Pittsburgh Pirates SP Charlie Morton (elbow, personal) wanted to throw a side session Thursday, May 23, as he continues to rehab from an elbow injury. However, his wife gave birth to a son in Pittsburgh. He is scheduled to throw a 90-pitch rehab outing Monday, May 27.

Fantasy Tip: Morton remains on track to return to the rotation in early June, and he is likely to replace SP Jeanmar Gomez. Morton should be added in NL-only fantasy leagues if you're in need of pitching help.

Pittsburgh Pirates SP Charlie Morton (elbow) will make rehab starts Sunday, May 26, and May 31 and will replace SP Jeanmar Gomez in the rotation after that.

Fantasy Tip: Morton could become an option for deep mixed managers that are looking for rotation help, but initially, consider him mainly a commodity for NL-only formats.

Pittsburgh Pirates SP Charlie Morton (elbow) will make three more rehab starts, putting him on track to return to the team in early June. Morton threw four innings (61 pitches) for Double-A Altoona Thursday, May 16, and he'll make his next start with Triple-A Indianapolis. SP Jeff Karstens (shoulder) will make his next rehab start and go four innings or 65 pitches with Altoona Saturday, May 18.

Pittsburgh Pirates SP Charlie Morton (elbow, shoulder) threw a bullpen session Friday, May 10, and didn't have any issues, but he won't start a minor league rehab assignment until his shoulder soreness is completely gone.
