Athletics | Derek Norris wins game with homer

Wed, 09 Apr 2014 14:01:38 -0700

Oakland Athletics C Derek Norris hit a game-winning, pinch-hit three-run home run Wednesday, April 9, to give him home runs in back-to-back days. Both of his home runs and all six of his hits this year have been off right-handed pitchers.

Fantasy Tip: Norris is proving to be the clear favorite for playing time behind the dish because of his offensive prowess over John Jaso. Norris should be owned in all leagues that start two catchers.

Athletics | Derek Norris works on plate, throwing mechanics

Tue, 25 Mar 2014 17:20:42 -0700

Oakland Athletics C Derek Norris, who will enter the season in a platoon with either Cs John Jaso or Stephen Vogt, added a small leg kick to help place his landing foot correctly in the offseason. "When I found it, I stuck with it," Norris said. "So this was one of my easier offseasons, I didn't have to put a lot of thought into it -- I just repeated it. I'm at the point I can swing without thinking, and that was the goal. Now I have a more consistent swing path and I can shoot the ball to all fields." Norris is also working to iron out "kinks in my mechanics" on the defensive side to help him throw out more base runners.
