Padres | Melvin Upton, Ryan Schimpf sitting

Wed, 20 Jul 2016 15:21:00 -0700

San Diego Padres OF Melvin Upton Jr. and 2B Ryan Schimpf are not in the starting lineup for Game 2 of a doubleheader against the St. Louis Cardinals Wednesday, July 20. OF Alex Dickerson is starting in left field and batting sixth, while INF Adam Rosales is at the keystone and is hitting seventh against Cardinals SP Jaime Garcia.

Fantasy Tip: Dickerson has some moderate pop but doesn't play enough to be anything more than a bench piece in NL-only leagues. He's a bad play against the southpaw in DFS, too. Rosales is even less attractive with his .197/.282/.409 slash line on the year.

Padres | Ryan Schimpf on the bench

Fri, 15 Jul 2016 15:57:49 -0700

San Diego Padres 2B Ryan Schimpf is not in the starting lineup against San Francisco Giants SP Madison Bumgarner Friday, July 15. 2B Adam Rosales will start at second base and is batting sixth.

Fantasy Tip: Rosales is hitting only .189 in his limited playing time this season and should be avoided in all fantasy leagues.

Padres | No Ryan Schimpf against L.A.

Fri, 08 Jul 2016 15:31:56 -0700

San Diego Padres 2B Ryan Schimpf is not in the starting lineup against Los Angeles Dodgers left-handed SP Scott Kazmir Friday, July 8. INF Adam Rosales is starting at second base and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Schimpf, a minor league journeyman, is hitting just .204 in 54 at-bats but has three home runs in his last three games, making him semi-appealing for middle infield depth in cavernous mixed and NL-only leagues with regular playing time. Rosales is hitting under .194 with five homers and 16 RBI and is one to avoid in daily formats hitting low in the order.

Padres | Yangervis Solarte starting Sunday

Sun, 19 Jun 2016 12:34:05 -0700

San Diego Padres 2B/3B Yangervis Solarte will play third base and bat fourth against Washington Nationals SP Gio Gonzalez on Sunday, June 19. INF Adam Rosales will draw a start in place of 2B/3B Ryan Schimpf at second base and hit eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Solarte has cooled considerably since coming off the disabled list in late May and is mired in a 2-for-29 slump over his last 10 games. There is some hope he could break out of that today given he is batting .333 against southpaws this season, but he's going to be a hard sell against Gonzalez. Outside of NL-only or the deepest mixed leagues, feel free to sit both Solarte and Rosales.

Padres | Brett Wallace out vs. lefty

Mon, 13 Jun 2016 13:48:01 -0700

San Diego Padres 1B Brett Wallace is not in the starting lineup against Miami Marlins left-handed SP Wei-Yin Chen Monday, June 13. 3B Adam Rosales draws into the lineup at second base and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Rosales is a super-utility player that doesn't offer up much for fantasy purposes. He has a .188/.274/.347 slash line with three home runs and 10 RBI on the year. Consider him a desperation daily selection Monday night.

Padres | Yangervis Solarte out with injury

Sun, 12 Jun 2016 11:51:43 -0700

San Diego Padres 3B Yangervis Solarte (thumb) is not in the starting lineup against Colorado Rockies SP Tyler Anderson Sunday, June 12. 2B Adam Rosales will start at second base and is batting eighth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Owners should keep an eye out on the situation to see when Solarte will be able to play again. Rosales has not received a lot of playing time recently but does have six hits and four RBI over the last six games. Rosales should have some value in daily fantasy leagues and could be a starting candidate for some desperate owners.

Padres | Brett Wallace sitting Wednesday

Wed, 01 Jun 2016 15:23:31 -0700

San Diego Padres 1B Brett Wallace is not in the starting lineup against Seattle Mariners left-handed SP James Paxton Wednesday, June 1. 3B Adam Rosales draws into the lineup at second base and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: There's not much to like about Rosales for fantasy owners. He's hitting just .165 (14-for-85) with two home runs and six RBI on the season. It's unlikely he'll return any value at all hitting that low in the batting order. There are much better options out there.

Padres | Jon Jay, Brett Wallace sitting

Tue, 17 May 2016 16:09:21 -0700

San Diego Padres OF Jon Jay and 1B Brett Wallace are not in the starting lineup against San Francisco Giants left-handed SP Madison Bumgarner Tuesday, May 17. OF Travis Jankowski is starting in center field and hitting ninth, while 3B Adam Rosales is at the hot corner and is batting sixth. Also, 1B Wil Myers moves to the leadoff spot and OF Melvin Upton Jr. is hitting cleanup.

Fantasy Tip: We can't recommend Jankowski or Rosales as deep sleeper picks in daily formats while facing the MadBum. Myers loses a little daily value, as well, hitting leadoff without the opportunity to drive in as many runs. Upton is a more of a sleeper option if you're feeling lucky in a tough matchup.

Padres | Jose Pirela not in the lineup

Sun, 15 May 2016 09:50:44 -0700

San Diego Padres 2B Jose Pirela is not in the starting lineup against Milwaukee Brewers SP Zach Davies Sunday, May 15. 2B Adam Rosales will start at second base and is batting eighth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Rosales has only three hits in 23 at-bats this month and probably can be avoided in most fantasy leagues.

Padres | Brett Wallace sitting out Game 2

Wed, 11 May 2016 15:25:19 -0700

San Diego Padres 1B Brett Wallace is not in the starting lineup for Game 2 of a doubleheader against the Chicago Cubs Wednesday, May 11. 3B Adam Rosales draws the start at the hot corner and is hitting eighth against Cubs SP John Lackey.

Fantasy Tip: Wallace receives a breather after his game-winning three-run bomb in Game 1. Rosales is a low-end daily pick tonight, especially hitting so low in the batting order. He's hitting just .169 on the season with two home runs and six RBI in 59 at-bats.
