Rays | John Jaso not in Friday lineup

Fri, 31 Jul 2015 15:30:19 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays C John Jaso is not in the starting lineup against Boston Red Sox left-handed SP Eduardo Rodriguez Friday, July 31. OF Joey Butler is serving as the designated hitter and batting fifth, while OF Mikie Mahtook was recalled from the minors and gets the start in left field while hitting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Butler ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) has cooled off considerably since a hot run in the first half of the season, and he's seeing inconsistent playing time, too, making him hard to rely on for fantasy purposes. Both he and Mahtook are weaker outfield plays, but Butler at least is a decent value consideration on FantasyScore. Mahtook should be ignored.

Rays | John Jaso out vs. southpaw

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 15:22:03 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays C John Jaso is not in the lineup against Detroit Tigers left-handed SP David Price Tuesday, July 28. OF Joey Butler is serving as the designated hitter and batting second.

Fantasy Tip: Butler ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) has hit very well against lefties this year (.314/.333/.486 with three of his six home runs in 70 at-bats), which could make him a contrarian play on FantasyScore while facing Price.

Rays | John Jaso resting

Wed, 22 Jul 2015 06:46:29 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays C John Jaso is out of the lineup Wednesday, July 22, with OF Brandon Guyer leading off.

Fantasy Tip: Guyer ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) is hitting .185 this month and hits lefties at a .260 clip. Avoid him on FantasyScore.

Rays | John Jaso on the bench

Mon, 20 Jul 2015 12:00:22 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays C John Jaso is not in the starting lineup against Philadelphia Phillies SP David Buchanan Monday, July 20, because the team is playing in a National League park and will not use the designated hitter.

Fantasy Tip: It is not known if Jaso ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) will receive any starts during the series against the Phillies, so owners will need to check the daily lineups. Jaso has picked up at least one hit in eight of his last 10 games and should be a solid option for owners when he return to the lineup.

Rays | John Jaso makes immediate impact

Thu, 09 Jul 2015 15:28:11 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays C John Jaso went 7-for-12 in the series against the Kansas City Royals after coming off the disabled list earlier this week. Jaso had been out since the first week of the season with a bruised wrist.

Fantasy Tip: Jaso ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) is extremely valuable in deep mixed and AL-only leagues because of his positional eligibility at catcher and outfield, and he'll continue to have strong daily value if he continues to hit leadoff for the Rays.

Rays | John Jaso to play a lot

Tue, 07 Jul 2015 16:09:55 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays C John Jaso will play a lot in the outfield, but it'll be a juggling effort to get him, OF Grady Sizemore and OF David DeJesus all in the lineup together, according to manager Kevin Cash.

Fantasy Tip: Jaso ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) is hitting leadoff in Game 2 of the team's doubleheader tonight, and he could be a very nice value pick at catcher on FantasyScore when facing certain right-handed pitchers. Consider adding him in two-catcher and AL-only leagues if he's available on your league's waiver wire.

Rays | John Jaso leading off in return

Tue, 07 Jul 2015 15:52:48 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays C John Jaso (wrist) will serve as the designated hitter and hit leadoff in his return to the lineup Tuesday, July 7, against the Kansas City Royals and RHP Edinson Volquez.

Fantasy Tip: Jaso ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) had just one plate appearance before his trip to the DL earlier this season. Jaso is a career .272 hitter against right-handed pitchers, and he'll start to garner FantasyScore consideration before long.

Rays | Steven Souza to DL

Tue, 07 Jul 2015 08:17:22 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF Steven Souza (finger) was placed on the 15-day disabled list, while C John Jaso (wrist) was activated from the 60-day disabled list Tuesday, July 7. Souza is eligible to return July 21.

Fantasy Tip: Jaso ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) will give fantasy owners a low-end catcher option to possibly profit off of on FantasyScore once he kicks off the rust.

Rays | John Jaso continues rehab assignment

Mon, 29 Jun 2015 15:24:32 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays C John Jaso (wrist) said his bruised left wrist was "still sore" after his first two games on a rehab assignment, but he will rejoin Class A Charlotte Tuesday, June 30.

Fantasy Tip: Jaso ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) figures to see most of the starts at catcher for the Rays when he returns, as Rene Rivera ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) leaves plenty to be desired with the bat. Consider adding Jaso if he's available in your two-catcher or AL-only leagues.

Rays | John Jaso to start rehab assignment

Fri, 26 Jun 2015 13:17:33 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays C John Jaso (wrist) will start his rehab assignment with Class A Charlotte Saturday, June 27.

Fantasy Tip: Jaso ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) should see most of the starts at catcher for the Rays when he's ready, but it's unknown how long he'll need on a rehab assignment. Target him in AL-only leagues or setups that start two catchers if you're hurting at the position.
