Miami Marlins OF Giancarlo Stanton (groin) is planning to return from an Aug. 13 groin strain, which was supposed to keep him out the remainder of the year, before the end of the season, according to team president of baseball operations Michael Hill.

The Miami Marlins would prefer to trade for a starting pitcher that would be under team control for a few years and are not interested in giving up prospects for a rental player, according to president of baseball operations Michael Hill. The team is also interested in acquiring a second baseman with speed.

The Miami Marlins have promoted Michael Hill to president of baseball operations and Daniel Jennings to general manager. Hill had previously served as the team's vice-president and general manager, while Jennings had been the assistant general manager and vice-president of player development.
