Wed, 27 Mar 2013 13:36:05 -0700 The Baltimore Orioles optioned SP Kevin Gausman to Double-A Bowie and reassigned 1B Travis Ishikawa to minor league camp. RP Tommy Hunter has made the team as a reliever. Fantasy Tip: Gausman really impressed the team this spring, and he'll be closely monitored in the minors this year. You should monitor him closely, as well, if you're in a keeper league. He's a candidate to be a September call-up this year.
Mon, 14 Jan 2013 12:34:53 -0800 The Baltimore Orioles avoided arbitration with SP Tommy Hunter Monday, Jan. 14, by agreeing to a one-year, $1.82 million deal. He made $493,500 last season. The team is also expected to reach a deal with RP Brian Matusz to avoid salary arbitration. Matusz will have four years of arbitration as a Super 2 player.
Thu, 03 Jan 2013 23:46:30 -0800 Baltimore Orioles general manager Dan Duquette has said he would be open to adding another relief pitcher, even though he has a full relief corps. The Orioles currently have CL Jim Johnson and RP's Pedro Strop, Darren O'Day, Luis Ayala and Troy Patton. RP Tommy Hunter is a likely candidate to return, as is RP Brian Matusz. "The bullpen was strong last year," Duquette said. "These guys are at the age where some of them should improve and a couple of them should be able to maintain and perform at the level they did this past year, but that wouldn't preclude us from adding some additional depth to our pitching staff."
Sat, 29 Dec 2012 20:26:16 -0800 Baltimore Orioles manager Buck Showalter has several in-house candidates for the fifth starter job heading into spring training. Those candidates include SPs Jake Arrieta, Zach Britton, Brian Matusz, Tommy Hunter, Steven Johnson and T.J. McFarland. The Orioles would likely prefer to keep Arrieta and Britton as starters at Triple-A Norfolk if they can't win a big-league rotation job in the spring.
Mon, 03 Sep 2012 10:19:50 -0700 The Baltimore Orioles have recalled SP Tommy Hunter from Double-A Bowie and P Zach Phillips from Triple-A Norfolk.
Sun, 02 Sep 2012 20:47:02 -0700 The Baltimore Orioles are expected to recall SP Tommy Hunter from Triple-A Norfolk Monday, Sept. 3. He will work from the bullpen.
Fri, 31 Aug 2012 13:57:05 -0700 Baltimore Orioles INF Steven Tolleson will be recalled from Triple-A Norfolk when rosters expand Saturday, Sept. 1. SPs Jake Arrieta, Zach Britton and Zach Phillips could also be added after Norfolk's season ends Monday, Sept. 3. SP Tommy Hunter could also come up from Double-A Bowie.
Sat, 25 Aug 2012 10:57:03 -0700 Confirming a previous report, Baltimore Orioles SP Tommy Hunter was optioned to Double-A Bowie.
Fri, 24 Aug 2012 13:31:23 -0700 The Baltimore Orioles recalled SP Brian Matusz and activated 2B Ryan Flaherty (illness) from the disabled list Friday, Aug. 24, and optioned SP Tommy Hunter and RP J.C. Romero in corresponding moves. Hunter may be sent to Double-A Bowie after giving up nine runs Wednesday, Aug. 22. Romero was designated for assignment and is considering retirement. Matusz will pitch out of the bullpen for now. Flaherty is in the lineup hitting ninth Friday.
Mon, 13 Aug 2012 00:49:51 -0700 Baltimore Orioles SP Tommy Hunter gave up three runs and eight hits in five innings Sunday, Aug. 12, in a 5-3 loss to the Kansas City Royals. Hunter has yielded at least one home run in 10 straight starts, and the two walks were Hunter's most in a game since April 24.
