Browns | Brian Hartline returns to practice

Thu, 21 Apr 2016 15:33:39 -0700

Cleveland Browns WR Brian Hartline (undisclosed) returned to practice Thursday, April 21, after not practicing Tuesday, April 19.

Fantasy Tip: Hartline may be the Browns' best wide receiver heading into 2016, and that's not good for the Browns. Unless Josh Gordon is reinstated later in the year, it's not really worth drafting any Cleveland wide receivers.

Browns | Brian Hartline placed on IR

Tue, 15 Dec 2015 12:51:30 -0800

Cleveland Browns WR Brian Hartline (collarbone) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Tuesday, Dec. 15, with a broken collarbone.

Fantasy Tip: Travis Benjamin ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) will remain the Browns’ No. 1 wide receiver with Hartline out. Marlon Moore ($2,000, 4.0%), Taylor Gabriel ($2,000, 4.0%) and Andrew Hawkins ($2,000, 4.0%) could see more targets in Hartline’s absence, but Benjamin and Gary Barnidge ($6,900, 13.8%) are still Cleveland’s top-two targets. None of them are worthwhile starts versus the Seattle Seahawks next week, however.

Browns | Brian Hartline to have surgery Tuesday

Mon, 14 Dec 2015 11:18:52 -0800

Updating a previous report, Cleveland Browns WR Brian Hartline (collarbone) will undergo surgery on his broken collarbone Tuesday, Dec. 15.

Fantasy Tip: With Hartline out for the rest of the season, Travis Benjamin will remain the Browns’ No. 1 wide receiver. Marlon Moore, Taylor Gabriel and Andrew Hawkins should see more playing time in Hartline’s absence, but Benjamin and Gary Barnidge are still Cleveland’s top-two targets. None of them are worthwhile starts versus the Seattle Seahawks next week, however.

Browns | Brian Hartline breaks collarbone

Mon, 14 Dec 2015 10:16:31 -0800

Cleveland Browns WR Brian Hartline (collarbone) had 107 yards receiving on eight catches in Week 14 but suffered a season-ending injury with a broken collarbone that will need surgery.

Fantasy Tip: Johnny Manziel will be forced to rely more on Travis Benjamin and Gary Barnidge mainly, but guys like Taylor Gabriel, Andrew Hawkins or Dwayne Bowe could see more time, as well. Either way, none of the aerial weapons for Cleveland will be very attractive against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 15.

Browns | Brian Hartline out for the game

Sun, 13 Dec 2015 12:28:30 -0800

Cleveland Browns WR Brian Hartline (shoulder) suffered a shoulder injury during the team's Week 14 game and will not return.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to check after the game to receive an update on Hartline's status. Taylor Gabriel could receive a bigger role in the passing game if Hartline is out for a while but is not a great fantasy option.

Browns | Brian Hartline active Sunday

Sun, 13 Dec 2015 09:02:27 -0800

Cleveland Browns WR Brian Hartline (hip) is active for Week 14's game against the San Francisco 49ers.

Fantasy Tip: Hartline ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) had been listed as questionable on the injury report and was limited in practice all week. He had at least six receptions and 74 receiving yards in each of his last three games, so FantasyScore owners looking for a sleeper pick may want to consider using him against a poor San Francisco secondary.

Browns | Three Cleveland WRs questionable

Fri, 11 Dec 2015 16:43:46 -0800

Cleveland Browns WRs Travis Benjamin (shoulder), Taylor Gabriel (concussion) and Brian Hartline (hip) are listed as questionable for the Week 14 game against the San Francisco 49ers. Benjamin and Hartline were limited during practice, while Gabriel fully participated in practice.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to check to see which receivers will be active for the game. Benjamin ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) is the best fantasy option among the Browns receivers this season and could be a starting option if he is active. Owners probably can pass on Gabriel ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) and Hartline ($2,000, 4.0% of cap).

Browns | Three Browns receivers limited

Thu, 10 Dec 2015 16:21:03 -0800

Cleveland Browns WRs Travis Benjamin (shoulder), Taylor Gabriel (concussion) and Brian Hartline (hip) were all limited in practice Thursday, Dec. 10.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) says he'll play against the San Francisco 49ers, and it's certainly a good matchup for receivers. Benjamin and Johnny Manziel have developed a deep connection when they've worked together. Gabriel ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) and Hartline ($2,000) are both desperation sleeper picks on FantasyScore.

Browns | Brian Hartline listed as limited

Wed, 09 Dec 2015 17:46:14 -0800

Cleveland Browns WR Brian Hartline (hip) was limited during practice Wednesday, Dec. 9.

Fantasy Tip: Hartline ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) has become more involved in the passing game recently and has recorded at least six receptions and 74 yards in each of his last three games. Hartline may not be the best option for owners, but could be a cheap option on FantasyScore for owners looking to save some money.

Browns | Brian Hartline busy on MNF

Mon, 30 Nov 2015 21:53:00 -0800

Cleveland Browns WR Brian Hartline racked up eight receptions for 74 yards in the Week 12 game against the Baltimore Ravens. He was targeted 12 times in the loss.

Fantasy Tip: Hartline was a busy beaver Monday, and he was especially helpful to those in deeper fantasy formats which reward points per reception (PPR).

Browns | Three Browns listed as probable

Fri, 13 Nov 2015 15:05:35 -0800

Cleveland Browns WRs Brian Hartline (concussion), Andrew Hawkins (concussion) and QB Johnny Manziel (elbow) all practiced in full Friday, Nov. 13, and are probable to face the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 10.

Fantasy Tip: With Manziel ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) expected to make his second straight start, you should look to downgrade both Hartline ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) and Hawkins ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) in all formats. Stay away from this situation if you can.

Browns | Brian Hartline, Andrew Hawkins practice

Thu, 12 Nov 2015 15:25:44 -0800

Cleveland Browns WR Brian Hartline (concussion) and WR Andrew Hawkins (concussion) fully participated in practice Thursday, Nov. 12.

Fantasy Tip: Hartline ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) and Hawkins ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) appear to be on track to play against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 10. Hawkins may have a little more fantasy value since he has been more consistent but neither player is a great fantasy option.

Browns | Three Browns practice in full

Wed, 11 Nov 2015 16:07:13 -0800

Cleveland Browns WRs Brian Hartline (concussion) and Andrew Hawkins (concussion) and QB Johnny Manziel (elbow) all practiced in full Wednesday, Nov. 11.

Fantasy Tip: Cleveland's quarterback situation is still in flex entering the game against the Pittsburgh Steelers this weekend, leaving Hartline ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) and Hawkins ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) as unattractive daily options. Manziel ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) could see another start if Josh McCown isn't healthy enough, but after another shaky performance last week, McCown shouldn't be on anyone's daily radar should he start again.

Browns | Brian Hartline, Andrew Hawkins cleared

Tue, 10 Nov 2015 13:18:26 -0800

Cleveland Browns WRs Brian Hartline (concussion) and Andrew Hawkins (concussion) have both cleared the league's concussion protocol after sitting out in Week 9.

Fantasy Tip: That doesn't necessarily mean that Hartline ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) and Hawkins ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) will be playing again this weekend yet, and it's even more risky to use them in any fantasy format with Josh McCown (ribs) still up in the air against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Browns | Thursday inactives for Browns

Thu, 05 Nov 2015 16:10:13 -0800

Browns | Three Browns won't play Thursday

Wed, 04 Nov 2015 15:07:37 -0800

Cleveland Browns QB Josh McCown (shoulder, ribs), WR Brian Hartline (concussion) and WR Andrew Hawkins (concussion) have been ruled out for Week 9 against the Cincinnati Bengals Thursday, Nov. 5. All three players missed practice Wednesday, Nov. 4.

Fantasy Tip: Johnny Manziel ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) will start on a short week against an undefeated squad on the road. That doesn't sound like a recipe for success for Cleveland's offensive skill players. Travis Benjamin ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) should probably be the only Browns player you consider in a flex spot on FantasyScore because of his chemistry with Manziel this year.

Browns | Two Browns receivers likely out

Wed, 04 Nov 2015 10:42:42 -0800

Cleveland Browns WR Brian Hartline (concussion) and WR Andrew Hawkins (concussion) are in the concussion protocol and unlikely to play Thursday, Nov. 5.

Fantasy Tip: Gary Barnidge's ($7,300, 14.6% of cap) outlook elevates a bit with the thin receiving corps. His price tag just really gives us pause given the lack of consistency on offense. Travis Benjamin ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) is a so-so flex option against the Miami Dolphins.

Browns | Tuesday practice report for Week 9

Tue, 03 Nov 2015 19:07:11 -0800

Cleveland Browns CB Joe Haden (concussion, ankle), WR Brian Hartline (concussion), WR Andrew Hawkins (concussion), TE Rob Housler (hamstring), CB Jordan Poyer (shoulder) and SS Donte Whitner (concussion) were each unable to practice Tuesday, Nov. 3. FS Tashaun Gipson (ankle) was a limited participant, as were LBs Nate Orchard (shoulder) and Craig Robertson (ankle).

Browns | Three Browns in concussion protocol

Tue, 03 Nov 2015 14:51:41 -0800

Cleveland Browns CB Joe Haden (concussion), S Donte Whitner (concussion) and WR Brian Hartline (concussion) are all going through the league's concussion protocol and aren't expected to play in Week 8 against the Cincinnati Bengals Thursday, Nov. 5.

Fantasy Tip: On a short week it's tough for any player to receive clearance through the league's concussion protocol. With Johnny Manziel expected to start against the Bengals, Travis Benjamin ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) is probably the only Browns offensive player worth considering as a flex play on FantasyScore. Benjamin has developed considerable chemistry with Johnny Football on the deep ball.

Browns | Three Browns miss practice

Mon, 02 Nov 2015 16:26:59 -0800

Cleveland Browns WRs Brian Hartline (concussion) and Andrew Hawkins (concussion) and QB Josh McCown (shoulder, ribs) did not participate in practice Monday, Nov. 2. However, the Browns didn't actually practice Monday, so the reports are an estimation.

Fantasy Tip: The Browns face the Cincinnati Bengals and a tough defense on a short week this Thursday, so none of this trio should be considered very safe on FantasyScore, especially the receivers, who'll need clearance quickly in order to play.

Browns | Brian Hartline likely will play

Fri, 16 Oct 2015 15:03:55 -0700

Cleveland Browns WR Brian Hartline (thigh) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 16, and is listed as probable for the Week 6 game against the Denver Broncos.

Fantasy Tip: Hartline ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) should see his normal workload against the Broncos this week. He has caught only two passes for 12 yards in the last two weeks and is not a great option for owners on FantasyScore.

Browns | Full practice for Brian Hartline

Thu, 15 Oct 2015 16:22:28 -0700

Cleveland Browns WR Brian Hartline (thigh) practiced in full for the second straight day Thursday, Oct. 15.

Fantasy Tip: The Denver Broncos allow the second-fewest PPR points per game (23.9) to receivers this year, making Hartline ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) one to avoid this weekend.

Browns | Brian Hartline practices fully

Wed, 14 Oct 2015 15:00:03 -0700

Cleveland Browns WR Brian Hartline (thigh) participated fully in practice Wednesday, Oct. 14.

Fantasy Tip: Hartline ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) has done little this year except for one good game. Now he faces a Denver Broncos defense that has only allowed one touchdown to wide receivers. This isn't the week to consider starting Hartline.

Browns | Brian Hartline active

Sun, 11 Oct 2015 08:50:50 -0700

Cleveland Browns WR Brian Hartline (ribs, thigh) is officially active for the Week 5 game against the Baltimore Ravens.

Fantasy Tip: Hartline ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) should see his normal workload during the game but is not a great starting option for fantasy owners because has been productive in only one of the four games this season.

Browns | Brian Hartline likely will play

Sun, 11 Oct 2015 07:41:38 -0700

Cleveland Browns WR Brian Hartline (thigh, ribs) is expected to play in the Week 5 game against the Baltimore Ravens.

Fantasy Tip: Hartline ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) had one terrific performance in Week 3 when he caught five passes for 96 yards but has posted only 27 yards in the other three games. Owners probably should be able to find other options to use.

Browns | Brian Hartine's status in question

Fri, 09 Oct 2015 12:37:08 -0700

Cleveland Browns WR Brian Hartline (ribs, thigh) was limited during practice Friday, Oct. 9, and is listed as questionable for the Week 5 game against the Baltimore Ravens.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to check the inactive list to find out Hartline's ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) status for the game. Hartline has not done a lot during the first four games of the season and probably should not be a starting option even if he is active.

Browns | No practice for Brian Hartline

Thu, 08 Oct 2015 14:24:41 -0700

Cleveland Browns WR Brian Hartline (ribs, thigh) did not practice Thursday, Oct. 8.

Fantasy Tip: Hartline ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) was injured in Week 4, so these injuries are just a carry-over from last week. His status is uncertain at this point, so look for any updates on him this weekend. Hartline hasn't been very reliable this year, however, so avoiding him might be wise.

Browns | Brian Hartline posts 96 yards

Sun, 27 Sep 2015 18:45:42 -0700

Cleveland Browns WR Brian Hartline hauled in five receptions for 96 yards in the Week 3 game against the Oakland Raiders. He was targeted seven times.

Fantasy Tip: Hartline ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) had his most productive day as a member of the Cleveland Browns, but he needs to be do this on a more consistent basis before re-emerging as a useful option in FantasyScore.

Browns | Brian Hartline does little in debut

Sun, 13 Sep 2015 19:19:20 -0700

Cleveland Browns WR Brian Hartline posted two receptions for just 20 yards in his team debut in Week 1 against the New York Jets.

Fantasy Tip: Hartline ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) will see plenty of snaps in Cleveland, but even though he'll see plenty of the field he is not an attractive FantasyScore option going forward.

Browns | Brian Hartline misses practice

Tue, 01 Sep 2015 19:57:04 -0700

Cleveland Browns WR Brian Hartline (foot) missed practice Tuesday, Sept. 1, due to an undisclosed injury. "Then Brian I think just got stepped on so it was just something that we wanted to go ahead and rest him," head coach Mike Pettine said.

Fantasy Tip: Hartline is likely to start opposite Dwayne Bowe when the regular season starts, but he is worth nothing more than a late-round flier in fantasy leagues of 12 or more teams.

Browns | Brian Hartline to be Browns' best WR?

Wed, 12 Aug 2015 15:16:33 -0700

Cleveland Browns WR Brian Hartline could end up as the Browns' leading wide receiver, in the opinion of ESPNCleveland.com's Tony Grossi.

Fantasy Tip: Hartline will primarily be competing with Dwayne Bowe and Andrew Hawkins for top receiver on the Browns. A lot depends on who can stay on the field. Nevertheless, Hartline shouldn't be considered more than a WR5.

Browns | Brian Hartline contract update

Mon, 09 Mar 2015 17:22:24 -0700

Updating a previous report, Cleveland Browns WR Brian Hartline agreed to a two-year deal worth $6 million.

Fantasy Tip: Hartline did not have a big role in the passing game for the Miami Dolphins this past season but could have a bigger role with the Browns. Owners should consider Hartline as no better than a No. 3 fantasy wide receiver in drafts next season.

Browns | Brian Hartline signing with Cleveland

Mon, 09 Mar 2015 17:11:33 -0700

Free-agent WR Brian Hartline (Dolphins) has agreed to terms with the Cleveland Browns. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Fantasy Tip: Hartline has a chance to be one of the starting wide receivers for the Browns next season. Hartline saw a big dip in his production this past season and finished with only 39 catches and 474 receiving yards. Hartline should not been seen as more than a No. 3 wide receiver on fantasy team next season and a later-round draft choice.

Chiefs | KC interested in Brian Hartline

Fri, 06 Mar 2015 14:41:46 -0800

Free-agent WR Brian Hartline (Dolphins) is attracting interest from the Kansas City Chiefs.

Fantasy Tip: Hartline's 2015 fantasy value will depend on where he lands in free agency. The Chiefs are desperate for wide receivers after not having a single wideout touchdown in 2014. Hartline's production dropped significantly last year, as he had just 39 catches for 474 yards and two touchdowns after reaching 1,000 yards in the previous two seasons. Hartline would have a low fantasy ceiling in KC, and we wouldn't be attractive as anything more than a WR4, most likely.

Patriots | NE has interest in Brian Hartline

Fri, 06 Mar 2015 04:42:13 -0800

Free-agent WR Brian Hartline (Dolphins) has interest from the New England Patriots, but no meeting has been set up.

Fantasy Tip: Now this would be interesting, as the Patriots are perhaps Miami's most hated division rival. Hartline has interest from other suitors, and his future fantasy value will depend on what team takes a chance on him. He could project as a WR2 or WR3 in most leagues.

Texans | Brian Hartline visiting Houston

Thu, 05 Mar 2015 08:14:10 -0800

Dolphins | Miami interested in re-signing Brian Hartline

Wed, 04 Mar 2015 16:18:03 -0800

Free-agent WR Brian Hartline (Dolphins) could return to the Miami Dolphins, as they remain interested in bringing him back. However, he's already had meetings with the Cleveland Browns and Chicago Bears, and he's expected to make a decision soon.

Fantasy Tip: It's hard to see the Dolphins retaining Hartline after cutting him, especially since he seems to be getting plenty of interest around the league. Hartline could be a decent WR4 for fantasy football owners, depending on where he lands.

Free-agent WR Brian Hartline (Dolphins) will visit the Chicago Bears Wednesday, March 4. He could decide between the Bears and the Cleveland Browns within 24 hours.

Dolphins | Brian Hartline cut by Miami

Fri, 27 Feb 2015 07:26:04 -0800

Miami Dolphins WR Brian Hartline was released Friday, Feb. 27.

Fantasy Tip: Hartline followed two 1,000-yard seasons with a 39-474-2 stinker. Hartline can be a low-end PPR receiver if he lands in the right place. However, he has 298 career receptions and just 12 touchdowns.

Dolphins | Three Miami receivers could be cut

Wed, 25 Feb 2015 12:39:58 -0800

Miami Dolphins WRs Mike Wallace, Brian Hartline and Brandon Gibson could all be let go this offseason if contracts aren't restructured. Wallace, especially, likely won't take a paycut on the $9.85 million he's due next season. Hartline is due $5.9 million but could restructure this offseason. Gibson isn't believed to be worth the $3.225 million he's due, so he could also be gone.

Fantasy Tip: Hartline wasn't really more than a WR3 in point-per-reception leagues, and Gibson was too dependent on touchdowns. Wallace has WR2 potential, but has been too unhappy in Miami and even benched himself in the last game of the 2014 season. Keep tabs on this situation as the offseason progresses.

Dolphins | Brian Hartline costly in 2015

Tue, 24 Feb 2015 23:02:41 -0800

Miami Dolphins WR Brian Hartline has not been informed of his status for 2015, but he has a current cap number of $7.3 million.

Fantasy Tip: It's hard to believe the Dolphins would pay Hartline that kind of money when a cheaper, and similar, replacement can likely be had. Wherever he ends up in 2015, he is only worth using in deeper fantasy formats.

Dolphins | Can clear $40 million in cap space

Tue, 27 Jan 2015 16:27:50 -0800

The Miami Dolphins will be able to clear $40 million in cap space in order to get under the projected $140-142 million cap for 2015. Either WR Mike Wallace or WR Brian Hartline will likely be named one of the two pre-June 1 cuts, the difference between cutting one or the other is $950,000. Hartline could also be asked to restructure his contract. LB Dannell Ellerbe's impending release will clear $8.45 million. Even if Wallace remains with the Dolphins for 2015, he'll likely be cut before the 2016 season when he's due $12.5 million in base salary and bonuses.

Dolphins | Mike Wallace, Brian Hartline probable

Fri, 05 Dec 2014 13:40:44 -0800

Miami Dolphins WRs Mike Wallace (chest) and Brian Hartline (knee) were both limited in practice Friday, Dec. 5, but are probable for Week 14 against the Baltimore Ravens.

Fantasy Tip: Wallace ($5,800) is a no-brainer start at FantasyScore this week against the Ravens, who allow the most average fantasy points to wideouts this season. Hartline ($3,000) has seen his role decrease because of the emergence of Jarvis Landry, but Hartline could be a deep sleeper this weekend.

Miami Dolphins WR Brian Hartline (knee) was limited in practice Thursday, Dec. 4.

Fantasy Tip: While Hartline is cheap on FantasyScore at $3,000, he hasn't done much this year to warrant plugging into any lineup. It's probably best to look elsewhere at wide receiver, despite a favorable matchup.

Wed, 03 Dec 2014 09:15:37 -0800

Miami Dolphins WR Brian Hartline (knee) is dealing with a bruised knee and hopes to play in Week 14.

Fantasy Tip: Owners should see what he is able to do during practice this week before deciding on their lineup. Hartline has not been much of a factor in the team's passing game for most of the season and only has one touchdown catch but will be facing a Baltimore Ravens defense that has struggled against opposing wide receivers this season. Hartline only costs $3,000 on FantasyScore, but owners may want to consider using better options this week.
