Texas Rangers manager Ron Washington liked what he saw out of SS Elvis Andrus in the ninth spot in the batting order Sunday, May 4, so the skipper moved him up to No. 8 Monday, May 5. Andrus will remain at the bottom of the order for the time being, though. "I saw a guy very conscious of his at-bats," Washington said. "In the past, even when Elvis was struggling, when he came up in a big situation, he'd have a good at-bat. I hadn't been seeing that the last couple of weeks. I could see relaxation (Sunday). I could see him focusing on the at-bats."

Texas Rangers manager Ron Washington dropped slumping SS Elvis Andrus to the ninth spot on Sunday, May 4, after Andrus went 0 for 5 with three strikeouts the previous day and left six runners on base. "He's not able to slow things down," Washington said. "He's not swinging the bat well, so he's chasing pitches that he ordinarily wouldn't chase. Right now, he's out of sync." Andrus singled, walked and had an RBI sacrifice fly on Sunday.
