New Chicago Cubs manager Dale Sveum is expected to retain hitting coach Rudy Jaramillo through the 2012 season, along with bullpen coach Lester Strode and bench coach Pat Listach. Sources said first-base coach Bob Dernier and third-base coach Ivan DeJesus were informed they won't be back.

Chicago Cubs manager Mike Quade said he is hoping that the team's entire coaching staff returns for next year and left open the possibility that minor league manager Ryne Sandberg could remain with the team, according to ESPNChicago.com. Pitching coach Larry Rothschild, hitting coach Rudy Jaramillo and bullpen coach Lester Strode are definitely returning.

ESPNChicago.com's Bruce Levine reports the Chicago Cubs are expected to name Rudy Jaramillo their hitting coach Wednesday, Oct. 21. He has signed a three-year, $2.42 million contract.

Jon Heyman, of SI.com, reports the Chicago Cubs are in serious talks with free-agent hitting coach Rudy Jaramillo (Rangers), and it looks likely that the two sides will reach an agreement soon. It is believed that he will receive a multi-year contract for roughly $800,000 a year.

USA Today's Bob Nightengale reports that the Chicago Cubs could offer hitting coach Rudy Jaramillo (Rangers) a contract in excess of $600,000. He was the highest-paid hitting coach in the majors last season, earning $525,000.

The Daily Herald's Bruce Miles reports that the Chicago Cubs' pursuit of Rudy Jaramillo to be their new hitting coach does not mean that the team will attempt to mend fences with OF Milton Bradley for the 2010 season. Two or three teams may be interested in Bradley, but a trade does not appear to be on the horizon. Bradley had an All-Star season with the Texas Rangers in 2008, where Jaramillo was his hitting coach.
