Jim Flynn, of the Pewter Report, reports the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will release LB Shelton Quarles prior to the NFL Draft, according to general manager Bruce Allen. Quarles will be released after he failed the team's physical. .

The St. Petersburg Times reports there are rumors that Tampa Bay Buccaneers LB Shelton Quarles was told during a recent meeting with Buccaneers general manager Bruce Allen that he is not a part of the team's plans for 2007. It is not clear whether he will retire or be released. The team will have extra time to make a final decision because Quarles has agreed to move back his roster bonus due date from April 1 to May 1, partly because he wants to obtain additional medical opinions on his health.

Stephen F. Holder and Lisa Greene, of St. Petersburg Times, reports Tampa Bay Buccaneers MLB Shelton Quarles is considering retirement. He suffered six concussions during the 2005 season and doctors have advised him to retire because of lingering effects. He has not made a decision and plans to meet with other doctors.
