New York Mets 1B Ike Davis could still be sent to the minors, and manager Terry Collins isn't ruling out using OF Lucas Duda or 2B Daniel Murphy at first as a replacement. Duda has been taking grounders at first. OFs Kirk Nieuwenhuis and Mike Baxter could serve as the corner outfielders against righties if Duda is moved to first base. INFs Jordany Valdespin, Zach Lutz or Josh Satin could be recalled if Davis is demoted.

New York Mets 2B Daniel Murphy drove in two of his team's three runs in a win Sunday, May 6, against the Arizona Diamondbacks. He wrapped up the three-game set going 7-for-12 (.583) against Arizona pitching, raising his season average to .315. "He is such a good hitter," manager Terry Collins said.

New York Mets 2B Daniel Murphy is open to a move to third base if 3B David Wright (pinkie) requires a stint on the 15-day disabled list. "I feel comfortable there," Murphy said Friday, April 13. "I haven't taken ground balls over there, but I definitely feel comfortable over at third base. I'll talk to (manager Terry Collins) and if he writes it, I'll go."

Mets | David Wright likely to land on DL

Updating a previous report, the New York Mets will make a decision on whether to place 3B David Wright (pinkie) on the 15-day disabled list Saturday, April 14, and it's likely that they will decide on the DL route. If he lands on the DL, 2B Daniel Murphy will slide to third base and INFs Ronny Cedeno and Justin Turner will split time at second base. "Right now my finger won't wrap around (the bat). Obviously, it's painful. But it's right now more of a functional thing, too. It's tough to make a fist, so I can't really get that finger moving the way I need to do to grip a bat."

New York Mets 3B David Wright (pinkie) will visit with a hand specialist Friday, April 13, at which point the team will make a decision on whether to place him on the disabled list. The fracture is at the middle joint of his right pinkie, and he'll be fitted for a splint Wednesday, April 11. 2B Daniel Murphy would likely move to third base in a prolonged absence of Wright. INF Jordany Valdespin or Justin Turner could see time at second base as a result. SS Ronny Cedeno will fill in at third base if the injury turns out to be short term.
