Lions | Justin Forsett busier in second game

Sun, 23 Oct 2016 17:40:18 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Justin Forsett rushed eight times for 33 yards in the Week 7 game against the Washington Redskins, and he added two receptions for 15 yards in his second game with the team.

Fantasy Tip: Forsett didn't do much in his first game with the team last week, and he likely wasn't terribly familiar with the playbook. He looked a lot more comfortable on his 10 touches, and he should be even more comfortable in Week 8 in Houston. Forsett isn't a bad bye-week fill-in, especially if the Dewayne Washington and Theo Riddick continue to miss time.

Lions | Justin Forsett stuck in neutral

Sun, 16 Oct 2016 20:31:52 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Justin Forsett rushed five times for just five yards in the Week 6 game against the Los Angeles Rams in his team debut. He was targeted once but did not have any catches.

Fantasy Tip: Forsett was recently picked up and likely has a limited knowledge of the playbook. He might be able to help out down the road, but for now he is worth nothing more than a reserve roster spot in deeper fantasy leagues.

Lions | Zenner, Forsett to split carries

Sat, 15 Oct 2016 22:28:53 -0700

Detroit Lions RBs Zach Zenner and Justin Forsett are set to split carries against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, Oct. 16, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Fantasy Tip: A one-two punch of Zenner and Forsett sounds like an excuse for Matthew Stafford to throw the ball about 50 times and maybe get Golden Tate some snaps out of the backfield. If you're desperate you can roll the dice on one of them -- Zenner's experience in the offense makes him the safer bet -- but this is a situation to avoid if you can.

Lions | Justin Forsett could play in Week 6

Sat, 15 Oct 2016 12:36:51 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Justin Forsett may receive some playing time in Week 6 even though he signed with the Lions earlier this week, according to head coach Jim Caldwell.

Fantasy Tip: Forsett likely would have a limited role if he is active for the game, so owners should avoid him for the time being.

Lions | Justin Forsett proving to be a quick study

Sat, 15 Oct 2016 09:41:51 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Justin Forsett has done "a good job picking things up", according to offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter, after signing with the team earlier this week.

Fantasy Tip: Forsett should be considered the favorite to lead this backfield in touches since Dwayne Washington will be playing hurt and Theo Riddick has already been ruled out. Whether that actually helps out fantasy owners or not is another story, as Detroit ranks 23rd in the league in rushing at 89.8 yards/game. Expect a pass-heavy game plan from Detroit this weekend, which is probably also how Forsett will generate a good chunk of whatever little fantasy value he provides.

Lions | Dwayne Washington likely the No. 2

Thu, 13 Oct 2016 07:31:54 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Dwayne Washington is likely to remain the No. 2 running back with RB Justin Forsett challenging to be the No. 3.

Fantasy Tip: Washington has a lot of promise, but he hasn't done much on the field. Theo Riddick should remain the most-used back because of his skills in the passing game, and Washington is an RB5 that should still be owned. Forsett is an option in deeper leagues, but he's not on the traditional radar yet.

Lions | Detroit signs Justin Forsett

Tue, 11 Oct 2016 22:08:38 -0700

Updating a previous report, free-agent RB Justin Forsett (Ravens) officially signed with the Detroit Lions Tuesday, Oct. 11.

Fantasy Tip: For now, assume Forsett was brought in as depth and will be third behind Theo Riddick and Dwayne Washington when both are healthy. Consider Forsett a possible stash candidate with a bump in PPR leagues, but don't plug him into your lineup until he shows some life in Motown.

Lions | Justin Forsett signing with Detroit

Tue, 11 Oct 2016 11:15:44 -0700

Free-agent RB Justin Forsett (Ravens) is signing an undisclosed deal with the Detroit Lions Tuesday, Oct. 11, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: The Lions are hurting at running back, so the Forsett addition makes sense. Unfortunately, Theo Riddick will still be the main man in Detroit's backfield, and Dwayne Washington will still be used when he's healthy again. Forsett is worth a speculative add with more value in PPR leagues, but starting him isn't advisable.

Lions | Justin Forsett scheduled to visit Detroit

Sun, 09 Oct 2016 06:53:35 -0700

Free-agent RB Justin Forsett (Ravens) is expected to visit the Detroit Lions Monday, Oct. 10, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: If signed, Forsett would presumably split carries with RBs Theo Roddick, Dwayne Washington and Zach Zenner, although it is uncertain how much playing time he would see. Regardless of who is in the backfield, fantasy owners would be best served avoiding the Detroit running game altogether.

Ravens | Justin Forsett's departure mutual

Tue, 04 Oct 2016 20:33:12 -0700

Updating a previous report, free-agent RB Justin Forsett's release from the Baltimore Ravens was a "mutual" decision, according to remarks made by Forsett on the team's official website.

Fantasy Tip: Forsett saw the writing on the wall in Baltimore and now hopes he can catch on with another team in need of backfield help. True optimists might wanna wait to see where he lands before cutting him loose, but those in standard leagues shouldn't feel obligated.

Ravens | Justin Forsett cut

Tue, 04 Oct 2016 08:36:53 -0700

Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett has been informed he has been cut Tuesday, Oct. 4.

Fantasy Tip: Forsett was inactive last week, and the team has decided to go young with Kenneth Dixon (knee) coming back and Terrance West leading the charge. West had a 21-113-1 performance against a decent Oakland Raiders defense last week, and he's a low-end RB2 against the Washington Redskins in Week 5.

Ravens | Justin Forsett's roster spot in question

Mon, 03 Oct 2016 14:50:51 -0700

Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett was inactive in Week 4 and head coach John Harbaugh was noncommittal on Forsett's roster spot going forward. "We'll see how it plays out," Harbaugh said.

Fantasy Tip: Terrance West broke out in Week 4 to the tune of 113 yards and a touchdown with Forsett inactive. It's hard to see Forsett being the primary running back in Baltimore again this year, especially with Kenneth Dixon set to return soon. Whoever starts for Baltimore next week will have a tremendous matchup against a Washington Redskins defense that has surrendered the most rushing yards to the position (530) so far this year, not to mention seven touchdowns.

Ravens | HC explains Justin Forsett benching

Sun, 02 Oct 2016 19:46:15 -0700

Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett was a healthy inactive for the Week 4 game against the Oakland Raiders. Head coach John Harbaugh explained the move after the game. "We were looking for a spark, I guess, more than anything. It's nothing against Justin Forsett, for sure," Harbaugh said Sunday, Oct. 2.

Fantasy Tip: West certainly provided a spark, rolling for a career-high 113 yards, so this setup might continue into Week 5. If you normally rely upon Forsett it's a good idea to one, scoop up West, and two, reserve Forsett or drop him if you need the roster spot.

Ravens | Justin Forsett sitting out

Sun, 02 Oct 2016 09:25:24 -0700

Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett has been declared inactive for the team's Week 4 game.

Fantasy Tip: Terrance West will start at running back with Javorius Allen also receiving some playing time. West should be a flex option in fantasy leagues but has not done enough this season to be a strong option for owners.

Ravens | Baltimore's Week 4 inactives

Sun, 02 Oct 2016 08:51:17 -0700

Ravens | Terrance West expected to start

Sun, 02 Oct 2016 06:27:44 -0700

Confirming a previous report, Baltimore Ravens RB Terrance West is expected to start Week 4's game against the Oakland Raiders over RB Justin Forsett.

Fantasy Tip: West should be viewed as nothing more than a desperation flex play in the majority of fantasy formats this afternoon. Regardless of how well he performs, rookie RB Kenneth Dixon (knee) is likely to see a good chunk of the playing time when he returns to action in Week 5.

Ravens | Terrance West could take over starting job

Sat, 01 Oct 2016 09:48:17 -0700

Baltimore Ravens RB Terrance West may get the nod to start over Justin Forsett in Week 4 against the Oakland Raiders, according to ESPN's Jamison Hensley.

Fantasy Tip: To be clear, Hensley only suggests he wouldn't be surprised if West becomes a starter this week. Regardless, it's a low-upside and short-term situation with rookie Kenneth Dixon expected to make his debut next week. West is a desperation flex play in most leagues regardless this week, although he could make sense for owners who need a bye-week replacement for Eddie Lacy or Ryan Mathews.

Ravens | Justin Forsett splits the load

Sun, 11 Sep 2016 21:53:03 -0700

Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett carried 10 times for 41 yards in Week 1 against the Buffalo Bills, and he added three receptions for 15 yards. He split the rushing load with RB Terrance West, who had 12 runs for 32 yards and two grabs for six yards.

Fantasy Tip: Fantasy owners hate to see a split or timeshare, as it's hard to figure out who the top dog will be. For now it's a good idea in fantasy leagues to avoid the Baltimore running backs completely.

Ravens | Justin Forsett rushes for 41 yards

Sun, 11 Sep 2016 14:09:26 -0700

Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett rushed for 41 yards on 10 carries against the Buffalo Bills in Week 1. He also caught three passes for 15 yards during the game.

Fantasy Tip: Forsett received the start in Week 1 but shared snaps with Terrance West. The Ravens likely will continue to split the running back reps between two or three running backs, which hurts the fantasy value of Forsett. Forsett could be a flex option at this point but is not a weekly option.

Ravens | Baltimore confirms RB committee

Thu, 08 Sep 2016 21:55:25 -0700

Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett, RB Terrance West and RB Javorius Allen will all see playing time at some point against the Buffalo Bills in Week 1, offensive coordinator Marc Trestman said Thursday, Sept. 8.

Fantasy Tip: Baltimore's backfield is a nightmare for fantasy owners, and the situation will only become worse when Kenneth Dixon returns from injury. Forsett is probably the best bet to lead the way for now, but West, Allen and Dixon are worth stashing in case one emerges as the lead back.

Ravens | Justin Forsett says he will start

Thu, 08 Sep 2016 09:07:29 -0700

Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett said he will start in Week 1 against the Buffalo Bills and is ready for 20 to 25 carries if needed. Forsett may be part of a committee at the position because head coach John Harbaugh said he would like to get all of the running backs involved.

Fantasy Tip: Forsett probably will receive a majority of the carries against the Bills, but Terrance West and Javorius Allen should also receive playing time. Forsett can be a flex option in most fantasy leagues, but he may lose some value as the season goes on.

Ravens | Justin Forsett financials

Tue, 06 Sep 2016 19:51:25 -0700

Updating a previous post, Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett will earn $6 million over the course of a two-year contract. Forsett will earn a $100,000 bonus if he eclipses his 2015 rushing yard total of 641 yards.

Ravens | Justin Forsett re-ups with Ravens

Mon, 05 Sep 2016 08:08:34 -0700

Free-agent RB Justin Forsett (Ravens) has agreed to re-sign with the Baltimore Ravens Monday, Sept. 5. Terms weren't disclosed.

Fantasy Tip: Forsett is expected to have a big role in Week 1. He's a low-end RB2, but he has bust potential that makes him a better RB3.

Ravens | Justin Forsett to play big role?

Sun, 04 Sep 2016 20:39:08 -0700

Free-agent RB Justin Forsett (Ravens) is expected to re-sign with the Baltimore Ravens and play a significant role on offense in Week 1 against the Buffalo Bills.

Fantasy Tip: After being cut a couple of days ago, it sounds like Forsett will be back and in a big way. Scoop him up if a fellow owner cut him loose.

Ravens | Justin Forsett to be brought back?

Sat, 03 Sep 2016 21:40:52 -0700

Updating a previous report, the Baltimore Ravens could re-sign newly released RB Justin Forsett later this week, according to ESPN's Jamison Hensley.

Fantasy Tip: Baltimore's backfield is in a state of flux, and if the Ravens do re-sign Forsett it would immediately push the likes of Javorius Allen, Terrance West and Kenneth Dixon right back down the depth chart. Your best move is to wait for clarity, though if someone in your league dropped Forsett it might be worth claiming him ASAP.

Ravens | Justin Forsett released

Sat, 03 Sep 2016 13:07:46 -0700

Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett was released Saturday, Sept. 3, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Javorius Allen and Terrance West probably will share carries at the start of the season with Forsett no longer on the team. Allen can be a No. 2 or No. 3 running back in most fantasy leagues, while West should be a decent No. 3 back. Kenneth Dixon could see more carries as the season goes on and could be a late-round option in leagues because of his potential.

Ravens | Baltimore set for committee backfield?

Wed, 24 Aug 2016 10:23:51 -0700

Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett is still in line to be the starting running back, in the opinion of ESPN's Jamison Hensley, but RBs Javorius Allen and Kenneth Dixon project to share third-down work with RB Terrance West serving as a short-yardage back in the red zone.

Fantasy Tip: As an undersized journeyman, Forsett's reign atop the depth chart could be short lived, and the potential of a multi-faceted rushing attack isn't ideal for his fantasy stock. West presents nice value as a late-round flier in standard and touchdown-heavy settings, whereas Allen presents similar potential in PPR leagues. Dixon is likely the most talented back of the quartet, but expect him to have to bide his time for an opportunity in 2016. The rookie is nothing more than a stash option at this point.

Ravens | Justin Forsett looks great

Tue, 09 Aug 2016 10:31:03 -0700

Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett looks like he did during his 2014 breakout campaign, according to Ravens head coach John Harbaugh. "I see the same running back we had two years ago, in terms of his speed, his explosiveness, his vision," Harbaugh said. "He really looks good. I know there's a lot of talk about the other guys, but he's playing really well."

Fantasy Tip: Can you trust the one-hit wonder at 30 years old? Forsett is a risky RB2 in PPR leagues and no better than a third in standard formats. Identifying his backup is a challenge, and the stable of backs is likely to produce someone to eat into his workload.

Ravens | Justin Forsett expects to be bell cow

Wed, 27 Jul 2016 19:01:41 -0700

Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett expects to hang onto the starting job and do the bulk of the work at the running back position ahead of RBs Javorius Allen, Kenneth Dixon, Lorenzo Taliaferro and Terrance West. The team also has RB Trent Richardson (knee) competing for a roster spot. While Forsett might be optimistic, he is 31 and the team is leaning toward reducing his carries.

Fantasy Tip: The Ravens are very deep at the running back position, but Forsett plans on being the bell cow and it's hard to bet against him. However, it is a good idea to nab Buck Allen as a handcuff just to be on the safe side.

Ravens | Justin Forsett the lead back

Tue, 12 Jul 2016 14:33:36 -0700

Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett is still the "clear lead dog" in the Ravens' backfield, according to Ryan Mink of baltimoreravens.com. The starting job is Forsett's to lose, with RBs Javorius Allen, Kenneth Dixon, Lorenzo Taliaferro, Terrance West and Trent Richardson lurking behind him.

Fantasy Tip: Baltimore is deep at running back, but Forsett is a proven success and should be the lead back as long as he's healthy. Allen and Dixon are probably the most likely to compete for playing time, and both are worth late-round picks in traditional fantasy leagues. Forsett has more value in PPR leagues and should be viewed as an RB3 in such formats.

Ravens | Three BAL RBs up for just one spot?

Tue, 14 Jun 2016 22:00:28 -0700

Baltimore Ravens RB Lorenzo Taliaferro might be competing with RB Terrance West and RB Trent Richardson for the No. 4 spot on the depth chart behind RBs Justin Forsett, Javorius Allen and Kenneth Dixon.

Fantasy Tip: Taliaferro could have a leg up in the competition with West and Richardson only because he is a third-year back with more knowledge of the playbook. However, whomever wins the battle for the No. 4 job still has a long way to go before having much in the way of fantasy appeal.

Ravens | Justin Forsett to have X-rays next week

Tue, 05 Apr 2016 10:01:41 -0700

Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett (arm), who is already lifting weights again, plans to get X-rays next week to determine how far along he is in his recovery from a broken arm. "I'm excited to get back this season," Forsett said. "Big expectations for myself and I'm just ready to get back at it and be 100%."

Fantasy Tip: Forsett will enter 2016 as the team's primary ball carrier, but he has plenty of competition behind him in Terrance West, Javorius Allen and Lorenzo Taliaferro. Until something changes, though, view Forsett as a solid RB2 with more value in point-per-reception formats.

Ravens | Justin Forsett progressing

Sat, 02 Apr 2016 12:56:40 -0700

Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett (arm) is continuing to make good progress in his recovery from a broken arm last season and has already begun lifting weights.

Fantasy Tip: Forsett will be Baltimore's primary running back again next season, assuming he is fully healthy when the regular season starts. He will also split time with Lorenzo Taliaferro, Javorius Allen and Terrance West, though, but he should still be in RB2 territory with added value in PPR leagues.

Ravens | Justin Forsett will return

Thu, 25 Feb 2016 09:38:35 -0800

Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett (forearm) will remain with the Ravens in 2016, according to head coach John Harbaugh. Harbaugh also said the best running back will get the brunt of the carries.

Fantasy Tip: That means Forsett will have competition from Javorius Allen and/or a potential addition. Forsett is a risky selection this year as an RB2.

Ravens | Justin Forsett almost 100%

Thu, 28 Jan 2016 19:30:08 -0800

Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett (forearm) said he should be 100% in "a couple of weeks."

Fantasy Tip: Forsett was having a mediocre 2015 season prior to breaking his arm, and with Javorius Allen showing some promise in his absence, there is a good chance a committee approach will be used in Baltimore's backfield in 2016.

Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett (forearm) was placed on Injured Reserve Friday, Nov. 27. DE Brent Urban (biceps) was activated from short-term Injured Reserve.

Fantasy Tip: Javorius Allen ($6,300, 12.6% of cap) has a good matchup against the Cleveland Browns and is a flex option worth consideration on FantasyScore.

Ravens | Justin Forsett in 2016 plans

Tue, 24 Nov 2015 07:16:28 -0800

Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett (forearm) remains part of the team's 2016 plans at the age of 31. "I would expect Justin back next year full-speed, ready to go," head coach John Harbaugh said. "He's under contract and a big part of what we're doing going forward." Forsett signed a three-year, $9 million deal with the Ravens this year, but only the $2.1 million signing bonus and his 2015 salary ($900,000) are guaranteed.

Fantasy Tip: Forsett finished with decent numbers despite being on a bad team. He ran 151 times for 641 yards (4.2 yards per rush) with two touchdowns. He also had 31 catches for 153 yards. He'll be an RB2 consideration in traditional drafts, but expect him to have competition in the backfield.

Ravens | Justin Forsett should be ready for '16

Mon, 23 Nov 2015 13:23:37 -0800

Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett (arm) should return for the offseason program in 2016, according to head coach John Harbaugh. There are no concerns for his long-term availability.

Fantasy Tip: Forsett will miss the rest of this season with a broken arm, giving Javorius Allen the starting reins at running back. If Allen is available in seasonal leagues, he's worth an immediate pickup.

Ravens | Justin Forsett out for season

Sun, 22 Nov 2015 13:46:09 -0800

Updating a previous report, Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett (forearm) will miss the rest of the season after he broke both bones in his forearm during the team's Week 11 game.

Fantasy Tip: Javorius Allen likely will receive most of the carries for the rest of the season. Allen has posted decent numbers in limited playing time this season and should be an attractive option if he is still available in leagues.

Sun, 22 Nov 2015 10:39:38 -0800

Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett (arm) suffered a broken right arm against the St. Louis Rams Sunday, Nov. 22, and is out for the game.

Fantasy Tip: Depending on the severity of the injury, Forsett could be out for the rest of the season. As long as he is out, Javorius Allen should start in his place and is worth an immediate pickup in seasonal leagues.

Ravens | Justin Forsett has mediocre outing

Sun, 15 Nov 2015 14:46:36 -0800

Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett had just 53 yards on 14 carries and 11 receiving yards in a 22-20 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, Nov. 15.

Fantasy Tip: Forsett ($7,000, 14.0% of cap) is way overpriced for someone who has just two touchdowns. Granted, he is the least of the Ravens' worries, but the running game has been stuck in neutral all season. Forsett has just two touchdowns, and the leading rusher on a team should have way more than that.

Ravens | Justin Forsett draws friendly matchup

Sat, 31 Oct 2015 20:41:37 -0700

Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett faces the San Diego Chargers in Week 8, and the Chargers are allowing the second-most rushing yards per game this season and a league-high 5.3 yards per carry.

Fantasy Tip: Forsett ($7,000, 14.0% of cap) has been up and down this year, but you should feel comfortable using him at FantasyScore in Week 8 against San Diego's porous run defense.

Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett ran 12 times for 36 yards and a touchdown in the Week 7 game against the Arizona Cardinals Monday, Oct. 26. He also had three receptions for eight yards on four targets.

Fantasy Tip: Forsett ($7,000, 14.0% of cap) had two rushing touchdowns over the past three games, although he has totaled just 98 rushing yards. He remains a decent RB2 or flex FantasyScore play despite the decrease in yardage recently.

Fantasy Tip: Forsett ($7,000, 14.0% of cap) was considered questionable for the Week 6 game because of an ankle injury but appears to be recovered from the injury. Forsett should see a majority of the caries during the game and could be a solid starting option.

Fantasy Tip: It's likely just a maintenance day for Forsett ($7,000, 14.0% of cap), who has a tough matchup against the Arizona Cardinals on FantasyScore.

Ravens | Justin Forsett plays through pain

Sun, 18 Oct 2015 17:56:53 -0700

Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett (ankle) had 17 catches for 62 yards and seven catches for 39 yards in a 25-20 loss to the San Francisco 49ers in Week 6.

Fantasy Tip: Forsett ($6,900, 13.8% of cap) handled a heavy workload despite an ankle injury, so he should be good to go moving forward. That being said, matchup with a solid Arizona defense in Week 7 isnít ideal.
