"We want catching depth; we're looking to provide the staff with as many options as we can. Obviously, Chris comes in on a minor league contract, so he's going to have to compete for a spot. John Hester, Luke Carlin and Hank Conger, all of them, still have an opportunity to win that spot, as does Chris," general manager Jerry Dipoto said.
Fantasy Tip: The signing likely means Conger is ticketed for the minors to start the year so he can work on his defense and throws to the bases. Snyder, or whoever else wins the backup job, will only be valuable in AL leagues or two-catcher setups.

C Hank Conger is expected to be called up Tuesday, Sept. 4, when the season ends for the Triple-A Salt Lake Bees.

Iannetta is expected to miss six to eight weeks. Hester was hitting .266 with two home runs and six RBIs in 18 games with the Class AAA affiliates for the Baltimore Orioles and Angels this year.
