Free-agent 1B Barbaro Canizares (Braves) is hoping to catch on with a major league team with an invitation to spring training camp. The 32-year-old spent last season with Oaxaca in the Mexican Summer League after being released by the Atlanta Braves April 3. Canizares currently leads the Mexican Pacific League with 15 home runs and 37 RBIs through 38 games, while maintaining a .319 average.

Atlanta Braves 1B Barbaro Canizares has hit 10 home runs in just 49 games in the Mexican Winter League and OF Matt Young is hitting .358 in 45 games in the same league, according to MLB.com's Bailey Stephens. IF Diory Hernandez is also excelling in the Venezuelan Winter League, batting .304.

Guy Curtright, of Braves.MLB.com, reports Atlanta Braves 1B Barbaro Canizares returned to Triple-A Richmond after two months of absence. Canizares, a Cuban defector, was delayed because of visa problems.
