Tampa Bay Rays 3B Evan Longoria (hamstring) and OF Desmond Jennings (knee) took batting practice before the game Sunday, May 20, and both looked fine. Jennings is slated to come off the disabled list Sunday, May 27.

The Tampa Bay Rays placed OF Desmond Jennings (knee) on the 15-day disabled list Monday, May 14, and recalled C Stephen Vogt from Triple-A Durham in a corresponding move. Jennings' DL stint is retroactive to May 12.

Tampa Bay Rays OF Desmond Jennings (knee) appears to be headed to the 15-day disabled list with a left knee sprain. C Stephen Vogt would be the likely replacement on the roster. An announcement is expected to come late Monday, May 14, or Tuesday, May 15. Jennings hasn't started in seven games, but he pinch hit Friday, May 11, so a DL stint could only be backdated to Saturday, May 12.

Fantasy Tip: Brandon Guyer received two starts in left field last week, and he figures to benefit the most from a Jennings DL stint. Guyer, 26, has moderate power to all fields and made plenty of contact in the minors to provide you with a productive batting average. He also has double-digit theft potential over a full season.

Although the Rays haven't indicated anything, this could speed up the return to the majors for Hideki Matsui. He won't play the outfield, but he could be used to split time at DH with Luke Scott, especially against southpaws.

Tampa Bay Rays OF Desmond Jennings (knee) is out of the lineup again Monday, May 14, and 2B Sean Rodriguez (intercostal) is playing through his injury. Rodriguez strained an intercostal muscle diving for a ball Saturday, May 12.
