White Sox | Avisail Garcia, Jimmy Rollins out

Fri, 22 Apr 2016 14:35:11 -0700

Chicago White Sox OF Avisail Garcia and SS Jimmy Rollins are not in the starting lineup Friday, April 22. OF Jerry Sands is serving as the designated hitter and batting seventh, while SS Tyler Saladino is at the 6 and is hitting ninth against Texas Rangers SP Martin Perez. Also, OF Austin Jackson moves up to the two-hole.

Fantasy Tip: Garcia is losing fantasy appeal very quickly with his .146 start (7-for-48 with two home runs), and he could lose more playing time to Sands. With that said, Sands has plenty of home run pop but has his daily value capped hitting low in the order. Saladino did homer the other day but shouldn't garner much attention in any format. A-Jax has a favorable lineup spot but is hitting only .170 and remains a low-end fantasy commodity.

White Sox | Austin Jackson breaks slump

Sun, 17 Apr 2016 13:51:31 -0700

Chicago White Sox OF Austin Jackson had a single to break an 0-for-12 slump at the plate Sunday, April 17, against the Tampa Bay Rays.

Fantasy Tip: Jackson, a .267-9-48 with 17 steals a year ago, is hitting .194 to start the year. You may want to keep him on your bench for now while he works his way through some early-season hitting woes.

White Sox | Austin Jackson not in lineup

Thu, 14 Apr 2016 09:07:06 -0700

Chicago White Sox OF Austin Jackson is not in the starting lineup Thursday, April 14. That allows OF J.B. Shuck to start in right field, and he's hitting eighth against Minnesota Twins SP Ervin Santana.

Fantasy Tip: Shuck has only four career home runs in his five seasons in the majors and isn't an attractive fantasy option in any format.

White Sox | Austin Jackson drives in a pair

Mon, 11 Apr 2016 21:53:15 -0700

Chicago White Sox OF Austin Jackson had a hit with two RBIs in four at-bats Monday, April 11, against the Minnesota Twins, and he also struck out twice.

Fantasy Tip: A-Jax's stat line is a microcosm of his seasonal output, as he picks up hits, drives in runs and strikes out a ton. He is more of an AL-only fantasy option than good play in mixed leagues, and he is a decent play in DFS when he matchup is favorable.

White Sox | Austin Jackson with day off

Thu, 07 Apr 2016 09:56:15 -0700

Chicago White Sox OF Austin Jackson is not in the starting lineup Thursday, April 7. OF J.B. Shuck gets a start in left field and is hitting sixth against Oakland Athletics SP Kendall Graveman. Also, OF Melky Cabrera is serving as the designated hitter and is in the two-hole.

Fantasy Tip: Shuck is a dice roll as a cheap flier in daily games today with Graveman starting after dealing with the flu earlier this week. Cabrera is off to another slow start after the first two games, but he gains some intrigue with a move up the lineup.

White Sox | Austin Jackson to mostly play CF

Mon, 07 Mar 2016 07:04:17 -0800

Chicago White Sox OF Austin Jackson will mostly play center field this year, according to general manager Rick Hahn. OF Adam Eaton (shoulder) is coming off shoulder surgery and is serving as the designated hitter in spring games, although he's expected to be ready by Opening Day.

Fantasy Tip: Chicago is a nice landing spot for Jackson, but his playing time will be limited. Eaton remains the starting center fielder, and his value shouldn't change at all. Jackson is mainly appealing for his speed, but he also has decent pop. With a lack of consistent at-bats, he's probably only attractive in AL-only leagues for now.

White Sox | Austin Jackson signs

Sun, 06 Mar 2016 15:29:04 -0800

Free-agent OF Austin Jackson (Cubs) has signed a one-year deal with the Chicago White Sox, worth $5 million.

Fantasy Tip: Jackson will bring an element of speed to the team with his stolen base power, and it solidifies the center field picture. Adam Eaton was starting in center prior to Jackson's signing, and Eaton will still see time. However, Jackson should be penciled in as the starter. He ranks midway down the chart in AL and mixed formats.

Tigers | Anthony Gose the primary CF

Thu, 03 Mar 2016 14:22:53 -0800

Detroit Tigers OF Anthony Gose becomes Detroit's primary center fielder with OF Cameron Maybin (wrist) out four to six weeks with a non-displaced fracture of his left wrist. The Tigers would like Gose to share center field, but they don't have a lot of depth behind him at the position. OF Tyler Collins can play some center, but he also hits left-handed, like Gose. It's unlikely the Tigers would sign free-agent OF Austin Jackson (Cubs), because of his price tag.

Fantasy Tip: Gose hits a lot of ground balls, and speed is by far his best asset. However, he doesn't make much contact, so he won't help you in average, and he's bad against lefties, making him strictly a source of some steals in deep mixed leagues. Maybin's injury doesn't do a whole lot to help his value.

Rangers | David Murphy, Austin Jackson contacted

Fri, 26 Feb 2016 23:47:33 -0800

The Texas Rangers have expressed interest in free-agent OF David Murphy (Indians) and Austin Jackson (Cubs).

Fantasy Tip: The Rangers may still go after one of these players, but the signing of Drew Stubbs may have also knocked Texas out of the running. Both of these players are valid late-round selections, but watch and see where they end up.

Angels | Halos made offer to Austin Jackson

Thu, 25 Feb 2016 16:03:38 -0800

Free-agent OF Austin Jackson (Cubs) was offered a one-year deal in the neighborhood of $5 million or $6 million by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, according to a source with knowledge of the situation. Jackson and his agent, Scott Boras, are seeking more money, so the Angels moved on. A Jackson signing would've put the Angels over the $189 million luxury-tax threshold.

Fantasy Tip: It's a surprise that A-Jax hasn't landed with a team yet, and he may hold out for a deal to his liking until after the regular season starts. But after returning from injury he showed nice speed and hard contact in the second half. Jackson could be a 15-20 guy with full-time playing time, but he's unlikely to find it this late in the game.
