Detroit Tigers manager Jim Leyland discussed a tentative lineup during his press conference Thursday, Jan. 26. He would have OF Austin Jackson leading off, followed by OF Brennan Boesch, 3B Miguel Cabrera, 1B Prince Fielder, OF Delmon Young, C Alex Avila, SS Jhonny Peralta, a combination of OF Andy Dirks, OF Clete Thomas and INF Don Kelly at designated hitter and 2B Ryan Raburn hitting ninth.

Detroit Tigers hitting coach Lloyd McClendon is excited about OF Austin Jackson's tweaks to his swing, as he has reduced his leg kick. "I'm extremely pleased by how quickly he adjusted and adapted," McClendon said. "And really the credit goes to him because he wanted to do it and he was willing to do it. My hope is that we're going to see some drastic differences."

The Detroit Tigers will be searching for a leadoff man this offseason because they know OF Austin Jackson isn't the long-term answer there. Free-agent SS Jose Reyes (Mets) would be their dream candidate in the spot, but free-agent OF David DeJesus (Athletics) and 2B Kelly Johnson (Blue Jays) are other options.

Detroit Tigers OF Austin Jackson went 3-for-5 with a run scored and RBI in Game 3 of the American League Championship Series Tuesday, Oct. 11, against the Texas Rangers. Jackson entered with just one hit in nine at-bats during the ALCS, and he was 3-for-25 (.120) in seven postseason games overall.
