Brewers | Will Middlebrooks on the DL

Mon, 25 Jul 2016 10:57:03 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers 3B Will Middlebrooks (leg) was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a lower right leg strain Monday, July 25, and OF Keon Broxton was recalled from the minors in a corresponding move.

Fantasy Tip: Middlebrooks had only three hits in 27 at-bats (.111) this year, so he can be dropped in even the deepest of NL-only leagues. Broxton has speed to burn but hit just .125 (8-for-64) this year and is unlikely to receive regular playing time. Only add him in NL leagues if you need some speed.

Brewers | Will Middlebrooks leaves game

Sun, 24 Jul 2016 12:59:28 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers 3B Will Middlebrooks (leg) left the game early Sunday, July 24, because of a lower leg strain.

Fantasy Tip: Owners should keep an eye on the situation to see if Middlebrooks will be out for an extended period of time. He is mostly a bench player for the Brewers and should be avoided in most leagues.

Brewers | Kirk Nieuwenhuis, Ramon Flores out

Sun, 24 Jul 2016 09:54:04 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Kirk Nieuwenhuis and OF Ramon Flores are not in the starting lineup against Chicago Cubs SP Jon Lester Sunday, July 24. 3B Hernan Perez will start in right field, while 3B Will Middlebrooks will start at third base and is batting seventh. OF Jake Elmore will start in center field and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Middlebrooks has gone 3-for-9 against left-handed pitchers since being recalled from the minor leagues but should be avoided in most leagues. Elmore is hitting only .125 since joining the team and should not be used by owners.

Sat, 09 Jul 2016 09:32:30 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers C Jonathan Lucroy and 3B Hernan Perez are not in the starting lineup against St. Louis Cardinals SP Carlos Martinez Saturday, July 9. 3B Will Middlebrooks will start at third base and is batting sixth, while C Martin Maldonado will start at catcher and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Middlebrooks has gone 1-for-5 since being recalled from the minor leagues and should be avoided in all leagues. Maldonado is only hitting .161 this season and is not a great fantasy option.

Brewers | Milwaukee to use platoon at hot corner

Thu, 07 Jul 2016 18:24:19 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers INFs Will Middlebrooks and Hernan Perez are expected to see the bulk of the playing time at the hot corner following the trade of INF Aaron Hill to the Boston Red Sox, according to general manager David Stearns. INF Jake Elmore could also see some action at third base.

Fantasy Tip: Middlebrooks and Perez should both be owned in NL-only fantasy leagues, with Perez having a slight advantage because of his success versus right-handed pitching (.302) and his positional versatility.

Brewers | Will Middlebrooks draws into the lineup

Tue, 05 Jul 2016 12:55:38 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers 3B Will Middlebrooks is starting at third base and batting seventh against Washington Nationals SP Gio Gonzalez Tuesday, July 5. 2B Scooter Gennett is not in the starting lineup Tuesday.

Fantasy Tip: This will be Middlebrooks' season debut, and over the previous two campaigns, he has a disappointing .202/.248/.317 slash line. There could be some promise here, though, as Middlebrooks was sporting a .282/.308/.508 slash line with Class AAA Colorado Springs. He's a player to watch in cavernous mixed and NL-only leagues. Gennett's ownership should be limited to deep mixed and NL-only formats, and he's a low-end starting option.

Brewers | Will Middlebrooks taking reps at first base

Sun, 13 Mar 2016 05:30:57 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers 3B Will Middlebrooks played first base Friday, March 11, and is willing to continue playing the opposite side of the diamond to crack the opening day roster.

"I told the guys, anywhere you can fit me in, or anywhere that can help us out any given day, throw me in there and I'll do it," Middlebrooks said.

Fantasy Tip: After showing promise as a rookie in 2012, Middlebrooks owns a .213/.258/.363 slash line through 878 plate appearances over the past three seasons. At this point, Middlebrooks is nothing more than a late-round flier in cavernous mixed and NL-only leagues.

Brewers | Will Middlebrooks signs with MIL

Tue, 15 Dec 2015 13:40:05 -0800

Free-agent 3B Will Middlebrooks (Padres) has signed a minor-league contract with the Milwaukee Brewers. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Fantasy Tip: Keep an eye on Middlebrooks' status come spring training, as he may be worth a late-round pickup. Eleven teams were after Middlebrooks and the Brewers do not have a true starting third baseman. It looks like Middlebrooks could have a starting job.
