Jacksonville Jaguars DE Jason Babin, formerly of the Philadelphia Eagles, said everyone within the organization was aware that head coach Andy Reid and former defensive line coach Jim Washburn did not get along. "I don't like to see anybody get fired … but you knew they wanted to do that," Babin said. "I could tell there were some feelings between Coach (Andy) Reid and 'Wash' that were on the surface and you could feel the tension a little bit. Everybody knew he wouldn't be there next year anyway."

The two Philadelphia Eagles assistant coaches who were fired this season - former defensive coordinator Juan Castillo and defensive line coach Jim Washburn - reportedly did not get along. Washburn would either ignore Castillo entirely or confront him in a condescending manner, and Washburn would also call Castillo "Juanita" in front of players, according to a veteran defensive player. He was condescending and confrontational and embarrassed Castillo frequently in meetings and at practice and also went over the line criticizing his players at times.

While the exchange was brief, the two had to be separated by Eagles sideline personnel. Washburn and Mornhinweg never before had a verbal spat, neither in a practice or a game this season. Details of their disagreement were not revealed, but according to several players, the argument between those two typified the season, which has been all about frustration.

Haynesworth enjoyed his greatest success while working with Washburn in Tennessee as the Titans defensive line coach. Haynesworth has always spoke highly of Washburn, his position coach from his rookie year in 2002 through 2008, his final season with the Titans.
