Tigers | Austin Jackson leading off

Tue, 01 Jul 2014 13:39:42 -0700

Detroit Tigers OF Austin Jackson is hitting leadoff for the second time in three games Tuesday, July 1. Manager Brad Ausmus said he's trying to find a spot that'll make Jackson comfortable and get him going at the plate.

Fantasy Tip: Jackson's recent ineptitude has been further diminished by the emergence of J.D. Martinez. Jackson could be a buy-low target in deep leagues, but the chances of him paying off still aren't great.

Tigers | Austin Jackson using natural swing

Tue, 04 Mar 2014 20:55:02 -0800

Detroit Tigers OF Austin Jackson has been hot to start the Grapefruit League spring schedule, hitting a two-run home run Tuesday, March 4. He has eight hits in 13 at-bats with a home run, double, two walks, seven RBI and five runs scored. "Let's hope he continues to stay hot for six and a half more months," manager Brad Ausmus said. Jackson has been working with new hitting coach Wally Joyner on making his swing feel more natural and comfortable, and he has brought back a leg kick before his swing.

Fantasy Tip: So far, so good for Jackson working with Wally World. Still, he remains a mid-round selection in most mixed fantasy formats. Hopefully he can pare down his strikeout totals, which can be a killer for fantasy owners in head-to-head leagues.
