Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan said he is trying to bulk up this offseason. "Heading into each offseason, I try and take two or three areas to really improve on," Ryan said. "This year, it was getting a little bit stronger in the weight rooms. So I've been working out pretty hard this offseason to try and put on a little bit of weight to get a little bit stronger and I think that'll help me out on the field. Also, I think we need to be more effective with some of our throws down the field and that's something that I've certainly worked on early this offseason. And I think a combination of those two things will help our success."

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan is 43-19 as a starter in four NFL season, but he is 0-2 in the playoffs. He'll meet the New York Giants in the Wild Card round Sunday, Jan. 8, looking for his first playoff win. "I know that we've had two postseason games prior to this," head coach Mike Smith said Wednesday, Jan. 4. "We haven't gotten the outcome we wanted. We are learning from those experiences. We're going to use those as growing experiences and we're looking forward to competing this week, and that's just not (Matt). That's Mike Smith, every member of our team."

After securing a big lead, Ryan was rested in favor of QB Chris Redman (illness). Ryan finished the season with a 92.2 QB rating, his best in four seasons as a pro.

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan completed 34 of 52 passes for 373 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in Week 16 against the New Orleans Saints Monday, Dec. 26. The 373 yards were actually a career high, surpassing the 351 yards he totaled in Week 10, also against the Saints. Ryan has six 300-yard games this season, including four in his past seven starts.
