The Sports Network reports Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald finished the 2005 season with a club record 103 catches, surpassing the old mark of 101 set by RB Larry Centers in 1995 and matched by WR Anquan Boldin in 2003.

The Associated Press reports St. Louis Rams RB Marshall Faulk set the NFL record for receiving yards by a running back during the Week 14 game. Faulk currently has 6,801 receiving yards, four more than the previous record holder, free agent FB Larry Centers.

The Houston Chronicle's Joseph Duarte reports New England Patriots FB Larry Centers may retire after the Super Bowl. "It's getting real close," Centers said. "I've been talking about retirement. If I sit back and say that this is my last game, it doesn't really sound right to me. It could easily be my last game as a football player, and if we come away with a win, it would be a great way to go out. What else could I ask for as a player? I've had personal accomplishments. The only thing I haven't had as a player is team success."

"I think the injury has healed," coach Bill Belichick said. "He has been away from football for six or seven weeks, there is a timing element that needs to be re-calibrated."

However, it's more likely to be later than sooner. Centers suffered a severe injury to his right knee in Week 6 against the New York Giants, albeit one that does not require surgery.

Dan Pires, of the New Bedford Standard-Times, reports New England Patriots FB Larry Centers (knee) remained out of practice Friday, Oct. 17. His knee injury appears to be severe and could sideline him for an extended period of time. Centers is still walking with the aid of a full knee brace and is noticeably favoring his right leg.

Centers injury may be more severe than first though. He was seen favoring his right leg while walking and wearing a full brace on the leg.

Michael Felger, of the Boston Herald, reports in discussing what the New England Patriots' running back rotation will look like, Patriots head coach Bill Belichick offered the strongest indication yet that Patriots RB Kevin Faulk is challenging Patriots RB Antowain Smith for playing time as the lead back. Belichick said it's hard to have two third down backs, meaning it will be either Patriots RB Larry Centers or Faulk in that role, "depending on what Kevin's role is on first and second down. There is some competition on third down. There's also some competition on first and second down."

He noted that Centers was headed back to Texas and they'll see how it progresses. "There's nothing done there. We talked. Updating previous reports, John Clayton reports for ESPN.com the reason that the Buffalo Bills released FB Larry Centers is that they wanted to increase the role of RB Travis Henry in the passing offense. Henry caught the same number of passes as Centers (43) last season. The Bills also like the development of FB Philip Crosby as a backup.

Len Pasquarelli for ESPN.com reports the Buffalo Bills and FB Larry Centers have agreed to a one-year contract extension that will keep him with the team through the 2003 season. The deal includes a $250,000 signing bonus. His 2002 base salary decreased by $50,000, but his cap charge this season increased $75,000. He will receive a base salary of $1.1 million in 2003 and will count $1.225 million against the cap that season.

According to BuffaloBills.com, Williams doesn't require players with more than 10 years of experience in the league to be present for workouts until June.
