Indians | Corey Kluber strikes out 14

Thu, 02 Jul 2015 16:35:25 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Corey Kluber struck out 14 hitters in a no-decision against the Tampa Bay Rays Thursday, July 2. He went eight innings but remained winless in his last six starts since May 28. Kluber allowed four runs and seven hits and finished by striking out five of his last six hitters.

Fantasy Tip: Kluber ($8,700, 17.4% of cap) remains a dominant strikeout arm and among the talk for fantasy aces, but he just hasn't had the good fortune he did in 2014. Still, he's a very strong FantasyScore option on the days he toes the rubber.

Indians | Corey Kluber fans 10 Friday

Fri, 26 Jun 2015 19:50:47 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Corey Kluber allowed three runs on seven hits over seven innings in a no-decision against the Baltimore Orioles Friday, June 26, with one walk and 10 strikeouts.

Fantasy Tip: Kluber ($8,900, 17.8% of cap) is still searching for his first win since May 28, and he finished the month of June with an 0-4 record in five starts. On a positive note, he recorded double-digit strikeouts for the 16th time since the beginning of the 2014 season, tying Chicago White Sox SP Chris Sale for the most games with 10 or more strikeouts over that stretch.

Fantasy Tip: Cabrera ($6,000, 12.0% of cap) went 7-for-11 with six RBI during the three-game series, and he is a matchup-proof option at FantasyScore.

Fantasy Tip: Kluber ($8,000, 16.0% of cap) wasn't his sharpest but still punched out nine and went eight respectable innings. Continue to rely on him in all formats.

Indians | Corey Kluber keeps rolling

Sat, 23 May 2015 17:19:51 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Corey Kluber allowed one run on nine hits while striking out seven over eight innings in a win over the Cincinnati Reds Saturday, May 23, and he has allowed one run or less in three straight starts.

Fantasy Tip: Kluber ($8,000, 16.0% of cap) has allowed two runs in 25.0 innings over his last three starts while piling up 37 strikeouts compared to just one walk. He has put a rough opening month to the year behind him, and the defending Cy Young winner is a must-start option at FantasyScore right now.

Indians | Corey Kluber continues dominance

Mon, 18 May 2015 19:32:17 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Corey Kluber turned in another dominant performance Monday, May 18, against the Chicago White Sox. Kluber moved into a tie for second on the Indians' all-time list for the most total strikeouts in back-to-back starts. Kluber has gone 17 innings with 30 strikeouts, six hits and one earned in his last two outings.

Fantasy Tip: Kluber ($8,000, 16.0% of cap) has regained his Cy Young form. Any owners who sold-low have to be kicking themselves, while the patient owners are being rewarded. Kluber is an elite option on FantasyScore from here on out.

Indians | Corey Kluber ties franchise record

Wed, 13 May 2015 18:04:52 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Corey Kluber picked up his first win of the season Wednesday, May 13, against the St. Louis Cardinals, tying a franchise record with a career-high 18 strikeouts. He only allowed a clean single in the seventh inning.

Fantasy Tip: Kluber finally showed the 2014 form which made him a Cy Young winner in the American League. At $7,600 (or 15.2% of cap) he is still a bit expensive in FantasyScore, but if he keeps pitching like this he'll soon be a bargain at that rate.

Indians | Corey Kluber missing Yan Gomes?

Mon, 11 May 2015 15:21:42 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Corey Kluber is 18-9 with a 2.39 ERA with C Yan Gomes as his catcher since the start of last year, and he's 0-5 with a 5.13 ERA with all other catcher. Kluber was 0-1 with a 2.63 ERA when Gomes was hurt early this season, and he's 0-4 with a 6.10 ERA while pitching to C Roberto Perez. Gomes is expected to be out until June.

Fantasy Tip: Kluber ($7,900, 15.8% of cap) is fanning 9.3 hitters per nine innings and walking just 2.2 hitters per nine, while opponents are hitting .364 on balls put in play. His strand rate is also way down at 62.3%, suggesting that a turnaround is imminent from last year's Cy Young winner. Kluber is an excellent buy-low target, and he'll be a good contrarian play at FantasyScore while others avoid him.

Indians | Corey Kluber continues poor start

Thu, 07 May 2015 18:24:42 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Corey Kluber's poor start to the 2015 season continued Thursday, May 7, against the Kansas City Royals. Kluber fell to 0-5 on the season after giving up seven hits and five runs through five and two-third innings. Kluber walked two and struck out seven.

Fantasy Tip: Kluber ($7,900, 15.8% of cap) should normalize sooner rather than later, but FantasyScore owners would be wise to fade the reigning AL Cy Young winner until some positive results start to surface.

Indians | Hope for Corey Kluber?

Sat, 02 May 2015 18:13:04 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Corey Kluber had a 4.14 ERA in six April starts last season, but he posted a 2.13 ERA in his final 28 starts.

Fantasy Tip: Kluber ($8,800, 17.6% of cap) currently owns a 4.62 ERA after six April starts this season, but his fantasy owners in seasonal leagues have reason to believe he will turn things around going forward. That being said, he should be avoided at FantasyScore until he has a couple of strong starts under his belt.
