Mets | David Wright out again

Sun, 29 May 2016 14:58:33 -0700

New York Mets 3B David Wright (neck) is out of the starting lineup Sunday, May 29, against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Wright's replacement, SS Wilmer Flores (hamstring), is returning to the lineup and will bat sixth against Dodgers SP Clayton Kershaw. Wright may be unavailable on Monday, May 30, as well.

Fantasy Tip: Right now the team is worried about the DL for Wright, so this injury could turn out to be a serious one. Stash Wright away in all but shallow leagues. Flores may be worth monitoring in daily leagues if he can hit well, because he and Ty Kelly might replace Wright in the lineup for a while.

Mets | NYM looking for help at first base

Fri, 27 May 2016 17:03:29 -0700

With New York Mets 1B Lucas Duda (back) sidelined indefinitely, general manager Sandy Alderson plans to explore external options at first base. INF Eric Campbell has started four consecutive games at the position and INF Wilmer Flores (hamstring) could also see time there once he is activated from the disabled list.

Fantasy Tip: Campbell and Flores should be viewed as NL-only fantasy options at this point, with Flores having more upside because of his power potential and positional versatility. The Mets could consider trading for a player such as Atlanta Braves INF/OF Kelly Johnson, who spent time with the club last season, or pursuing San Diego Padres minor league 1B James Loney, who can opt out of his deal if a job is available at the MLB level.

Mets | Wilmer Flores not active Friday

Fri, 27 May 2016 11:19:00 -0700

New York Mets SS Wilmer Flores (hamstring) will not be activated from the disabled list Friday, May 27, as he remains on a minor league rehab assignment and will play again for Class AA Binghamton Friday. Flores was hitless in both games this week but should be activated shortly.

Fantasy Tip: When Flores is ready, he's expected to be the primary first baseman with Lucas Duda (back) out. Flores is hitting only .180 in the majors this year but does have some pop for a regular middle infielder. He could be a useful stopgap in NL-only leagues with regular playing time.

Mets | Wilmer Flores likely done with rehab

Thu, 26 May 2016 10:26:19 -0700

New York Mets 2B Wilmer Flores (hamstring) went 0-for-3 at Class AA Binghamton Thursday, May 26, which likely completes his rehab assignment.

Fantasy Tip: Flores is expected to slot in at first base with Lucas Duda (back) out. He hit 16 homers last season, but he was off to a rough start in '16. Expect him to split time with Eric Campbell and be a matchup play in DFS or a low-end NL-only option.

Mets | Lucas Duda out a while

Mon, 23 May 2016 13:49:27 -0700

Updating a previous report, New York Mets 1B Lucas Duda (back) will be out four to six weeks with a lower back stress fracture, according to manager Terry Collins. INF Ty Kelly will be part of a committee at first base with 3B Eric Campbell in the short term. SS Wilmer Flores (hamstring) is expected to start the majority of games there once he returns from the disabled list. OF Michael Conforto will also work out at first base in anticipation of playing some games there, according to Collins. 3B David Wright is not a consideration.

Fantasy Tip: Kelly was mashing at Class AAA Las Vegas (.391/.478/.548), but his stay is likely to be short. Don't overvalue him in NL-only leagues. Flores has some surprising pop for a middle infielder and could become even more attractive with first base eligibility as depth in cavernous mixed and NL-only affairs. Make sure to stash Duda everywhere because of his 30-homer potential.

Mets | Wilmer Flores to begin rehab assignment

Sat, 21 May 2016 12:30:30 -0700

New York Mets INF Wilmer Flores (hamstring) will begin a rehab assignment Tuesday, May 24, and he is expected to be activated from the disabled list Friday, May 27, according to manager Terry Collins.

Fantasy Tip: Flores was just 9-for-50 (.180) with a home run and two RBI before landing on the disabled list with a left hamstring injury. That being said, the 24-year-old possesses upside because of his positional versatility and power and should remain stashed in NL-only and deep mixed leagues.

Mets | Wilmer Flores headed to DL

Thu, 12 May 2016 06:21:00 -0700

New York Mets SS Wilmer Flores (hamstring) is expected to land on the disabled list Thursday, May 12, with a left hamstring injury.

Fantasy Tip: The team will likely have to bring up Dilson Herrera from Class AAA Las Vegas to cover the middle infield. He's hitting .301 on the farm and has some speed. He probably won't log enough time to be more than an occasional DFS streamer in good matchups.

Mets | Neil Walker out of lineup again

Mon, 09 May 2016 16:48:37 -0700

New York Mets 2B Neil Walker (shin) is not in the lineup Monday, May 9, against Los Angeles Dodgers SP Scott Kazmir. SS Wilmer Flores is starting in his place and batting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: It's the second straight game out for Walker, who was able to enter the game on Sunday as a pinch hitter, so this certainly isn't some sort of severe injury. Despite a breakout season last year, Flores has been extremely disappointing for the Mets in 2016, albeit as a part-time player, as he has just seven hits in 44 at-bats. He's not worth adding anywhere.

Mets | David Wright, Neil Walker take a seat

Sun, 08 May 2016 12:26:41 -0700

New York Mets 3B David Wright and 2B Neil Walker (shin) are not in the lineup on Sunday, May 08, against San Diego Padres SP Andrew Cashner. SS Asdrubal Cabrera will move up into Wright's usual second spot in the order, while 3B Eric Campbell will take a turn at third base and bat eighth. INF Wilmer Flores draws the start in place of Walker and hit sixth.

Fantasy Tip: It's a rest day for Wright, but Walker is sitting out as a result of taking a few foul balls off of his shin on Saturday. Campbell and Flores are both batting below .200 and should be avoided in DFS as well as regular fantasy formats.

Mets | Michael Conforto, Neil Walker sitting

Fri, 06 May 2016 16:45:52 -0700

New York Mets OF Michael Conforto and 2B Neil Walker are not in the starting lineup against San Diego Padres left-handed SP Drew Pomeranz Friday, May 6. OF Juan Lagares is starting in center field and is hitting second, while SS Wilmer Flores is at the keystone and is batting seventh. OF Yoenis Cespedes shifts to left field.

Fantasy Tip: Flores is the more attractive daily gamble as a deep sleeper because of his power abilities, but neither he nor Lagares will be considered by many tonight against Pomeranz.
