Texas Rangers SS Elvis Andrus (hamstring) said Tuesday, May 14, that he felt fine. His hamstring stiffened up in the ninth inning of the game Monday, May 13, against the Oakland Athletics. Andrus was able to remain in the game.

Texas Rangers SS Elvis Andrus will earn $4.8 million this year and $6.475 million in 2014. He will receive a signing bonus and four years of $15 million per season through the 2018 season. The team expects Andrus to opt out after the 2018 season, but if he doesn't, he would receive another four years and roughly $60 million, along with a vesting option for a ninth year.

The Texas Rangers agreed to an eight-year, $120 million extension with SS Elvis Andrus through the 2022 season. The deal will begin in two years, and the total guarantee is 10 years at $131 million. He could have been a free agent after the 2014 season.

Texas Rangers SS Elvis Andrus (Venezuela) and OF Engel Beltre (Spain) might return to the Texas Rangers soon, as both of their nations were eliminated from the World Baseball Classic. Minor-leaguers C Jose Felix (Mexico) and INF Gabe Suarez (Spain) are also due back shortly.

Texas Rangers SS Elvis Andrus committed a throwing error in the first inning of an intrasquad game Wednesday, Feb. 20, which is his second defensive mishap in two days. "I don't have too much fun in these games," Andrus said. "We were all wondering if we were going to play. The weather was the worst kind to play in. I just wanted to be home in bed.

The Texas Rangers have discussed a long-term deal with Scott Boras, the agent for SS Elvis Andrus, this offseason. Andrus has two years left on his current contract. "We're going to continue to talk," Andrus said. "We have to be on the same page. I've still got two more years. I'm not worried about it."
