:37:32 -0800

Arizona Cardinals RB Chris Johnson carried 25 times for 58 yards in the Week 10 game against the Seattle Seahawks. He did not have any receptions while being targeted two times.

Fantasy Tip: It was a difficult matchup for Johnson, and he struggled against the Seattle defense as expected. Despite the struggles, the ratio is 3:1 in terms of touches between CJ2K and Andre Ellington. Johnson is the back you'll want to target in FantasyScore.

Cardinals | Chris Johnson may receive new deal

Sun, 01 Nov 2015 07:33:25 -0800

Arizona Cardinals RB Chris Johnson had contract extension talks with the Cardinals this week but no deal is imminent at this point.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) has played well since taking over the starting running back job and should continue to have a big role in the offense. Johnson is a good option in all leagues this week since the Cleveland Browns struggle to start the running game.

Cardinals | Arizona running well

Tue, 27 Oct 2015 16:35:10 -0700

Arizona Cardinals RBs Chris Johnson, Andre Ellington and David Johnson have helped Arizona achieve 110 rushing yards or more in six of their last seven games. On the season, the Cardinals are averaging 125.6 rushing yards per game. They averaged 81.8 rushing yards per game last year.

Fantasy Tip: Chris Johnson ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) has really come on strong for the Cardinals so far this season. Arizona now has three healthy and capable running backs in their stable, but Chris Johnson will probably continue to see the majority of the work as long as he stays healthy. Johnson and the Cardinals face a tough test on the road in the Seattle Seahawks this weekend, so this may be the week not to roster any Arizona running back on FantasyScore.

Cardinals | Chris Johnson does well after contact

Tue, 27 Oct 2015 05:11:41 -0700

Arizona Cardinals RB Chris Johnson rushed for 91 yards after contact in the team's Week 7 game, which is the most he has recorded in a game since 2009. Johnson leads the NFL in yards after contact this season.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson has produced since taking over the starting running back job and should continue to receive most of the carries as the season goes on. He will have a favorable matchup against the Cleveland Browns in Week 8 and should be a starting option in all leagues.

Cardinals | Chris Johnson runs for 122 yards, TD

Mon, 26 Oct 2015 21:28:39 -0700

Arizona Cardinals RB Chris Johnson rushed 18 times for 122 yards and a touchdown in the Week 7 game against the Baltimore Ravens Monday, Oct. 26. He was not targeted once in the passing game.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) picked up a bulk of his yardage on a play where he was tackled on top of a defender, got back up and ran for 60-plus yards with the defense quitting on the play. FantasyScore players don't care how it happened, they'll take the triple-digit yardage and score any way they can get it.

Cardinals | Chris Johnson quiet in Week 6

Sun, 18 Oct 2015 16:43:42 -0700

Arizona Cardinals RB Chris Johnson had 14 carries for 40 yards and one catch for five yards in a 25-13 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 6.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson ($6,100, 12.2% of cap) averaged just 2.9 yards per carry against the Steelers, but on the plus side, he dominated the carries. He should retain a steady role in the offense, but don't be surprised if Andre Ellington ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) starts to take a few more touches away.

Cardinals | Chris Johnson should remain starter

Sat, 17 Oct 2015 11:03:13 -0700

Arizona Cardinals RB Chris Johnson should remain the starting running back even with RB Andre Ellington returning, according to ESPN.com's Josh Weinfuss.

Fantasy Tip: The Cardinals are suddenly stacked at running back with Johnson, Ellington and David Johnson. Even with Ellington back in action last week, Chris Johnson ($6,100, 12.2% of cap) still ran for 101 yards. The busy backfield may turn some people off, but he's still worth considering this week with the way he's performed this season.

Cardinals | Arizona running the ball well

Fri, 16 Oct 2015 16:43:17 -0700

Arizona Cardinals RB Chris Johnson is leading a Cardinals running attack that is averaging 4.96 yards per carry, which leads the NFL.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson ($6,100, 12.2% of cap) took over the starting job a few weeks ago and has rushed for at least 83 yards in the last three games with two games of at least 100 yards. Johnson has become a weekly starting option because of the offense he is playing in this season.

Arizona Cardinals RB Chris Johnson may be a candidate for a contract extension because he has played well this season, according to general manager Steve Keim. Johnson signed a one-year deal with the team during the offseason.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson appears to have taken over the starting running back job and has rushed for at least 100 yards in two of the last three games. Johnson has become a weekly starting option in fantasy leagues and could be a solid option against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 6.

Sun, 11 Oct 2015 19:21:29 -0700

Arizona Cardinals RB Chris Johnson had 11 carries for 103 yards in a 42-17 win over the Detroit Lions in Week 5.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) cruised over 100 yards in the blowout, and even with Andre Ellington ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) back in the fold, Johnson received a bulk of the carries. For now, he is the Arizona back to own at FantasyScore.

Cardinals | David Johnson could see role reduced

Sat, 10 Oct 2015 16:38:51 -0700

Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson will see his role reduced if RB Andre Ellington (knee) plays well when he returns from injury and RB Chris Johnson continues to play well, head coach Bruce Arians said. "It's not hard because the young guy sits down" Arians said.

Fantasy Tip: Chris Johnson ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) was already receiving a majority of the carries with Ellington ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) sidelined, and now that Ellington is set to return, David Johnson ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) is going to fall to third in the pecking order and isn't worth using at FantasyScore.

Cardinals | Andre Ellington part of rotation

Sat, 10 Oct 2015 16:26:44 -0700

Arizona Cardinals RB Andre Ellington (knee) said he will be part of a rotation at running back with RB Chris Johnson and RB David Johnson when he returns against the Detroit Lions in Week 5, and Ellington said he feels good about the situation.

Fantasy Tip: Chris Johnson ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) has played well enough the last three weeks to continue to see carries alongside Ellington ($3,700, 7.4% of cap), but Ellington's work in the passing game should ensure he maintains a steady role in the offense. Given his cheap price tag, Ellington could make a decent source of cap relief at FantasyScore in Week 5, but it isn't a bad idea to let him have a game to regain his rhythm before using him.

Cardinals | David Johnson the odd-man out

Thu, 08 Oct 2015 17:11:33 -0700

Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson will take a seat with RB Andre Ellington (knee) expected to return to action in Week 5 against the Detroit Lions, according to head coach Bruce Arians. RB Chris Johnson will remain a big part of the game plan after he proved to be successful with Ellington injured. Johnson is currently fifth in rushing yards and is averaging 4.4 yards per carry. David Johnson had zero carries in Week 1 with the other two backs healthy. QB Carson Palmer has raved about Johnson and his pass-blocking abilities. Arians likes to spread the touches around between his runners, meaning it's unlikely that anyone sees 25 touches.

Fantasy Tip: The way Chris Johnson ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) has produced in Ellington's ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) absence, he should see the majority of touches this weekend. However, the return of Ellington makes him much less attractive in daily formats. This could be a frustrating backfield for fantasy owners as long as all three runners are healthy.

Cardinals | David Johnson to lose playing time

Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson will lose playing time with RB Andre Ellington (knee) on the mend. RB Chris Johnson figures to be the featured back with Ellington behind him. "It's not hard, because the young guy (David Johnson) sits down," head coach Bruce Arians said.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) is a midrange RB2 on FantasyScore against Detroit. Ellington ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) really isn't a good option this week as he kicks the rust off. David Johnson ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) is too highly priced to use in a limited role.

Cardinals | Chris Johnson almost retired

Wed, 07 Oct 2015 10:31:01 -0700

Arizona Cardinals RB Chris Johnson contemplated retirement after his right shoulder was wounded in a shooting during the offseason. Johnson didn't have use of his right hand for almost three months after the shooting. Johnson is averaging 19.3 carries per start and being utilized in the passing and running game.

Fantasy Tip: CJ2K ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) could start to lose carries with Andre Ellington (knee) on the mend, but he's still a solid option on FantasyScore this week. He faces a middling Detroit Lions run defense and is worth the RB2 look.

Cardinals | Chris Johnson highly productive

Wed, 07 Oct 2015 07:26:53 -0700

Arizona Cardinals RB Chris Johnson has 244 yards (193 rush, 51 receiving) from scrimmage with two touchdowns the last two weeks.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) could taper back this week with Andre Ellington (knee) close to returning. Detroit is in the middle of the pack as far as defending RBs this year, and CJ2K remains a midrange flex option on FantasyScore.

Cardinals | Arizona offensive weapons thriving

Tue, 06 Oct 2015 15:13:13 -0700

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald leads the league in touchdown catches (five) and is third in receiving yards (432) through four games this year. QB Carson Palmer is second in touchdown passes (10) to Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (11). RB Chris Johnson is ranked fifth in the NFL with 302 rushing yards, and he's averaging 4.4 yards per carry.

Fantasy Tip: The Detroit Lions, Arizona's Week 5 opponent, is allowing the sixth-most fantasy points to quarterbacks (23.6) and seventh-most point-per-reception points to receivers (40.7) per game this year, making Palmer ($8,200, 16.4% of cap) and Fitzgerald ($7,200, 14.4% of cap) fine daily picks this weekend. Johnson's ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) outlook is a little more cloudy with Andre Ellington possibly returning.

Cardinals | Chris Johnson delivers again

Sun, 04 Oct 2015 20:33:39 -0700

Arizona Cardinals RB Chris Johnson had 16 carries for 83 yards and three catches for 11 yards in a 24-22 loss to the St. Louis Rams in Week 4.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson ($5,100, 10.2% of cap) has been solid since taking over for Andre Ellington, topping 70 yards in three straight games. He has probably earned himself some carries even after Ellington returns, but Johnson is only worth using at FantasyScore while he has the backfield to himself.

Cardinals | Chris Johnson has earned more reps

Tue, 29 Sep 2015 20:15:35 -0700

Arizona Cardinals RB Chris Johnson will remain as a "15-20 touch" player, even with RB Andre Ellington (knee) set to return in Week 4, head coach Bruce Arians said Tuesday, Sept. 29.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) has carved out a nice role for himself in the Arizona offense, and he is a solid low-end RB2 or flex play in FantasyScore.

Cardinals | Chris Johnson blows up in blowout

Sun, 27 Sep 2015 22:51:10 -0700

Arizona Cardinals RB Chris Johnson ran 22 times for 110 yards and two touchdowns in the Week 3 win against the San Francisco 49ers. He also added a 40-yard reception while being targeted twice.

Fantasy Tip: It was vintage CJ2K ($4,000, 8.0% of cap), as he showed he still has plenty left in the tank. However, Andre Ellington (knee) continues to get better and it's only a matter of time before he is back and Johnson's FantasyScore value takes a hit.
