Cubs | Jake Arrieta rolling for Cubs

Thu, 20 Aug 2015 10:28:07 -0700

Chicago Cubs SP Jake Arrieta (14-6, 2.39 ERA) faces Atlanta Braves SP Mike Foltynewicz (4-4, 5.61 ERA) Thursday, Aug. 20, at Wrigley Field. Arrieta is 8-1 with a 1.35 ERA, .166 opponent's batting average, 74 strikeouts and 20 walks in 80 innings pitched in his last 11 starts.

Fantasy Tip: Arrieta ($9,400, 18.8% of cap) and Max Scherzer, at Colorado, are the highest-priced starters tonight. Arrieta is pitching as well as anyone in baseball and he faces the offensively deficient Braves at home on a light night for starting pitching options on FantasyScore. Its tough to find a better choice in daily today.

Chicago Cubs SP Jake Arrieta allowed four hits and struck out six over 7 2/3 scoreless innings in a win over the San Francisco Giants Sunday, Aug. 9.

Fantasy Tip: Arrieta ($9,400, 18.8% of cap) is 7-1 with a 1.23 ERA over his last 10 starts, and he is on the short list of must-start pitchers at FantasyScore right now.

Giants | Nori Aoki hit in head

Sun, 09 Aug 2015 15:58:17 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Nori Aoki (head) left in the third inning after being hit in the head by a fastball from Chicago Cubs SP Jake Arrieta Sunday, Aug. 9.

Fantasy Tip: Aoki ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) will likely be checked for a concussion, and he could miss a game or two either way. When healthy, he has been a solid value play at FantasyScore, especially against lefties.

Cubs | Jake Arrieta throws seven scoreless

Tue, 04 Aug 2015 19:47:02 -0700

Fantasy Tip: Arrieta ($9,400, 18.8% of cap) sits with 12 wins, a 2.50 ERA, a 2.63 FIP and a 9.3 K/9 for the season, as he has emerged as a high-end starter in all fantasy formats. FantasyScore players can consider him whenever he takes the hill.

Cubs | Jon Lester starting Friday

Tue, 04 Aug 2015 17:03:11 -0700

Chicago Cubs SP Jon Lester will make his next start against the San Francisco Giants at home Friday, Aug. 7, after having his start rained out Monday, Aug. 3. SP Dan Haren is going against the Pittsburgh Pirates in his debut with the team Wednesday, Aug. 5, and SP Jason Hammel will go against the Giants Thursday, Aug. 6. SP Kyle Hendricks will be pushed back a day to Saturday, Aug. 8, while SP Jake Arrieta will pitch on normal rest Sunday, Aug. 9. Lester threw only 31 pitches Monday night.

Fantasy Tip: The fact that Lester ($8,500, 17.0% of cap) threw some before the game was canceled Monday shouldn't make you hesitant to use him Friday on FantasyScore. However, the Gigantes have the third-best OPS in the league (.766) on the road this year, meaning you may want to save Lester for another day.

Cubs | Jake Arrieta has strong outing

Sun, 19 Jul 2015 23:17:18 -0700

Chicago Cubs SP Jake Arrieta gave up three hits, walked three and struck out 10 batters Sunday, July 19, in a 4-1 win over the Atlanta Braves. Arrieta is 5-0 with a 0.96 ERA in his last six starts.

Fantasy Tip: Arrieta ($9,100, 18.2% of cap) has been on fire as of late, proving to be an effective No. 2 starter behind Jon Lester. The way he's played, Arrieta could even be the ace. Whatever the case, the righty is a must-play in all formats as long as he's on this roll.

Chicago Cubs SP Jake Arrieta threw a complete game in a win over the Chicago White Sox Sunday, July 12, allowing one run on two hits and striking out nine.

Fantasy Tip: Arrieta ($9,100, 18.2% of cap) is averaging more than a strikeout per inning to go along with a 2.66 ERA this year. He has been one of the top starters at FantasyScore this season and is worth paying up for whenever he draws a decent matchup.

Cubs | Jake Arrieta succeeds despite ASG snub

Tue, 07 Jul 2015 17:25:33 -0700

Chicago Cubs SP Jake Arrieta allowed two runs and seven hits over 6 2/3 innings Tuesday, July 7, against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Fantasy Tip: Arrieta ($9,100, 18.2% of cap) is 3-0 with a 1.17 ERA in his past four starts. Arrieta struck out just four hitters Tuesday, but he had struck out seven in each of his previous three starts. Arrieta should continue to receive regular FantasyScore consideration.

Cubs | Jake Arrieta, Dallas Beeler going Tuesday

Mon, 06 Jul 2015 13:47:28 -0700

Chicago Cubs SP Jake Arrieta is starting the first game and SP Dallas Beeler is starting the second game of the doubleheader against the St. Louis Cardinals Tuesday, July 7.

Fantasy Tip: Arrieta ($9,100, 18.2% of cap) has found his groove with a 0.75 ERA and 21 strikeouts through 24 innings over his past three starts. During the run, he has held opposing hitters to a .408 OPS and he is a top-tier FantasyScore option Tuesday. Beeler is nothing more than a high-risk flier, and FantasyScore players, along with seasonal owners, should likely aim higher.

Cubs | Jake Arrieta sharp again

Thu, 02 Jul 2015 16:52:49 -0700

Chicago Cubs SP Jake Arrieta allowed five hits and just one run while walking none and striking out seven in eight sharp innings to beat the New York Mets Thursday, July 2. Arrieta lowered his ERA on the season to 2.80 in the 98-pitch outing.

Fantasy Tip: Arrieta's ($8,900, 17.8% of cap) fine 2015 season is no fluke. In his last six starts, he's allowed just 10 earned runs in 41 innings while fanning 43. He should always be in consideration for a spot on your FantasyScore lineups when he pitches, and against offensively challenged clubs like the Mets, he becomes a lock.
