Cardinals | Chris Johnson quiet in Week 5

Sun, 08 Oct 2017 14:16:53 -0700

Arizona Cardinals RB Chris Johnson rushed for 21 yards on nine carries against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 5.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson received most of the carries during the game but was not able to do much on the ground. He probably will continue to be the starting running back but can be avoided in all leagues.

Cardinals | Chris Johnson does very little

Sun, 01 Oct 2017 20:21:12 -0700

Arizona Cardinals RB Chris Johnson rushed 13 times for 32 yards in Week 4 against the San Francisco 49ers and he added three receptions for 31 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson is hauling the majority of the mail with David Johnson on the shelf, but there haven't been very good results to this point. While he might be starting and seeing a lot of touches, he is barely worth using as a RB3 or flex option in deeper fantasy leagues.

Cardinals | Chris Johnson will remain starter

Tue, 26 Sep 2017 12:56:28 -0700

Arizona Cardinals RB Chris Johnson will continue to start in Arizona's backfield in Week 4 despite managing just 17 yards on 12 carries in Week 3.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson has only been back with the Cardinals for two games, so there could still be some rust he needs to shake off. Either way, Andre Ellington looks like the more promising Cardinals running back right now between Johnson, Kerwynn Williams and himself. Ellington deserves to be added at least in PPR leagues.

Cardinals | Chris Johnson stifled by Cowboys defense

Mon, 25 Sep 2017 21:51:13 -0700

Arizona Cardinals RB Chris Johnson managed only 17 rushing yards on 12 carries in the team's Week 3 game Monday, Sept. 25, against the Dallas Cowboys. He also added one reception for four yards.

Fantasy Tip: After an encouraging outing in his season debut a week ago, Johnson was terribly disappointing in his second game and to top it off, he also played considerably less than Andre Ellington. Arizona's running game situation is tough to trust right now, but if tonight is any indication, Ellington could be emerging as the new starter, which would kill all of Johnson's value.

Cardinals | Chris Johnson to see more work

Thu, 21 Sep 2017 18:25:36 -0700

Arizona Cardinals RB Chris Johnson will see more carries in Week 3 against the Dallas Cowboys than he did in Week 2, according to head coach Bruce Arians.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson already had more carries than Kerwynn Williams in Week 2, so Arians seems to be hinting that Johnson will lead the backfield in Week 3. Johnson should be owned in all leagues at this point. He is a flex candidate against Dallas and could emerge as a RB2 if he completely unseats Williams.

Cardinals | Chris Johnson leads ARI rushing attack

Sun, 17 Sep 2017 15:15:16 -0700

Arizona Cardinals RB Chris Johnson ran 11 times for 44 yards Sunday, Sept. 17, in a 16-13 win over the Indianapolis Colts.

Fantasy Tip: These numbers aren't impressive overall, but keep in mind Johnson was hastily re-signed once Arizona lost David Johnson for at least eight weeks. He needs time to grow back into the role, so keep an eye on Johnson's matchups and how he does before fully committing. Johnson will battle Kerwynn Williams for touches.

Cardinals | Chris Johnson expected to get work

Wed, 13 Sep 2017 20:53:29 -0700

Arizona Cardinals RB Chris Johnson is "expected to get carries" in the team's Week 2 game Sunday, Sept. 17, versus the Indianapolis Colts.

Fantasy Tip: While he's not a recommended play for any format this weekend, considering he's third on the depth chart, Johnson is still someone worth watching considering how well he fared in his first go-around with the Cards. Remember, only two years ago in his first season in Arizona, Johnson had nearly 900 rushing yards in just 11 games before getting hurt, so he knows the system and could be capable of making an impact for fantasy clubs later on.

Cardinals | David Johnson officially goes to IR

Tue, 12 Sep 2017 13:50:19 -0700

Updating a previous report, Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson (wrist) was officially placed on the Reserve/Injured list Tuesday, Sept. 12. Free-agent RB Chris Johnson (Cardinals) was officially re-signed in a corresponding move.

Fantasy Tip: Even with Chris Johnson returning to the Cardinals, Kerwynn Williams is the running back to own with David Johnson on the shelf. Williams will split time with Andre Ellington and Johnson, but he took over duties for Johnson last week and should be one of the top waiver wire additions heading into Week 2. Chris Johnson is merely a speculative add in deeper leagues.

Cardinals | Chris Johnson returns to Arizona

Tue, 12 Sep 2017 10:11:02 -0700

Updating a previous report, free-agent RB Chris Johnson (Cardinals) agreed to terms with the Arizona Cardinals on Tuesday, Sept. 12.

Fantasy Tip: Considering Arizona kept Kerwynn Williams over him at final cuts, it's hard to see Johnson being fantasy-relevant in 2017. Expect Williams to lead a committee including Andre Ellington and Elijhaa Penny while David Johnson recovers from wrist surgery, which is expected to sideline him for two to three months.
