Cubs | Anthony Rizzo riding a hot stretch

Tue, 19 Jul 2016 11:42:14 -0700

Chicago Cubs 1B Anthony Rizzo has reached base safely in 23 of his past 25 games with a .375 batting average (36-for-96), seven home runs and 19 RBI.

Fantasy Tip: Rizzo is an elite fantasy contributor and sits with 56 runs, 22 home runs, 68 RBI and a .293/.406/.586 slash line. After stealing 17 bases in 2015, he has just two this season, though. Still, it's tough to complain given Rizzo's improvements across the other four categories.

Rangers | Sam Dyson easily converts 19th save

Sun, 17 Jul 2016 14:18:18 -0700

Texas Rangers RP Sam Dyson breezed through the heart of the Chicago Cubs' order on Sunday, July 17, striking out Kris Bryant, Anthony Rizzo and Willson Contreras in succession to pick up his 19th save in 21 chances.

Fantasy Tip: It's hard to believe Shawn Tolleson kept the closer's job as long as he did; Dyson has been spectacular in the role since taken over in mid-May. The 28-year-old has held the opposition scoreless in 11 of his last 12 appearances, with his meltdown (four runs allowed in a third of an inning) against the New York Yankees on June 29 the lone exception. Short of Texas acquiring a player like Andrew Miller at the deadline, Dyson should be considered a top-10 fantasy closer the rest of the way.

Cubs | Anthony Rizzo plates a pair

Sat, 16 Jul 2016 15:54:37 -0700

Chicago Cubs 1B Anthony Rizzo extended his hitting streak to 11 games on Saturday, July 16, delivering a go-ahead, two-run single in the third inning against the Texas Rangers.

Fantasy Tip: Rizzo also moved into a tie with Kris Bryant for the team lead in RBI with 65 and is maintaining the same kind of pace this month (.375) that he enjoyed last month (.378). With his slow start now a distant memory, Rizzo has returned to being one of the best first basemen in fantasy and a must-start.

Cubs | Anthony Rizzo, Miguel Montero back in lineup

Sat, 25 Jun 2016 10:07:28 -0700

Chicago Cubs 1B Anthony Rizzo (back) and C Miguel Montero (knee) are back in the starting lineup against Miami Marlins SP Paul Clemens Saturday, June 25. In addition, C/OF Willson Contreras will bat cleanup and play left field, while INF Javier Baez plays second base and bats sixth. OF Chris Coghlan and 2B Ben Zobrist (foot) are receiving the day off.

Fantasy Tip: Contreras is 7-for-17 (.412) through the first seven games of his MLB career, with three home runs and eight RBI, and will be making his first appearance in the outfield since being called up. He is a must-start option in DFS this afternoon. Baez is batting .284 with four homers and 14 RBI this month and could see regular time at the keystone position over the next few days if Zobrist is forced to miss multiple games due to a right foot injury.
