Mariners | Ketel Marte remains out

Mon, 31 Aug 2015 13:53:26 -0700

Seattle Mariners SS Ketel Marte (hamstring) is not in the starting lineup Monday, Aug. 31, but he said he is available off the bench. OF Austin Jackson is leading off, and SS Brad Miller is starting at shortstop and batting eighth against Houston Astros SP Dallas Keuchel Monday.

Fantasy Tip: Marte ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) also missed the game Sunday, Aug. 30, although it sounds like he'll be back sooner than later. Jackson ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) and Miller ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) are nothing more than desperation fliers at FantasyScore Monday. Keuchel ($9,200, 18.4% of cap) has been next to unhittable at home and boasts a perfect 11-0 record with a 1.35 ERA and a 9.3 K/9.

Mariners | Austin Jackson batting second

Thu, 27 Aug 2015 14:17:12 -0700

Seattle Mariners OF Austin Jackson is batting second against Chicago White Sox SP Carlos Rodon Thursday, Aug. 27.

Fantasy Tip: Jackson ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) has only been starting against lefties of late, and he has a .273/.309/.394 against them for the season. Hitting second boosts Jackson's value, but he still isn't anything more than a flier at FantasyScore.

Mariners | No Austin Jackson Wednesday

Wed, 26 Aug 2015 10:15:24 -0700

Seattle Mariners OF Austin Jackson is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, Aug. 26. SS Brad Miller is starting in center field and is batting eighth against Oakland Athletics SP Chris Bassitt.

Fantasy Tip: Miller ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) does have all nine of his home runs in 2015 off of right-handed pitchers, but Bassitt has been very solid since joining Oakland's rotation, and Miller's low lineup spot limits his daily intrigue this afternoon.

Mon, 24 Aug 2015 22:50:04 -0700

Mariners | Austin Jackson hitting leadoff

Tue, 11 Aug 2015 15:27:07 -0700

Seattle Mariners OF Austin Jackson is hitting leadoff against Baltimore Orioles SP Chris Tillman Tuesday, Aug. 11.

Fantasy Tip: Jackson ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) gains daily value by hitting leadoff, but he's still a pretty mediocre FantasyScore outfield play against Tillman, who has been very stingy of late. Jackson is hitting .247 (61-for-247) with just two of his six home runs against righties this year.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Jackson ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) in all fantasy formats Monday. Leading off for the Mariners at Coors Field, Marte should be on your radar as a flier for daily contests.

Mariners | Ketel Marte making debut

Fri, 31 Jul 2015 16:43:10 -0700

Seattle Mariners SS Ketel Marte is starting at second base and hitting leadoff against Minnesota Twins SP Tommy Milone Friday, July 31, in his major league debut. 2B Robinson Cano (abdomen) remains out of the lineup. OF Austin Jackson moves from the leadoff spot to sixth in the batting order.

Fantasy Tip: Marte won't be available on FantasyScore tonight after just being called up earlier in the day, but he could have short-term fantasy value with Cano dinged up. Marte's salary will likely be low on FantasyScore to be an attractive value pick. He's only 21, though, and it remains to be seen how much he'll play when Cano returns. Those in dynasty leagues and AL-only formats should jump on him immediately.

Mariners | Austin Jackson back on top

Sun, 19 Jul 2015 07:16:01 -0700

Seattle Mariners OF Austin Jackson returns to the leadoff spot Sunday, July 19, against the New York Yankees and LHP CC Sabathia.

Fantasy Tip: Jackson ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) is 4-for-12 in his last three games, including two multi-hit games. Three of Jackson's four home runs have come against southpaws, and he's an excellent option with Sabathia struggling to perform at home.
