The Oakland Athletics avoided arbitration with 1B Daric Barton, IF Adam Rosales and C Landon Powell by signing them to one-year deals. Barton will make $1.1 million, Rosales will make $600,000 and Powell will make $620,000.

The Oakland Athletics avoided arbitration with 1B Daric Barton, C Landon Powell and INF Adam Rosales by agreeing to one-year deals with them Monday, Dec. 12. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Oakland Athletics OF Conor Jackson is expected to see a majority of the starts at first base now that 1B Daric Barton has been sent to the minors. 2B Adam Rosales can also play first base and might see time there as well.

Oakland Athletics 1B Daric Barton could be facing a demotion to Triple-A Sacramento in the coming days. Barton, who has one minor league option remaining, is batting .212 and if the Athletics were to send him out to get his swing together, 1B Conor Jackson or IF Adam Rosales could handle first.

The Oakland Athletics designated IF Andy LaRoche for assignment on Monday, June 6. "They just told me that with (Adam Rosales) coming back, they had to make a decision," LaRoche said. "It's definitely disappointing, but I guess I'll play it by ear now and see what my best opportunity is." The team has expressed interest in keeping LaRoche if he clears waivers following the customary 10-day period.

Oakland Athletics 3B Adam Rosales (foot) made his regular season debut Monday, June 6, against the Baltimore Orioles, and he went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer. It was his first homer since July 18, 2010.
