Tampa Bay Rays SP Matt Moore said Friday, April 20, that he can't say definitively that he has not been tipping his pitches, but he is concerned that he might be. "If they're swinging at certain stuff they shouldn't be swinging at, or spitting on (taking) stuff they shouldn't be spitting on, if that's the case, then it's going to come out sooner or later," Moore said. "I personally don't think so, but we'll see."

Tampa Bay Rays SP Matt Moore may have been tipping his pitches in his ugly outing against the Boston Red Sox Sunday, April 15. Manager Joe Maddon said "it's like they know what's coming almost." The thing that was most obvious was the overly aggressive swings the BoSox were taking given their limited exposure to Moore. C Chris Gimenez may have been setting up in his stance too early in his first start since being called up. However, the team's concerns were squashed when video after the game showed it was more bad location by Moore than anything else.

Tampa Bay Rays SP Matt Moore gave up three hits while walking one and striking out three in six innings against the Pittsburgh Pirates Friday, March 30, for his longest outing this spring. "I definitely needed to get 90 pitches out of my body today," said Moore. "Luckily, we fell behind some hitters today, but we were able to get through six innings, up and down six times and 90 pitches, so it was nice."
