Mets | Wilmer Flores has moved to 2B

Tue, 30 Jun 2015 13:32:13 -0700

New York Mets SS Wilmer Flores is starting his second straight game at second base against Chicago Cubs SP Kyle Hendricks Tuesday, June 30. Flores is batting sixth.

Fantasy Tip: With Daniel Murphy (quadriceps) back from the DL, Flores ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) is expected to become the permanent second baseman, at least until David Wright (back) returns. Ruben Tejada will move to shortstop. Flores has surprising power for a middle infielder (10 home runs), but he's only hitting .238 (61-for-256) on the season and is typically a dice roll on FantasyScore for his power abilities.

Mets | Wilmer Flores moving to keystone?

Thu, 25 Jun 2015 09:10:50 -0700

New York Mets SS Wilmer Flores has a "good possibility" of moving to second base when 2B Daniel Murphy (quadriceps) returns from the disabled list as soon as this weekend, according to a source familiar with internal team discussions. Murphy would move back to third base with SS Ruben Tejada playing shortstop at least in the short term. 2B Dilson Herrera would likely be the odd-man out in the infield. Flores has limited range at shortstop, and the Mets have struggled to turn double plays this year. Flores does have 10 home runs but is hitting only .243 with a .277 on-base percentage.

Fantasy Tip: This will do nothing to change Flores' ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) fantasy value at all. He does have suprising pop for a middle infielder, but his average isn't doing his owners any favors. Continue to view him as a low-end shortstop play on FantasyScore.

Mets | Wilmer Flores out Saturday

Sat, 20 Jun 2015 13:36:30 -0700

New York Mets SS Wilmer Flores is out of the starting lineup Saturday, June 20, against the Atlanta Braves. 3B Eric Campbell will start at third and hit eighth in the lineup against RHP Williams Perez.

Fantasy Tip: Campbell ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is hitting below .200 against righties this season, and FantasyScore owners should continue to avoid him in all formats.

Mets | NYM unlikely to pursue Everth Cabrera

Fri, 19 Jun 2015 17:51:25 -0700

The New York Mets are not expected to pursue SS Everth Cabrera, who was recently designated for assignment by the Baltimore Orioles, according to a team official. The Mets had expressed interest in Cabrera last offseason as a free agent but they are pleased with the production of SS Wilmer Flores, 2B Dilson Herrera and INF Ruben Tejada.

Fantasy Tip: Cabrera hit .208 with four RBIs and two steals in 29 games for the O's before being let go. It wouldn't be surprising to see another team pick him up but he is unlikely to be a viable fantasy option again this season.

Mets | Wilmer Flores at cleanup Friday

Fri, 12 Jun 2015 14:13:37 -0700

New York Mets SS Wilmer Flores is hitting cleanup versus Atlanta Braves SP Alex Wood Friday, June 12.

Fantasy Tip: Flores ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) surely sees a slight FantasyScore value boost tonight while hitting cleanup and seeing more chances to drive in runs. Two of his nine home runs have come off lefties this year, though, and Wood has been much better on the road in 2015 than at home.

Mets | Wilmer Flores out Saturday

Sat, 06 Jun 2015 14:57:47 -0700

New York Mets SS Wilmer Flores is out of the starting lineup Saturday, June 6, against the Arizona Diamondbacks. 2B Ruben Tejada will shift to shortstop, while 2B Danny Muno will start at second base and hit sixth in the order against RHP Chase Anderson.

Fantasy Tip: Muno ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) has just one hit in 17 plate appearances in the majors this year, and he shouldn't be considered on FantasyScore.

Mets | Wilmer Flores moved to two-hole

Thu, 21 May 2015 07:41:55 -0700

New York Mets SS Wilmer Flores is batting second against the St. Louis Cardinals Thursday, May 21.

Fantasy Tip: Flores ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) has five runs, three home runs and seven RBI with a .524 slugging percentage over his last 11 games, and he boasts significant power potential for a middle infielder. FantasyScore players should view him as a moderate-risk, high-reward shortstop option hitting in a prime lineup spot Thursday.

Mets | Wilmer Flores drives in four

Sat, 16 May 2015 19:44:10 -0700

New York Mets SS Wilmer Flores went 2-for-4 with a home run, four RBIs and two runs scored in a 14-1 win over the Milwaukee Brewers Saturday, May 16.

Fantasy Tip: Flores ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) is up to six home runs on the year, and while he isn't the most consistent hitter, his power potential makes him worth a look at FantasyScore if you want to gamble on a cheaper shortstop.

Mets | Wilmer Flores hits fifth round tripper

Thu, 14 May 2015 14:51:43 -0700

New York Mets SS Wilmer Flores hit his fifth home run of the season during New York's 6-5 loss to the Chicago Cubs Thursday, May 14.

Fantasy Tip: While Flores ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) doesn't project to hit for a plus-average, the pop is legit, especially for a middle infielder. FantasyScore players have a nice upside source of cap relief due to his power potential, albeit a risky one.

Mets | Wilmer Flores back in action Tuesday

Tue, 05 May 2015 13:54:51 -0700

New York Mets SS Wilmer Flores is back in the lineup Tuesday, May 5, against the Baltimore Orioles.

Fantasy Tip: Flores ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) has slumped in recent days so he was given time off to clear his head. Your best bet is to avoid Flores until he has proven his hitting skills again.
