Raiders | Sapp says young players did not listen Mon, 22 Jun 2009 07:05:09 -0700 Peter King, of SI.com, reports retired DL Warren Sapp said some of the younger players on the Oakland Raiders roster, including DLs Tommy Kelly and Terdell Sands, would not listen to Sapp when he tried to give the players advice. "… In this NFL, the old vets don't factor in. The kids don't listen to nobody. Nobody! My last year in Oakland, I'd try to talk to some of the kids. Tommy Kelly, Terdell Sands. But they had no interest. I thought the ghosts in that building were so valuable, but none of the young guys cared. Once in a while, one of the old legends would come in the building, or make a trip. Jack Tatum would be around, and I'd say, 'You know who that dude is? You know how he played?' And the kids would be like, 'Nah, I don't care.'"
Eagles | Sapp says McNabb not fit enough Wed, 28 Jan 2009 15:13:36 -0800 Bob Brookover, of the Philadelphia Inquirer, reports former NFL DL and current NFL Network studio analyst Warren Sapp was asked why the Philadelphia Eagles are unable to win a Super Bowl. Sapp believes QB Donovan McNabb is not fit enough at the end of the year. Sapp added, "I don't think the quarterback is fit enough at the end of the season, because when you have that black thing on your arm, that's an IV. If I'm 300 pounds taking on a double team all day long and I don't need an IV to get through a game, then neither should my quarterback who is throwing the ball."

"[Davis] is the common equation," Sapp said. "You take him out, put him at home watching film or whatever he is doing -- you have a functioning football organization. But once he comes over the top, he goes and starts moving it around."

Tue, 01 Jul 2008 07:44:26 -0700 Jason Jones, of the Sacramento Bee, reports Oakland Raiders managing general partner Al Davis is considered by some people to be very involved with the team's gameplans. "Having worked in that 'black hole' for eight years, I know exactly what Warren is talking about," Lombardi said. "And those calls to the sideline are from one man and one man only. At times I have been the reluctant messenger on a few of them myself. They are never pleasant."
Raiders | Sapp critical of former team Mon, 30 Jun 2008 07:30:20 -0700 Rick Stroud, of the St. Petersburg Times, reports former Oakland Raiders DL Warren Sapp categorized his time with the organization "as dark as a black hole." Sapp added the Raiders organization was definitely a unique one. "Stuff went on in that organization that shouldn't go on in sports. I don't think there's one person who knows who or what is making the call. Let's just say the Oakland experience is unique. The phone rings quite a bit on that sideline. Insubordination is grounds for termination in any company," Sapp said.
