Chicago White Sox DH/1B Paul Konerko (neck) was scratched from the lineup Sunday, April 29, because of a stiff neck. OF Dayan Viciedo will serve as the designated hitter and OF Kosuke Fukudome will start in left field.

Chicago White Sox manager Robin Ventura indicated Saturday, April 7, that SS Eduardo Escobar and OF Kosuke Fukudome would get a start soon. "I am sure in Cleveland (Fukudome) and (Escobar) will get a start. I don't want guys sitting on the bench six or seven days, going home and not have played yet," Ventura said.

Chicago White Sox OF Kosuke Fukudome is likely to spell OFs Alex Rios and Dayan Viciedo, as the team uses him as a fourth outfielder to give the starters an occasional rest. He'll also see time as a defensive replacement and pinch runner.

The Chicago White Sox signed free-agent OF Kosuke Fukudome (Indians) to a one-year, $1 million deal with a $3.5 million club option for 2013. He'll make $500,000 this season with a $500,000 buyout for the option.

Cleveland Indians OF Kosuke Fukudome, who has been seeing time in right and center field, might see time in left field, according to manager Manny Acta. "We are going to have (Fukudome) take some balls in left field, just to have him give us the option to be in the lineup," Acta said. "We know that (OF Grady Sizemore) doesn't play every day going forward. But still, there are going to be some days that (OF Shin-Soo Choo) and Sizemore are going to be there, and if we want to keep Fukudome in the lineup, then he could play left for us."
